  1. .. and that looks like someone dressed their penis up as a muppet
  2. For anyone in the NY/NJ/Philly area, there's a place called Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ ( right next to Edison ) I used to go there in the 80s and 90s, and thankfully they are still open and doing well .. They also have a pretty good schedule of artist signings and acoustic sets .. For those inclined, Steven Wilson will be there Dec 1st signing stuff I haven;t been in about 15 years, but after thinking about it and reading this thread, I will definitely make a point https://vvinyl.com/shop/
  3. I would think any future record would be initiated by Alex and Geddy, and without Neil, I highly doubt they'd call it "Rush" That said, I am not a fan of either Victor or My Favorite Headache, and between those two albums and the fumes Rush was running on, I just don;t know if Geddy and Alex have the songwriting chops left to make a good album - unless they were to team up with some, for example, like Jon Anderson who IMHO put out a great album with Roine Stolt a couple of years ago .. I think Ged and Alex would either need to get some young enthusiastic blood in the band in terms of a drummer - not some retread - or they would benefit by collaborating with a creative singer - someone who takes recording a bit more serious than what Victor was and more interesting than the lame recycled riffs on MFH
  4. hey baby, it's a quarter to eight . . HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABYCAT !!!!
  5. holy crap, ROD !!! Is this the first you posted this - I haven;t seen it Beyond words !!!
  6. Most of the CDs I buy now are from eBay I am sort of obsessive when it comes to CDs and blu rays, and there are a few sellers on eBay that have come to rely on Also, for some of the really hard to find things, I've bought a bunch on Discogs .. if it isn't there, it might not be anywhere
  7. Interesting that you mention Vital Signs, as that is the song that has, by far, jumped up the most on my list of favorites I was first introduced to Rush when I saw the A Farewell To Kings video one late late night back in 1977 .. It didn't take but a few moments for me to love this band .. A Farewell To Kings was the first I bought, and , if memory serves, I got The Debut at the same time and Caress, if not that same day, was soon to follow .. There was no breaking in period or acquired taste to any of it - I loved all of it All three of the albums are firmly planted in my Top 5
  8. .. and The Burning has one of the greatest scenes ever in a slasher film great post
  9. Speaking of which. The Spectrum in Philadelphia on May 22, 1981. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfsAyjWTs38 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnJ_1wMBpOU RFF, thanks for posting this I had no idea this footage existed
  10. .. just sitting here at home waiting for some furnace repair help to arrive Gotta love movies that are getting ONE star or FIVE stars and seemingly nothing in between WTF did I just see ? I will never get the 2 hrs and 34 mins or the $$ back that I wasted on this art house ****. And yes, I got the social theme and what was going on but it went on FAR too long and gruesome for my taste. I should’ve seen Halloween! whoa nellie I nothing else, the internet has opened up the opportunities for 10 year olds to play movie critic ..
  11. Suspiria is a meditation on the dangers of pedagogy and the perils of placing your art above all else ??? Reviewer Dana Stevens goes on to call the original a "giallo", which it is absolutely not .. The 1977 Suspiria is a supernatural horror film, and not a giallo film -- this is a prime example of a critic trying too hard and not knowing the history or legacy .. Anyone who ever wanted to take an annoying critic to task, this is the video to watch Vincent Gallo makes it almost uncomfortable to watch, but they had it coming ( Vincent comes out at around the 12:45 mark )
  12. That's a good thing for me too .... I have no problem with 2 1/2 hr + movies ... I've seen more good films thinking "damn, I wish that had been longer" than I've ever thought "wow, that was too long" When movie critics try to fill their negative reviews with pseudo-intellectual nonsense and attempts at clever thesaurus language , it's usually a sign of them trying to be more intelligent that the film itself - and those are the reviews in which I put the least value .. If we're talkin' visually amazing but short on sense or plot, that's the original - and that's one of my all-time favorite horror films ..
  13. Welcome back Zumbi http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GzZLRKYz7RI/U8Q_TOh3OgI/AAAAAAABBgw/qK51wiBVRD4/s1600/Lita_Ford_19.jpg
  14. I think prog could be considered the genre that houses the most diverse influences - folk, avant garde, electronic, classical - the kitchen sink There's no denying an album like Close To The Edge as far as the epitome of the label "prog" , but by that time, so much had already gone into the genre "Invent" is different than "define"
  15. I've tried some of the Subscribe And Save stuff, but it's been 50/50 as far as them bailing and making it unavailable, or, jacking up the price without notification ... And the free shipping for orders over $25 - shipping is indeed free, but their handling time becomes like 10 days before it even ships out .. And if you don't go thru the process of clicking "free shipping" on every step of the check out, they'll just slip the pricey shipping on you
  16. Goose, I have heard a lot of good things ... After the aborted fiasco of a few years ago, the project seemed doomed to never get off the ground ... But Luca Guadagnino seemed to have a lot of respect for the original, and apparently he did not try to simply remake the film ... Gone are the gaudy colors and sensory overload soundtrack - he purposefully gave the film a drab, colorless look .. The original is a film a love, and I am really excited to see this remake ... After all the misfires of the past, I am glad they finally got it off the ground, and seemingly in good health
  17. It's good to see Alex getting out there and playing .. At some point, there was a phone call or text - "you want to come on stage and play some songs?" -- and the fact that Alex was probably like "sure" - that's great ... I mean, it's better than saying "no thanks" But I hope this is just an indication that Alex is going to do something more down the road
  18. .. nice button Neil ... nice sock Ged

  20. From the book "Rush Chronology" .. take it for what it is worth Permanent Waves: "The Spirit Of Radio", "Freewill", "Uncle Tounouse" (Unreleased), and "Sir Gawain And The Green Knight" (Unreleased) were finished during July 1979, and demos were made of those songs, as well as unfinished versions of "Jacob's Ladder", and "Entre Nous". "Jacob's Ladder" and "Entre Nous" were finished during soundchecks in August 1979, while "Natural Science", and "Different Strings" were written in September 1979. The album was recorded from October-November 1979 Sir Gawain was finished and recorded as a demo by July 1979 ..
