  1. I don't enjoy name dropping, but its Circle Of Tone on YouTube. If it's on YouTube then you're not name dropping. Obviously if someone is posting videos up on there they want you to know who they are. I'm not sure if you know Circle of Tone, but I find that while he has some good points about the music industry, I feel he chooses to stay willfully ignorant about so many things about modern rock and metal.
  2. I don't usually like to name drop people, that's why I dont specify who I talk about in public.
  3. I think is so ridiculous that some people are so anti technology that they dont consider bands that use VSTs and computerized rigs "real bands". What this particular fuckstick doesn't understand is that a lot of the particular brands of retro technology used in the 70s and 80s is no longer available to the newbies because they've been DISCONTINUED. Even the ones that haven't been discontinued cost a lot of money. Have you guys seen what a Hammond B3 costs these days? Well into the $10,000 range. And that's probably without the leslie.
  4. Over the past few years, I've noticed this trend of gatekeeping among youtube channels, usually run by guitarists, musicians, and music fans that are mostly Gen-Xers that grew up in the 70s and 80s. Where they think they can decide who and what is a "legitimate" rock/metal musician and who isn't. Of course, I agree with them that genres like mumble rap and EDM are absolutely repugnant and should just go away. I don't agree that modern rock and metal musicians should be shamed for using modern technology to make music, like VSTs, preamps, computerized amps, and drum tracks. I also dont think that new retro rock bands should be shamed for trying to sound like retro bands. Personally, I find the whole anti-Greta Van Fleet argument to be just stupid. It's essentially wanting to have your cake and eat it too. You want rock bands to have a retro sound, but you bitch and moan about how unoriginal they are when they do adopt a retro sound. Anyway, my point is, you can’t sit there and complain that rock is dead and us millennials killed it, and then when new retro rock bands break into the mainstream, you start whining that they’re fake and unoriginal. That is gatekeeping at its worst.
  5. Rolling Stone magazine in a nutshell, folks.
  6. To me his vocals are easily the worst thing about them. Really, really, REALLY annoying :P Many people said that about Rush and look what happened.
  7. I know this is kind of a weird choice...but I always wondered how fitting it would be if Rush did their absolute final show this summer at the absolute final date on the absolute final Vans Warped Tour? Yes I know, Rush is probably too old of an act for Warped Tour, but I was just wondering how much of a big draw it would have been for Vans to have a band headlining the very last date of the very last Warped tour and also have that be the band's official final farewell, so it's like two farewells rolled into one.
  8. Next time I'll see if I have any luck with the iPad.
  9. I was going to pop in and say hello but Rabbit seems to hate android phones: P
  10. I second that....Now I seriously wonder if Neil's sick or not...
  11. Someone must have given the organist the sheet music to Square Hammer.
  12. They should totally bring that act on tour, I'd see that in a heartbeat.
  13. I thought back then adults thought that rock n roll was from TEH DEVIL
  14. I want to just blast that song in front of that "christian" anti-gay hardware store.
  15. Another forgotten styx gem would undeniably be Put Me On, a great JY tune. I seriously don't think there is a bad JY-led Styx song.
  16. Krakatoa into Grand Illusion would be a kickass show starter :)
  17. So...It's been a while since I posted on this thread (or on this site as a whole to be honest). Seeing as how I'm getting back into Styx again, I might as well talk about it lol. Anyway, I think that every fan of post-1975 Styx should go back and listen to the Wooden Nickel era records, and not just Lady. There are so many great songs such as Best Thing, You Need Love, Winner Take All, Grove of Eglantine, Father OSA. I seriously wish that they would give this era more love during their current live show. It would be so cool if they did Winner Take All or Grove of Eglantine on their next tour and REALLY throw their fans a curveball.
  18. Thriller by far. There will never be another artist like Michael Jackson

  20. While I don't think No Prayer is bad, it's definitely the most "nothing special" album of the Bruce era.
  21. I don't know man...I mean, it would be great to have a great big social gathering of TRF members, but...Unless we have someone here who is formally trained in the ways of how to organize a large event, I don't think it'll be a good idea. I'm only saying this because of the absolute monstrous shitshow that was both TanaCon and the Fouseytube music festival. Both events were completely ruined by the fact that both events were too large to be DIY.
