  1. I have yet to see a review of the Sunday-night show, was it as good as the one on Friday? It goes without saying that Halifax had its greatest weekend, ever, of music.....I was just happy to see them on the 12th. BTW, great photos!
  2. Silly question - is there a price for those of us who simply want a ticket to see the show? I do not need this whole package thing, but would spend half ($150) to see the band in Halifax. Of course, I would not get the best seats avaialble....
  3. The Garden is the ideal swan song from a studio point of view. The R40 tour should be a given to happen, after that, it's anybody's guess. The band would not ever want to play unless they could match or exceed their standards, no matter how much we want them to continue. It's good to go out in a blaze of glory. I would love to see a DVD made from a CANADIAN concert, maybe they are saving that for the last kick at the can.
  4. I am with the above poster in many regards. It's always ideal to go out on top, the band is playing epically and I cannot honestly see how they can be better nor can we fans be more wowed. I can see them taking some time of in 2013 (we will have the new DVD to tide us over) and the R40 tour could be the end, 40 years is a long time for any band to stay together and they have nothing to prove by going further. Their song and disc catalog will be long-enamored by their fans and their music will be long-sought after for listening years after they are retired, not dissimilar to what we experienced with Led Zeppelin or The Who, classic and quality music never goes out of style nor is it forgotten. No fancy reunion gigs ten years down the road to cash in like so many other older bands, they will know when it's time and do it......
  5. Rush has NEVER been a heavy metal band, not likely they are going to embark on that route at this juncture.
  6. I still don't know if this latest effort would be regarded as a "masterpiece" by myself, but Geddy recently called CA a "rock opera" so that does give it a lot of credibility - how would it compare to The Who's epic "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia"? What about "The Wall"? The story from CA is much better and detailed, heck there is even a book about it now. I think many would agree that those three albums I cited are masterpeices, so maybe, just maybe, I can look at CA as that.....I think TIME is an element that is required for any recording to achieve that status. Just my $0.02. (Canadian funds of course!)
  7. The book was a "fun" read and an ideal companion to the album. It flowed very well and there were some surprises, twists, and turns. It made me appreciate more fully some of the mood and drama on the recording, "Wreckers" comes to mind.
  8. The best drummer in rock and the one with the most experience, hard to beat that!
  9. I can't recall the last time a new Rush disc was so anticipated and getting such positive feedback. In this day of downloads, can a CD actually sell well no matter how good it is? Safe to say this recording is an instant classic, IMHO.
  10. Thanks, I need to see if the DVD can arrive before Christmas if I get it through Rush's site - I finally was able to get amazon.ca to set up an address for shipping, they won't be able to get this out until late January.....Goodness.
  11. I just decided to try to get it from amazon.com, the stupid Website cannot recognize my province of Nova Scotia, they are requesting I use New Orleans. I am glad I did NOT get a Kindle eReader as Amazon doesn't seem to know anything about the country up north. Dickheads. Any other Canadian vendors that might sell this? I tried Wal-Mart, Zellers.
  12. I was getting ready to buy the DVD (I live in Nova Scotia) and discovered some crazy $60 price for the audio CD which is not available until AFTER Christmas - this must be the DVD and CD set as a package - imported? What gives? I see the DVD is easily available in the US on the .com Website. I already have the 2-CD set.....Did I miss something?
  13. Sorry to open up this can of worms, let's just enjoy Ged and his buddies for as long as they are still having fun and wanting to play.
  14. I keep reading about how awful Ged's vocals are on this latest classic DVD/CD (as much from other review sources as anywhere else); I am perfectly happy with his efforts and he actually has a lot of that old "banshee wait" left in him which identifies himself to this band's music. For those of you who do not like how the vocals came out, too bad - he still has it IMHO. Rant over. Let's keep enjoying this special talented trio and rock on through to 2012 where we ill be treated to yet another great album. (and subsequent tour!)
