  1. I saw Rush at least 10 times before 1985 Lorraine! I was probably pretty high in those days, and you want me to remember dates 30 years later?
  2. Can we post spoilers now? THEY PLAYED XANADU! AND WITH DOUBLENECKS!!!!
  3. I'm not worried, they'll be back. The boys are just having too much fun out there. As for Neil, he's jus a drummer and can be replaced. Kidding people! He's obviously irreplaceable, but I think back to their first show after Neil's personal tragedies. He said "it would have been a shame if we never did this again". I think the same thing will happen again, playing live is addictive and the longer you don't do it, the more that addiction calls to you. Look for a 10 city tour next summer.
  4. It's be fun to take my guitar and a practice amp and to a Tom Sawyer video right there.
  5. Anybody know what happened at the auction?
  6. Problem is that with the state of the music biz, doing an album and not supporting it with a tour is like pouring money down a sink hole. No doubt these guys like making music, but they are not stupid. There will be more tours, probably in the 10 -15 date area, but they will happen.
  7. I got my son a shirt too. I told my wife this morning. She said, "No you didn't." I said that, in fact, I had. She asked "Is it black?" When I told her it was, he picked the R40 shirt with the tour dates on the back, she said "Oh my God" with a look of horror on her face. It was priceless. The big starman one? That's the one I got... actually wearing it today because we have a company picnic Actually we bought one of the bootleg shirts outside for $20. Would have liked to by an official one but there were no vendors on the 300 level and none that we passed when we were exiting the building. When the door closed behind us when we left my son said "what about my shirt?". Anyway, I kind of like the boot shirt better as I think modern day concert shirts are just a little overdone with too much colour and too big of a graphic. But I'm not a real supporter of bootleggers and scalpers.

    wow

I know exactly where you are coming from. Back in the 70s and 80s I used to do a lot of concert photography and was lucky enough to shoot Rush from the front few rows many times. There were several occasion where Alex in particular would see me and strike a pose for my camera. Its a pretty cool feeling when with 20,000 people there, they have a personal moment with you. Beats the hell out of catching a guitar pick!
  9. I took my son to his first concert ever, Friday's show at the ACC. He's 18 and has always had an ear for classic rock, and given that Alex made a number of appearances on Trailer Park Boys, Rush has always been kind of cool in his eyes. Anyway, I was a little apprehensive because he has a short attention span and has a habit of wanting to leave places shortly after getting there. Not to worry, from the time the lights went down he was mesmerized by every aspect of the show. When Ged would playfully dance across the stage or when Alex would nail a solo, I'd turn and see his eye's wide and a grin across his face. I really don't think he expected the musicianship to be so complex, the lights and lasers to be so dazzling, and the crowd to be so in to it. A great first concert experience, so much so that he actually asked for a tour jersey after the show!
  10. Meh, you guys and your spoilers. I knew exactly what they were going to play and it didn't affect the show one bit. In fact it gave me the opportunity to re-familiarize myself with some of the older tunes. Its actually kind of annoying at the shows when overtime they break in to a new tune some guy is yelling "they're playing this song! Man I can't believe they're playing this song! WOOED THIS SJONG!!!!..."
  11. I'm sure they will use bits and pieces of both shows at least for the visuals. From what I've heard the Friday show is probably going to be featured for most of the audio though. That was my second DVD show, I was at Maple Leaf Gardens for the GUP taping. Oddly enough I still haven't seen that DVD. I do have the little piece of paper that they put on every seat welcoming us to the show. Bet there isn't too many of those around.
  12. Well all I can say is that I was glad that I picked the Friday show instead of the Wednesday show. That truly was a memorable moment and I'll admit that I teared up a little bit. Not so much from sadness, more from just being so damn proud of those guys. So talented and such a big part of so many peoples lives.
  13. I tell you, the guys seemed in really fine form last night. I didn't hear one bad note all night, and then they played this! Man oh man, what a show...
  14. Im holding them for a few minutes. They should show up again soon
  15. There were a handful of floors up this morning.
  16. For us in Toronto I very much doubt that these will be the last shows. Its the last "major tour" yes, but whatever they do in the future, I'm sure it will include Toronto.
  17. Ended up buying a last minute pair on Ticketmaster. 300 level, but front row and on Alex's side to boot.
  18. I saw this one on the ticket exchange this morning... David Coccio 21 hrs have one ticket for sale MSG NYC Monday the 29th June 17th row Alex's side sec Floor A, seat #9 hate to sell this one unfortunately cannot make the show frown emoticon asking what I paid.. $498.25
  19. Unfortunately I don't partake in anything I deem to be scalping. I've got no problem paying face value for a ticket but not a dime more. Its amazing to see these parasites trying to pedal $65 300 level seats for $300.
  20. The day before the Columbus show, TM opened up about 50 tickets. Some in very close sections for 89 bucks. Thats what I'm hoping for now. I figure by noon tomorrow the side stage tickets should become available.
  21. Unfortunately not Lorraine, the financial company I work for has no affiliation with the ACC.
  22. Ya but ticketmaster has been completely sold out for weeks. On the bright side, I work right at the arena so when they do the set up on Wednesday the should be releasing a bunch of side stage seat which I really like, and I can snag a pair pretty quick. Tickets at the box office are a lot cheaper as well.
  23. Yep I've been on the ticket exchange. I've messaged one person there, just waiting for a response. I just feel more comfortable meeting in person and buying hard tickets, and everybody seems to be well out of the city. Just don't want to get burned.
  24. Despite all their ailments I believe that the guys just don't want to be away from home for huge chunks of time. Neil has a young kid and Alex has grandkids, and they just want to be there. Its one thing to say you just want to do a small number of dates but the huge production costs don't make short tours feasible. I'm pretty certain that the end of this tour does not mean the end of the band as a live act, but anything in the future will be a more stripped down tour, at a handful of stops.
