  1. I have been missing RUSH since 1981
  2. Yes, by about 6 minutes and 20 seconds. hahaha
  3. Being exposed to a particular philosophy or piece of literature in itself is never a bad thing - what one chooses to do or how they apply to their lives in hopes of becoming a bigger person is up to them .. Some of Rand's thoughts have inspired me, some have made my eyes roll - but there is nothing to fear about keeping an open mind and exposing yourself to some fascinating ideas and thoughts .... to simply disregard her is missing the point - Like her or not, she left her mark - and continues to well after her passing . .
  4. God awful!!!! hope you didn,t pay much!!!!!! Keep'in it real, I am not a fan of that one at all. Wouldn't wear it with the exception of as a pajama top. Maybe... :) My two favorite bands :D Somehow the fact that they are your two favorite bands just amazes me for some reason. I know there are big loyal Kiss fans out there but I will never understand the why. A great show is one thing but the music is another. Never could stand them... Narps, the ironic thing is I first heard KISS while driving in the backseat of the family Vista Cruiser - it was Rock And Roll All Night, and I was immediately drawn to the vibe and energy .... I remember this like is was yesterday - I say to my sister "I love this song" and she says "It's that band that wears the makeup" - I had no idea what she was talking about, as I didn;t know what they looked like ... After a few days of hounding my parents, they took me to find a KISS album .. Alive ! had just come out ... I saw the album on display, and realized what my sis was talking about ... Needless to say, my life changed forever ;)

  8. Definitely my favourite Rush font. I think a cool shirt should combine that logo, double-neck guitars, and the double bass drum kit. It's odd that Rush didn't stick with one recognizable logo - I suppose the Starman took the place of one particular font / logo ..... I think the debut "RUSH" is probably the most universal - but in thinking about it, it would not have fit with the A Farewell To Kings / Hemispheres vibe
  9. Classic http://images.marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/hi/43/43303/rush_t-shirt_hemispheres.jpg
  10. I ordered this shirt a few days ago ... I know, it's not my design, but I liked it a lot http://www.oldskoolhooligans.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/r/u/russh_2.jpg
  11. Lorraine, I was born, raised and currently in good old NJ :D Yes, I know that, but what county in NJ do you live in? I was born and raised in Hudson. For the first 40, I was in Morris County ... a few years ago, I crossed over to Somerset But the arcades in Willowbrook and Ledgewood were never too far away back in the day :D
  12. You look a completely different race in the bottom pick! Awesome! And...no lie...you still look about 25. Thanks Segue - about 5 years ago I completely cleaned up my diet - no wheat, all organic, etc ... it has made a world of difference in how I feel ... and the blonde is a lot more forgiving than gray, believe me :D

  14. What the hell .. I've never posted photos of myself on the 'net - I don't even have Facebook .... Here is me, thru time: - Little League, circa 1980 ( a few weeks after seeing Rush for the first time ) - The Metal Phase, mid 80s ( after discovering girls ) - Me now ( after discovering that bleaching my hair can cover a lot of gray ) http://s26.postimg.org/764tf68e1/Little_League02small.jpg http://s26.postimg.org/5flsdoquw/Lucas_Bird.jpg http://s26.postimg.org/4rcxuqs55/Luc_Blonde01.jpg
  15. sorry for the diversion. but how do I post the youtube video so it shows up here in the forum ( ... not just as a link ) thanks !
  16. One of my favorite moments from Gary ... With Phil Lynott, Cozy Powell, Don Airey and Scott Gorham ... I love this:
  17. Cheap Trick - Surrender Thin Lizzy - Boys Are Back In Town KISS - Rock And Roll All Night
  18. No particular order: - KISS - Dead Boys - Thin Lizzy - RUSH - Michael Schenker More recent: - Skull Daze - AKB48
  19. In 1975, I was all of eight years old, and FM radio played "Walk This Way" and "Rock And Roll All Night" regularly - I went from The Bay City Rollers to Aerosmith and KISS in'75, an soon made it Jailbreak and Thin Lizzy in the spirit of 1976 .... RUSH came along in 78 ... 1975 - KISS, Aerosmith 1976 - Thin Lizzy 1978 - RUSH, Dead Boys, Ramones, Schenker/UFO 1981 - Iron Maiden I don't feel old - I feel fortunate . .
  20. I suppose much of this boils down to what each of us find special in music - what we connect with .. I don't equate "talent" with spending endless hours sequestered practicing ... what I feel as special in a musician is there ability to communicate thru their instrument - as if it is an extension of their body As an example of a turning point for me - I remember seeing the double bill of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Joe Satriani ... at the time, I had been playing the guitar for a few years, and I couldn't wait to see Satch and Stu Hamm - I had been listening to guys like Al D, Pat Matheny, Larry Carlton, Vai, etc ... Well, Satriani did his set - and Stu Hamm did his thing .... But I wasn't prepared for Stevie Ray Vaughn - the guy commanded the stage, and what he did was so inspiring and natural - he wasn't up there showing us what he had practiced for years and years - SRV was communicating something to us - the entire audience, as if each person was the only one there ... People were transfixed - at times the entire place was singing along, at times people had tears coming down their faces .. That was a turning point for me
  21. Skull Daze - my favorite band to come along in a long time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_g9tU2i25M
  22. Whenever I see a guy with a bass that has a neck as wide as the body and like 6 or 8 strings, I cringe ... When I think of bass, I think BALLS and GROWL - There is an art to playing bass - not some frustrated guitar player wanking on a bass guitar, but a REAL bass player - like Geddy This one is no contest IMHO
  23. c'mon, that just not fair - it's like 1:42am here, and I figured I would lurk the boards one last time before bed ... and now - I feel like I need to get down to the kitchen and into the freezer
