  1. Hmmm. 80%. That's a B minus. Almost a C. So you feel it's just a tiny bit above average?
  2. QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Jun 25 2012, 11:38 AM) I've probably listened to the full record at least 30 times now, and just can't get enough. With every listen it still gets better and I absolutely love it. Haven't been skipping any songs, they are all golden in my mind and the order is perfect. My band had an out of town gig over the weekend and I put in the CD when we departed and it never left the player the entire trip. My bass player summed it up pretty well and declared the album "Riff-Topia", which we all agreed. I love this album and couldn't be more pleased with it. There are hints of some many previous years within the songs. Can't wait to hear it live! Well said! Riff-Topia!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Definitely David Campbell's added strings. Says so on the album insert.
  4. QUOTE (Captain Avatar @ Jun 25 2012, 12:01 AM)QUOTE (Jmo2112 @ Jun 24 2012, 10:17 PM) The Garden is the perfect album closer. If this were to be Rush's last album I think that would be a beautiful sentiment to end with. Kind of gives me the same kind of eternal/timeless vibe as Vital Signz. I love Vital Signz! Why, thank you!
  5. The album is metaphorical for Neil. Now he is tending his Garden. His family, home, his age etc... He went thru the Gruber years, his own rebirth and discovery, his coming to terms with those he just wishes well, and now he is tending to his Garden. The order of the songs is all about him.
  6. This guy, who reviewed Clockwork Angels, either had a CD or Vinyl or download that had a Pedlar ii portion that asked "What do you lack", or he lied during his review: http://www.modernrockreview.com/2012-06/20...ockwork-angels/

  8. I was the guy who started the thread about The Garden maybe being my favorite Rush song ever. However, this album has grown on me so much that for the first time ever I have to say I have to abstain from voting for a favorite song because I love them all so much & I honestly have no favorite song. Daily it switches from Clockwork Angels, to Seven Cities, to The Anarchist, to Headlong Flight, to Carnies, to The Garden, to Halo Effect, to The Wreckers. Sometimes it switches two or three times within a day. One thing is for sure-- for me Caravan, BU2B and BU2B2 are not in the running. But I absolutely love them too. I had gone back over all of the prior Rush catalog, and looked at all of the songs on all of the albums, and only 4 had albums I do not ever skip when listening... Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and A Farewell To Kings. Clockwork Angels I now add to that list. All of those albums I could easily pick a favorite song off of though--the first time I ever heard them to even now. Clockwork Angels I just can't. Sorry for such a long winded answer. Maybe next week.
  9. Never underestimate the power of a kind word.....
  10. OK. You are born in 1962, from St Catharines, It's Neil. Not Neal. NEIL. NOT NEAL. Ok. Now type Neil for me. One Time. C'mon now. Show me what you got.
  11. I have to disagree. I think it looks more like it is on 9:11 not 9:12.
  12. You are soooooo right! Awesome find.
  13. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jun 21 2012, 12:06 PM) QUOTE (CantStopThinkingBig @ Jun 20 2012, 08:18 PM) Don't get me wrong, it's a good album... and it blows away S&A (which isn't hard to do). But I'm just feeling a bit underwhelmed. Maybe I expected too much... maybe it was all the anticipation. I also feel like the 3 singles we got to hear ahead of time are the main highlights of the album, so everything else is just "meh". I don't know... maybe I need to give it more time. I agree. Its terrifically mediocre, imo. I would love to know what you like listening to
  14. QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 22 2012, 07:06 PM) Don't get me wrong I liked it right off the bat but there is just something about this record unlike any of their others in that it seems to get better and better the more you listen. I've heard countless people comment on this on another message board. I think the vocal melodies are a little harder to grasp right off the bat but when they click they are oh so good. What you say? BTW: This record has now vaulted to my #4 of all time. I didn't even think that was possible at this stage. That's right where I placed it 2 days after its release--after Hemi, PeW and MP.

  16. Man, I really like this. My compliments to you and your talent!
  17. Marathon Manhattan Project Tears Different Strings Losing It Jacob's Ladder These are the big ones. Lets come up with a list that really works.
  18. I can see them doing the entire Clockwork Angels suite as set one and opening with Caravan, and then doing set two with classics like Jacob's Ladder, Losing It, and maybe a few other numbers with the orchestra, then excusing them and finishing with classics. This seems to make more sense to me than doing older numbers first then bringing out the orchestra mid set, and leading into the newer material in the second set.
  19. This will be great! http://www.steampunkemporium.com/steam.php...CFRP0tgodSSX43g quite the visual accompaniment to their already steampunked out stage....
  20. That baby is destined for greatness!!!!!!!!!!
  21. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 18 2012, 12:28 AM) Clockwork Angels is DEFINITELY better than: Vapor Trails Test For Echo Roll The Bones Presto 2112 Hold Your Fire Rush Fly By Night Power Windows Counterparts Caress of Steel Snakes & Arrows Grace Under Pressure Clockwork Angels is DEFINITELY NOT better than: Hemispheres Moving Pictures Permanent Waves Clockwork Angels MIGHT be better than: A Farewell To Kings Signals Just the fact that you are comparing a Whole Concept Album and a total of 12 songs against albums normally containing between 8 to 10 songs should give CA an edge over most. This is exactly what I would have posted.
  22. QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Jun 17 2012, 04:46 PM) Sorry to disagree but it's cheezy. I have to disagree with you... I think it is verrryyy cool to tell the listener that things are about to change quickly and it gives me a feel of it all being that much more intimate. I think the stick count is like a ticking sound to the listener, and Alex's open barre chords played cleanly, picking out the four notes that ring out over and over again, sound very clock-chime like... I think its all intentional IMHO...
  23. To all of you fellow Dad's and to anyone who is a father to be!
