  1. Communication is key. Sadly I can recognize some of those things in me, which led me with a broken heart now a year after. I think having an open and honest conversation, might help bringing in a deeper understanding and appreciation in your marriage. I'm hoping the best for you both :)
  2. Love Dustin Hoffman. May I suggest watching Inside The Actors Studio? http://youtu.be/brYf9HanYME
  3. I went into this thread thinking about the "you can do a lot in a lifetime" part of Marathon, but now I get goosebumps just by reading your answers. I think every Rush song has a goosebumps moments ;)
  4. Glad to see you write that, 'cause then it's not just me. I don't know how but the way Wood and Richards play their guitars, makes it feel like they don't give a shit. Maybe too laid back for my liking? And Jagger prancing around singing all over the beat. Yeah, I think they're sloppy and overrated also.
  5. Yep, who is she? I think that's Emma Watson. It is. A little time on Google with the right search words is all I need ;)
  6. All I care for is Spindrift82's signature. Not the one with bananas.
  7. Does any of you know if Madix is using earplugs? It could explain the excessive highs? My experience was that after 3 or 4 songs in, he had tamed it a bit. I meassured the Sound Pressure Level halfway between the FOH and the stage and got a reading avagering 98db. That gives you about 3 hours before it becomes fatigueing and damaging. 98dbs ain't that much of a rock concert. Heck, I practice louder with my band ;)
  8. I have an anti-static brush that I'm using, but it rarely takes it all. Sometimes it looks like the dust is in the grooves and then the brush won't work. I haven't tried washing my records because I am afraid I might destroy them. Some stores offer products for cleaning records, but is it just the same in the end?
  9. I just hope they keep their dynamics. Clockwork Angels, stellar album as it is, has only around 6db of dynamic range. Seems like it's the way records sound these days, but songwise I don't mind them being heavy
  10. I wouldn't buy anything from China off of eBay. I only buy from europe, otherwise I have to pay taxes and import fees making my purchase way way too expensive. It really is buyers beware. Doesn't Paypal have the option to send your money back if you have encountered fraud?
  11. Oh no, it goes back a long time. Oldest example off the top of my head would be KCs USA, where most of David Cross' parts had to be re-done by Eddie Jobson. Okay, did not know that. But we make the same point :)
  12. It's common practice to "patch it up" in the studio afterwards. Think it was Kiss who started it, because back in the day they wanted their energy from live shows to come across on recordings. It never worked until they put some overdubs on it. I can't remember which documentary it was I saw, so please take my word for it. Another example is Peter Gabriel's Plays Live album. The liner notes states as follows: 'Although this album was compiled from four concerts in the mid-west of the United States, some additional recording took place not a thousand miles away from the home of the artiste. The generic term of this process is "cheating". Care has been taken to keep the essence of the gigs intact, including "human imperfection". The producers.' Personally it doesn't bother me, as long as it's not a complete re-recording of the concert.
  13. Just a quick question to my fellow vinyl enthusiasts. Do you clean your records, and if so with what? I have a few records with too much dirt and grime in the grooves, and it's bothering me. After I got my Mofi release of Permanent Waves, I have heard how quiet a record can be.
  14. I usually wear earplugs, but I forgot them at my Rush concert. I was told they play insanely loud (which I don't agree with), so I was kinda prepared for ringing ears. The sound pressure level weren't that high as I would have expected, however the mix sounded like it was intended for listening with earplugs. The high end range of the spectrum was way too dominant, which is usually the area that gets attenuated by earplugs. Madix did correct it though. Next to me stood two young boys, with their fingers in their ears. Kids have more sensitive ears, so I would advice you (and everyone) to bring along earplugs. They're good to have, and you can always take them out if need be. Better safe than sorry as they say :)
  15. I see why she would be an ex Yeah, good thing you dropped her. Well, actually she dumped me. Ran away with a guy from Spain a few months after. :sigh: I guess some day down the line I'll feel it's all for the better. After all she didn't like Rush ;)
  16. Honestly, music is the last thing that's occupying my mind while in bed with a girl. I prefer the sounds she makes :smoke: . Btw, my ex-girlfriend always got a headache from YYZ so that was a real mood killer
  17. Why, oh why? The last years stress gave me grey hair on the side of my head. I was so happy. Now I fear they have vanished cause I have a hard time finding them. I'm gonna be a Silverfox to the point I'll have to beat the ladies off me with a stick. Don't guys know chicks dig it? :codger:
  18. I predict someone will claim they already had one ;) :syrinx:
  19. I would say yes, but as I'm not a woman and attracted to them, I'll leave it up to the fine women of this board to decide
  20. Peter Gabriel in September. Second time seeing him, last time was in 2004 :)
  21. Thanks. I got nothing on my weekend agenda sadly. Might do some cleaning around the appartment when I get bored ;)
  22. I hate almost every pop. Yes, hate is the right word here. "But he/she writes their own songs" - Still crap to me. "But he/she sings live" - Doesn't matter to me. Still crap. And why do they have to spoonfeed us half-naked prostitute looking dancers in the background, not to mention the singer too? I hate that choregraphed shallow form of entertainment. I think I need some fresh air ;)
  23. They could eat canned beans and fart in their microphones for three hours, and I would probably think it's the most progressive farts ever heard ;) What I mean is that Rush can't possibly please everybody, and while I'd love hear all their greatests hits at a show, the fact that they played a lot of deep cuts didn't ruin the show (I wasn't at Saragota) for me. I sometimes get the feeling that you North Americans are way too spoiled. You have had the possibility of seeing them live for so many decades, and still some people just want a Greatests Hits show? Being from Europe I'll take whatever they serve :)
