  1. For me, it was between Scott Weiland and Eddie Vedder. Both have really riveting voices. I went with Scott Weiland, just because of his performance on Plush. (weird song I know, my brother in law used to play it all the time. ). Its about a kidnapped dead girl (kind of) and the emotion in his voice is really exceptional. Chris Cornell was definitely good looking though! There was a guy in college who had a similar look for many years. Then he decided to embrace the bald all at once, that was a change! We won tickets to see Velvet Revolver concert one summer and a meet and greet. Our toddler at the time woke up that day with a terrible fever so we gave the passes to someone else. Made the right call, but I would have enjoyed having a photo with Scott, Duff and Slash.
  2. Great thinking! With both Kobayashi and Chestnut out, it's an open field! Husband and I find this strangely riveting each year.
  3. I like the saxophone but he's leaning a little too much on the Freddie Mercury look! I've never heard of him but not sure I missed much!
  4. Rush had some good runs, there are a few different 7 years, depending on how you like to break it up?? I'm maybe tending to agree with LABT on the Beatles, or thinking of Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin I to Physical Graffiti are all winners although my favorites are the first 3, personally. Deep Purple, 70-74 and a little beyond with In Rock through Burn ?? Stones, 69-74; Aftermath through Goats Head Soup? We were lucky to have so many to pick from!
  5. So many to choose from. Least favorite, not worst, right? Wonderwall - Oasis I've never liked Liam Gallagher's voice You Oughta Know- Alanis Morrisette Too much bitterness to absorb in one song; the Dave Coulier thing is creepy Can You Take Me Higher- Creed I'm a big Mark Tremonti fan, but not a Scott Stapp fan. As my dad used to say about that style of singing- "They're gonna bust a lung!" One More Time- Britney Spears Pushed into inappropriate songs at the age of 16 by family and management
  6. That's so sad! ESPN had a really interesting feature on him on 30 for 30 earlier this year- about 3 or 4 hours long. One of the original hippie type thinkers in the NBA. In the documentary, his kids were all laughing fondly at Walton's fondness for writing out John Wooden's quotes and motivational pyramid on poster paper and taping them all over the house. Walton could hardly walk in the present day scenes, though, the damage to his body was enormous. He was a really cool player, and so good. Most people probably know, he was a huge Grateful Dead fan for years and would sit on the side of the stage during concerts. I guess he will get to see Jerry again now. Cancer sucks. RIP to a great guy.
  7. Woo hoo! Everybody in the pool!
  8. Thank you both for the clips! It is wonderful to see them on a stage again! (not that I think they should go back on tour again, but nice to see these one offs.)
  9. Happy Birthday dear Fridge ! I should have sent this earlier- I hope your birthday was a good one! Best wishes - I have just been listening to some older Sloppy Foot Cowboys and really enjoying the songs- it has been awhile since I've heard Carolina Skies and Full Gasoline. Cheers!
  10. So are these the most listened to albums on Apple Music? Or someone at Apple just picked them? I wonder who? Where is this album? I appreciate that it is not all strictly rock, but there is a lot they didn't seem to consider.
  11. Happy birthday, apetersvt! Great planning, to be able to enjoy your birthday and Memorial Day weekend! I hope today is wonderful for you!
  12. I went with "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"! I always loved the way she delivered the line, "before I put another notch in my lipstick case . . ." In the Heat Of The Night is a great album. I was working in a bank shortly after that and it cheered me that she used to be a bank teller while waiting for her big break.
  13. I'm jealous!
  14. This is the way- apples and oranges. I really like them both. Frank Hannon and Billy Duffy both have a great sound.
  15. Happy, happy birthday Jamie !! I hope it's a great one for you, and a good summer! (In Arkansas, I hope you can find someone with a rowboat, a canoe or a fishing rod ! I used to spend the summers there with my grandma.) Wishing you all the best!
  16. I'm late to this party, but I voted for Rebel Yell, followed by White Wedding. Eyes Without A Face was really good as well. I used to work with someone who kept a framed photo of Billy in her work desk drawer. When things got hectic she would sit down a minute, open the drawer and get a big smile on her face. Whatever works!
  17. I do, for some reason. I always thought the use of the air raid sirens at the beginning was genius; and the lyrics are actually about something pretty concrete? Plus it generated so many memes, the song that won't quit!
  18. 1. War Pigs 2. Iron Man 3. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath 4. Fairies Wear Boots 5. Paranoid 6. War Pigs That's all I've got !
  19. I'm so sorry to hear of both your losses.
  20. Well put! (Lol, just saw goose's comment but still well said)
  21. Yes, this is a great example! Back when artists actually thought about sequencing.
  22. Rumors by Fleetwood Mac is another great album with excellent sequencing for whatever reason; there's a whole book about the album in our public library but I've never gotten around to reading it.
  23. Oops, Ok, back on topic. Great question, EP! Born to Run is a really good one, as someone that grew up with vinyl "albums" ; I always appreciated when they were arranged so that you could listen straight through at least one side; not too many fast or slower songs in a row and not what seems to happen on a lot of rushed records, a bunch of lousy songs with one hit or whatever. The first one I can think of is "Who's Next", its a great album and that's part of it. Loved it when I was younger and later on read that this also was supposed to be a rock opera that just never came together, but it makes sense that the song order would be thought about a lot and sequenced well if that was the case.
