  1. Does anyone know if they accept Vinyl, or if it's too big? I have a spare copy of Power Windows (My favorite allbum) that I would love to get signed.
  2. I don't know, and did not vote, because I think I have a mix bag of traits from all of them From Alex, I have a sporadic sense of humor, never very serious, and I could see myself being most like him on stage. Oh also I enjoy golfing like alex From Geddy, I do have a mixbag off interests and hobbies like him, I definatly allign myself with his instrument choices, and I have conversations like he has interviews, start serious, but laid back and calm, then squeeze in a joke if I can find it. Also I do have trouble standing still like Geddy tends to roam on stage From Neil, I am a huge introvert, and best spend time alone, though I have a slightly easier time getting into conversations, I am not famous like him, so I don't know how that affects him.
  3. Wow this topic is pushed back and forth alot. I know for sure they do use the click track on some songs, they confirmed in an interview "Time stand still is one of the few songs we have to run a click track on". Any way, I know they already do use click for songs that either has a continuing synth loop like in leave that thing alone, or Grand Designs, because either it is very hard to do without (in the case of the vocals on TSS), or just is justified for the continuous sound. Despite this, they say they prefer not to use click, and do all the triggers themself to avoid it because it really limits their freedom as musicians. If they wanted to, I would not mind, but I am sure they will keep away from it as best they can.
  4. Speaking for the minority opinion out there, but there is nothing appealing to me for ATWAS, it sounds rough unpolished, etc. And though it may be the sound that the generic 70s only Rush fans like, it does not strike many chords for me. Unlike Rush's other Live Albums, I rarely give this one a play, partly because it's from my least favorite era of Rush, and partly because it's just unfriendly on the ears. For me the best of the old live albums is ASOH because it added a little raw feel to the nicely polished synth era to give a new feeling to the music, meanwhile finding a good balance between the overpowering audience from ATWAS and the non-existant audience from ESL. Quite frankly as soon as my IPod space runs out, this will be the first album to go.
  5. Coolest name for me is Oingo Boingo. Also the most distant name from any other band on this list, but Owl City I think is awesome as well. Finaly if I ever started a band, I think Dark Ride, or Coin-op would be neat.
  6. I usually play it during my car trips between Brandon and Winnipeg. It's just one of those albums that has to go uninterupted
  7. Yeah the 90s era (Presto included) is my second favorite, only lesser to the synth era (Sig-HF). I think a good reason for playing the 90s albums more is because they have more of a standalone track feel to them, where you can be satisfied to listen to a couple of songs and stop, where-as you would not want to be interupted on albums like CA, PW, or AFOK.
  8. The Beatles for sure, also Bon Jovi gets way more credit than they deserve
  9. Actually 2112 means either all of it minus Oracle, all minus Discovery and Oracle, or Overture and Temples
  10. Off the top of my head, and guessing For Alex, any song where he has to put his pick in his mouth and play the keys could be hard if the transfer has to quick, think Time Stand Still, otherwise, TSOR must be tiring, and the live working man solos sound taxing For Geddy, I know for a fact that it's a pain to play the chords in Force ten, I don't know how he does it. Alot of the Power Windows album has a good chunk of bass and keyboard triggers to manage. Singing wise Cygnus X-1 takes the cake for the C Sharp 5 note at the end. If Geddy played every key note hands down the difficulty would go to the middle section of Grand Designs For Neil, Certainly Xanadu had him dancing around his kit to hit all the extra percussion, and the weapon has a very mentaly grading opening line for electronic stuff. Otherwise I don't know, I don't know the difficulty for drums as much.
  11. Yeah the reason they cut out the songs on the disc was to keep it to a 2 disc set, and they picked out 8 lesser known songs that were on R30 to cut. The cut on the DVD was to co-incide with the CD release. Meanwhile they began to release the missing songs as bonus features on other DVDs. If I remember correctly, Red sector A was on Snakes and Arrows Live, One Little Victory was on Working Men, Secret Touch could be found on the DVD for retrospective 3, and Bravado and YYZ were on Beyond the Lighted Stage. Later when the Blu-Ray came out the 8 missing songs were restored. I think Geddy mentioned in an interview that he did not know why they came to the decision to cut the 8 songs as there was no point beyond preventing redundancy.
  12. Here is where your wrong. Everything was better Signals onward
  13. Yeah I was out in Austin TX For a percussion conference, and I got more compliments for my rush shirts from girls than guys! Not to mention I spent most of my time with Chromey
  14. So can anyone fill me in on who I should address the package (care of) to for the clockwork angels 2013? I am risking one of my Vinyl copies of Power Windows, so it wont be a total loss if I don't get it back, but I would hate to not get the package just because I addressed it to the wrong person.
  15. Well I found it funny for the fact that of all the songs picked, they went with Rivendell and the epics from Carres of Steel.
  16. Well I was checking a canadian news archive to see what happened on my birthday when I though I would check the Rush Birthdays too. Geddy appeared in the births section and this is what it said Also Geddy Lee 1953- rock & roll singer, bass guitarist, keyboard player, born on this day in Toronto in 1953. Lee founded the Canadian rock group Rush in 1968 with guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer John Rutsey. Rutsey left after Rush's first album in 1974, and was replaced by Neil Peart. Million selling albums include 2112, Moving Pictures, All the World's a Stage and Signals; hit singles include Rivendell, By-Tor and the Snow Dog, Necromancer, The Fountain of Lamneth, Distant Early Warning; sang on Bob and Doug McKenzie's Great White North song 'Take Off.' The band was recently awarded the Order of Canada. Anyone notice any errors, or perhaps dreams. here it the original page: http://www1.sympatico.ca/cgi-bin/on_this_day?mth=Jul&day=29
  17. I checked the novel version, his hand is black, but I think in my record it's white. Odd, maybe he was never black, but they were trying to show that he had alot of oil and dirt on his hands from being in the streets and working on the carnival.
  18. Rush Songs to set off Fireworks too! I get fireworks from my Aunt and Uncle every year to set off at my cabin for my family to watch, and I have for a long time contemplated playing music along with them, as it would be a great way to force people to indulge in my tastes. However I never have because A: I don't have any powerful speakers that could match the bang of the fireworks B: I would not want those speakers damaged, so I would be fearful if a firework would fall over (one of mine from way back killed a Barbecue and nearly got another aunt), C: I would feel like I am forcing people to listen to my music due to the delay between lighting them (including the painful process of finding the wick), and D: the timing of the shots would be terrible. Anyway, I still contemplate doing it every year, and if I ever will, I would likely include some of these songs (along with some Oingo Boingo and Owl City). The Rambling ends here, the songs are in no particular order and outplay the length of the show (just speculation) Dreamline Grand Designs The Big Money Force Ten Distant Early Warning just the intros of 2112 and Cygnus X-1 book 1 Snippits of Xanadu Marathon Caravan The Anarchist Carnies The Weapon Headlong Flight By-Tor and the snow dog Neils electronic drum solo from the CA tour Sure there are plenty more that would possibly work great by accidental timing. In retrospect the entire Power Windows album has a nice bang to it. To any one that cares here are the other songs I would consider From Oingo Boingo: Dead Mans Party, Just Another Day, No One lives forever, Gratitude, Good for your soul, Grey Matter, Home Again, Elevator man, When the lights go out, Insanity, War Again From Owl City: Galaxies, Dreams and Disasters, Cave in, How I became the sea, Early Birdie, Umbrella Beach, Hello Seatle Remix

  21. Definatly have to go with Danny Elfman when he was in Oingo Boingo, I have never see a bootleg of him where he wasent full of energy.
  22. Well, looks like your choices are Vancouver, Calgary, or the maritimes
  23. My four The Body electric/Middle Town Dreams becomes Kid Gloves/Emotion Detector Halo effect with Distant early Warning (played after the garden) Put Dreamline in Tom Sawyer's Spot and in Dreamline's old spot put Prime Mover (People are going to hate me for this) 2112 with Marathon (if a fifth could be picked) Red Sector A with Jacobs Ladder/Xanadu (would really like these ones, but I had to clean out the low points on the list first (no disrespect for Middletown dreams, but get another PW song out there is my dream))
  24. My List (Honorable mentions to Making Memories which though I love, does not fit in the set of my other selections, and Freeze, which needs to played with the rest of fear) Face Up Chain Lightning You Bet Your Life The Colour of Right Everyday Glory Red Tide Available Light Second Nature Losing It Emotion Detector
