The Album Cover...What Are Some Of Your Favs?
pjbear05 replied to The Cat 3's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Any of Roger Dean's covers for Yes. Pick 'em. -
As far as some "German" beers going South, not surprising. Spaten-Franziskaner-Brau is now owned by macro brew conglomerate Anheuser-Busch InBev. Who has tried taking over even the crafts. They lured Goose Island in, but when the tried with Dogfish Head, owner Sam Calagione basically said, "piss off, trolls."

Which of your ‘things’ are you so inexplicably attached to?

Cool. I’m interested in collections like that. My mom has an angel collection and my sister-in-law has a Santa one. Both collections contain pieces from around the world. It’s cool to look at them when they’re all on display. I guess I have my own with action figures, though I don’t keep them in boxes or under ideal preserving circumstances. I just like to look at them from time to time. Have you got any favorite bears in your collection? Oh yes! When Karen showed me her 1st bear, which was on layaway I looked it over. But as I did, I kept looking at this other bear. It was smiling at me! I gave the store owner Karen's bear and walked over to a table of bears- most of them smiling at me. The owner says to Karen, "Oh Lord, he's going for to Beaver Valley, you're in trouble." That started my love of bears, and Washington artist Kaylee Nilan's Beaver Valley Bears, some of which appear to be smiling due to a hinged jaw you can open and close-a jaw that also has palates and teeth cast from polyresin. I have 2 Beaver Valley bears, both signed and numbered limited editions. Those are my top two favorites - but when you get bit by that bug, it can bite hard! One of our friends had what I call a "Steiff case", Steiff being the German company synonymous with Teddy bears. A display case with some 25 bears, all limited editions, and at the time (early 1990's), none valued at less than $5K each. That value has likely dropped some, but like I said, when you get bit... -
Figured git-r-done before hurricanes start blowing, had the two black olive trees on my property and my neighbors tree, which was growing over the fence and into my power lines, trimmed way back. Next tackle the palm trees and hibiscus plants along the fence lines.

My teddy bears. Collectible and artist bears. A number of limited editions and one offs. Karen started the collection, and I finshed it. They're all over the house, close to 100 pieces total. -
which are ice cold. free goes along way and i can drink most beers. not scotch ale. german beer is hit or miss for me. lambics and other open fermented beers are not my cup of tea either. most mexican beers are ok but in general avoid them due to their "B" status. yikes PBR me ASAP Don't count Beck's as a hit or miss German beer. When it was imported to the U.S., it had a great taste. As soon as it got taken over by a brewery in St. Louis, Missouri, it naturally turned into piss. It was usually good but not always. Not the fault of the brewer but at times in the 80s i would encounter a batch past their expiration date. I liked becks and especially becks dark. I was actually thinking about german wheat beers and I think Spaten which kicked my ass once. German beer wasnt the only offender in the pre micro brew days to be like that. I cant the remember the last saint pauli or grolsch i drank. used to love them both You want a German wheat beer to kick your ass, Try Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse Dunkel. Yeah, that's the ticket.

The Beatles, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones or The Who?
pjbear05 replied to The Cat 3's topic in Music Of The Spheres
The Who, based on the strength and ferocity of their instrumental work. I listened to the other 3, along with the other Brit Invasion bands when they were coming out, but I was also very into the music of an upstart record label from back home in Detroit. The Who, Beatles, Stones, Kinks. -

BWAHAHA, no chance, we have enough idiots running sports like Jeter, Steve Ross, and Micky Arison. Even though types like The Terrible Illitches would fit right in. -
DeSantis to Hannity: Marlins Not Selling Out.
pjbear05 replied to pjbear05's topic in One Little Victory
There were a load of empty seats, but enough suckers, err, customers bought seat to "sell out" to prevent a black out of the local broadcast. but there's probably that breed of fish in every pond. Equally, if not more important, they f***ed over the taxpayers to get a new stadium built on their dime. Hoo boy, did they ever! Fortunately it was confined to Miami-Dade County-special sales tax assessment, bed tax on hotel/motel/notel rooms, similar foolishness.. Like P. T Barnum said, born every minute. -
During an interview on Sean Hannity's radio program, Governor Ron DeSantis bemoans the low attendance figures for the Miami Marlins: https://enewspaper.sun-sentinel.com/html5/mobile/production/default.aspx?pubid=09c7c801-e32b-4036-b4e3-001ebe0a7176&edid=6103336b-1f56-449a-b305-713c0fcca6b1 Governor, is there a remote possibility the reason for this is the mere fact is- THE MIAMI MARLINS SUCK?
