  1. There are so many problems with this post, you're a friggin' lunatic
  2. Ah yes, what a poem. I recited it to my class in high school......the teacher f***ing loved it
  3. I was wondering when someone would bring that up. Also...not for nothing but after Nat Sci Geddy said they are on the "..right on the verge of the 70's" before playing Jacob's Ladder. Hence - Geddy CONFIRMS that Permanent Waves is an 80's album. The only way Geddy could confirm that PeW is an 80s album is with a time machine :smoke:
  4. They could have pulled the vocals back a bit in the mix. Not much else they could do unless they try to mask it. That's what I meant. I know they want to deliver an "authentic" experience; but it just sounds bad in spots (the same is true of the Clockwork Angels DVD). What would the harm be in making it sound better. I get the whole integrity thingg, but this is same band that list Alex as "backing vocals" even though it's obvious, he's not the voice you hear. Authentic? I think it was time to give up that hope decades ago. Seeing R40 one has to suspend disbelief with all of GEDDYS background vocals and synths, all performed while neither of them are anywhere pedals or mics. Eagle is spot on about CTTC or TTP. Woulda been nice to have CTTC live once, its a good tune. For that reason, HII was a worthy addition, for the 1/3rd rotation it got this tour it was worth hearing live once in the grand history of Rush. As much as I like Animate, its been done before a few tours, I'd put CTTC in that slot instead and leave that HII thing alone! . I don't get the comment about them not being anywhere near pedals for the background synth/vocals. They're always triggered by one of them. He probably means why Alex is pretending to sing into his mic, but the backing vocals are all pre-recorded samples of Geddy, probably triggered by Neil. There are lots of subtle background vocals and synths, especially on the newer material, where G n A are not near the synths nor peds. Definitely could be triggered by Neil, but that dudes got his hands and feet full! . Well, if there's a background vocal then Ged's probably singing a lead vocal (in most cases), which would mean he's near his pedal board
  5. :goodone: Ben's tone was spot on. It could be because I had much better seats at the Vancouver show (on the floor, row 12) than I did at the LA show (waaaaaaaaaay up in the nosebleeds), but I thought Ben did such an incredible job of replicating his original performance. The Dink did a great job, but it didn't quite have the same feel.
  6. I don't think that's true. After all, he didn't want to record Digital Man
  7. here here, I agree. I think he sounded great for R40. Haters need to just shut up & leave. Hope the guys never see the sh** people post about them! I certainly don't want to cause or start any trouble here but if you have an opinion that is not completely positive or positive at all is that not ok? I love the band as much as anyone and have since 76' but I am gonna call it how I see it. No offense. Just wondering... :) Right on Narps. This forum is fast becoming a dangerous place for anyone who has a brain. Aw, are you frightened Tony? Poor chappie. Objective criticism and trollish posts- do they all look the same to you? If someone posts that Geddy Lee sounds like shit on R40 Live, does that sound like objective criticism? Lol, no buddy. That's some douche trying to get a rise out of this crowd. You're so sensitive about people getting pissed over trollish comments. This is The RUSH Forum, so, if you feel "danger" because there's too many RUSH fanatics on this RUSH forum and some of them get rude with trollish posts, welcome to reality. :hi: Wake up and smell the honeydew. Don't fret about how dangerous this forum is. It'll be okay dear. Admin will make sure of it. Someone's butt-hurt.....and it ain't Tony

  9. That's a bit harsh. I don't care for him either but I wouldn't go that far. Maybe there was a bit of hyperbole in my post
  10. Jesus Christ....Michael Moore is a giant piece of shit. He's probably the most disgusting human alive
  11. I've also heard that Paul McCartney played drums on Back in the USSR. How did he manage that while playing bass???????? There's no logical explanation!!!!! ;)
  12. Many of us listen too a lot of modern stuff, but don't bother mentioning it as so many older ones go "that's not real music we had it better", so meh. Pretty much, although I do think pop music was much better in the 70s/80s. Some of the worst pop came from those decades as well! Ignore the classics, pick up some random hit compilations: so much dreck! Same goes for today as well! I agree, but there is NOTHING I like from the most famous Pop artists now (Nikki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, etc.) At least artists back then had to put at least a little effort into their music, now it's just built on a computer with the "artists" name and face slapped on the cover. Yeah, sure, all the most popular pop music is generally shite, but there are quite a few artists currently doing really interesting things with pop. Tame Impala, Future Islands, Tegan and Sara, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, St. Vincent...no fair to say "at least artists back then had to put at least a little effort into their music" not all music today is made on a computer
  13. Settle down, that's a bit much. It's a fair observation. Neil has been neutering his drum parts for years. It is consistently disappointing to me Perhaps a better way to say it would be, "Cornelius' playing has seemed less interesting TO ME over the past few years". To me, his playing as recently as Clockwork Angels has been vibrant and exciting...and why it would be more of a shame if Rush doesn't make new music together. I'm not talking about Neil's recent studio works, nor am I saying Rush shouldn't make music together. But recent performances of Natural Science, A Passage to Bangkok, Jacob's Ladder, and Losing It (and I'm sure others) contain drum parts that at times are quite different from the original versions
  14. How It Is isn't my favorite performance on the DVD, but it had some much needed life that's missing on the studio version

  16. The proof is here, open the link if you dare: http://cbsnews1.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2011/12/08/0053d30a-a645-11e2-a3f0-029118418759/thumbnail/620x350/5a5dbe7758945036f1fed2a3ac8d803f/102417009.jpg
  17. Simple question. Does R40 Live have the best Ged faces yet or what?? He's really reachin' for those notes! Some super hilarious expressions in Xanadu! LOL
  18. One thing I can say for sure after seeing most of the DVD is that the performance of the Hemispheres Prelude is f***ing bad ass.
  19. The only odd thing I noticed about the mix was how insanely compressed Alex's guitar is during the middle part of Animate
  20. Or his classic second hand smoking joke :smoke:
  21. The Friar Tuck look must be embraced! I know that's the real reason Neil won't tour anymore. He's sick of Alex's stupid hair pieces!
  22. In terms of Rush show traditions, it pales in comparison to the TSOR "Oh Yeeeaahhhhhhhh!"
