  4. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ May 17 2012, 10:48 AM) Donna Summer -- the Queen of Disco -- died this morning after a battle with cancer ... TMZ has learned. We're told Summer was in Florida at the time of her death. She was 63 years old. Sources close to Summer tell us ... the singer was trying to keep the extent of her illness under wraps. We spoke to someone who was with Summer a couple of weeks ago ... who says she didn't seem too bad. In fact, we're told she was focused on trying to finish up an album she had been working on. Summer was a 5-time Grammy winner who shot to superstardom in the '70s with iconic hits like "Last Dance," "Hot Stuff" and "Bad Girls" She continued her dominance in the '80s with "She Works Hard for the Money" and "This Time I Know It's for Real." Summer and her producer Giorgio Moroder defined the dance music era of the '70s and influenced acts like Duran Duran and David Bowie to enter the genre. Summer married Brooklyn Dreams singer Bruce Sudano back in 1980. They had two daughters together. Horrible news. RIP Donna...
  5. Kid Rock, EMinem, Madonna are on the top of my list. However, Rolling Stones and the Dead I do respect and believe they have earned their fame and fortunes. The third band you mentioned I have never heard of...
  6. QUOTE (danielmclark @ May 13 2012, 09:52 AM) QUOTE (the masked drummer @ May 13 2012, 08:06 AM) Selling out? There's no such thing. To me its just jealousy. If bk asked you to do the same you'd jump at the chance. Tyler busted his balls to make it and stay on top and deserves every penny he earns. Period. Oh, sorry, you were being serious... I was???
  7. QUOTE (CantStopThinkingBig @ May 13 2012, 12:24 PM) he's at the age where he looks too ridiculous to be taken seriously as a musician/rock star... so it's time to sell out to American Idol and BK He's playing his cards right. Daniel clark can laugh all he wants, but it's Tyler laughing the loudest. People talk like he's washed up. Roth and eddie proved you can do several toursafter their prime. Why not stop and Make tens of millions on anerican idol and bk commercials? As if he's had any artistic integrity since the seventues. Pfft.he can sing his ass off, play the drums well, and get more high class ass than anyone on this forum of any age. He's in his sixties. How can you criticize his business ventures? That crusty old f**k is probably tappin' j lo's fine ass ontop of it all.
  8. QUOTE (GeddyLeeRoth @ May 12 2012, 11:40 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ May 11 2012, 08:12 PM) Eddie was exceptional which is a lot coming from me as I'm in the "EVH is overrated camp" And your camp needs go to a deserted island and kill each other. If you don't hear how brilliant, soulful and unique Eddie's rhythm playing is, you are a complete failure. Seriously, any real musician or ardent music listener knows the real magic isn't mainly in his leads--its his freakin' rhythm and song writing abilities. Eddie sux, his kid sux, the "new album" is a joke and they're living off the past. Van halen has been reduced to entertainers I would expect to see perform at a low-grade retirement home luncheon at best...
  9. I just ordered a pair of tickets from ticketmaster for $31 total for pine knob August 6. I am sooo happy, but would be happier if Jon didn't get thrown under the bus and was still their singer...

  11. QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ May 10 2012, 09:46 PM) OK, so here's the deal: I haven't been up front at a concert since I was 15 years old. I am 50 years old now.... ....should I be worried about my hearing if I make it to the Front Row? I have some hearing loss in my right ear (higher frequencies), and I don't want to make it worse.... Just how LOUD is it? Should I bring ear plugs, or should I rough it? The decibal level (loudness) is not neccessarily too extreme up front. In fact, there are other areas of the venue where it will sound louder. But... I always bring hearing protection. It is critical to keep your ears safe before the show. Cranking out Rush in your car on the way to the show can reduce your ability to hear the show correctly. I also have lost some of my high frequency hearing. Probably from playing heavy metal drums since 1983...
  12. There's been some speculation here in Detroit that The Beastie Boys will not be returning to the stage. Kind of a led zep deal. Game over. Sad...
  13. This metal band has been around for years, but I did a search and didn't find any threads about them. "All Shall Perish" is their name...
  14. QUOTE (Priest of Syrinx @ Apr 17 2012, 02:02 PM) QUOTE (Gompers @ Apr 17 2012, 01:19 PM) QUOTE (RodrigoAltaf @ Apr 17 2012, 01:27 PM)My guess is that Dream Theater will record another album and do a full tour with Mangini, and then realize they need to get Mike Portnoy back. I, for one, hope it happens soon! Mangini may have a lot more tricks in his bag, but no drummer in this world has more charisma than Mike Portnoy. MP is over-rated, IMO. I don't think MP is overrated as much as he's gotten a little stale. I'm no drummer, but it sounds like he does a lot of the same rhythms and grooves (and whatever else) over and over again. I'm looking forward to Mangini's future contributions.
  15. QUOTE (Tick @ Apr 17 2012, 11:12 AM) QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Apr 17 2012, 10:38 AM) So, the show i'm going to is being advertised as An Evening With Dream Theater on it's web page http://www.artpark.net/content/pages/mains...s-dream-theater Does anyone know if they're doing a presale for this tour? If so can you please PM the code? This show is reserved seating and I was looking to get up close if I could. I'm pretty sure ex King Crimson members are opening for all shows. Keep Dreamin...

  18. Totally had me until the dog walking and abundance of british smack... I'm sure it's about 5% for Bill, and "most of the money goes to advertisers, promotions, overhead. It all adds up, BIll. Sign here. IT's around $8m usd for jamming a few tunes..." -Sharon

  20. QUOTE (Good, bad, andrush @ Mar 13 2012, 04:44 PM) My iPad won't let me...I wish I could help, I'll try on a computer later. I cannot vote on my android phone, either. I tried. I'm going to check out those two videos I saw thumbs for...
  21. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Mar 13 2012, 02:27 PM) They said in an interview that they'll be touring in the spring and will possibly come back to North America in the summer. I'd like to see them again at pine knob... (DTE)
  22. Got my house broken into last monday (took m y 42" hdtv, new bluray, new dvd), then saturday my new car was missing out of my driveway without a clue. Police still haven't found it. Cannot move til house is up to code and i sell it unless i want to walk away from my life savings. I cannot insure it for a reasonable amount due to "no C of O" yet. I'm just going to use my tax refund to fix last few things up and get it on the market, hopefully sell it. Next door neighbor just happened to get out of prison just before all this happened. Oh, and last year, when he was out on parole, $5000 usd worth of atv's, motorcycles and stuff went missing. Hmmmm... If one person comments back and suggests I move, I will... cannot say on here.
