  1. Earthshine's chorus at the end is enunciated differently then the original track.. Sounds like a different take. Just one of the main differences I've heard... This album is so awesome... again!!
  2. I think signals is the one with the most baseball references... Each of the guys is listed in the liner notes as "playing" first base, second base, or pitcher (I think Neil was pitcher) But getting back to Face Up, I really don't see the baseball references except for maybe: "I'm on a roll now Or is it a slide? Can't be too careful With that dangerous pride If I could only reach that dial inside And turn it up Face up...Face up or you can only back down Face up...Hit the target or you better hit the ground Face up...There's still time to turn the game around" I mean I can kinda see the references in turning the game around. I kinda feel like it could be talking about stealing a base? But who knows.... only Neil...
  3. Dreamline - As much as I like this song, it has been played on almost every single tour since RTB!! I mean it is a great song, but after it gets played over and over again, it can be quite tiresome. It's almost has the status of Tom Sawyer. But you can then argue about why I'm not complaining about songs like TSOR, YYZ, or Subdivisions. It is simply because I believe that those songs were made to be played live... They can be very "dangerous" to play live, but they also get the whole crowd going because most people enjoy those parts of the RUSH catalog. Sorry about that, I mean Dreamline has great moments in it, especially live, but its a song that gets too much attention and is overplayed. Jacob's Ladder - I personally just don't get it... I never have, and as much as I've tried to get into it, I can't see why people love it soooooo much. I just don't think its all that great. However, one day I may come around... That's just my opinion, please don't burn me at the stake... 2112 - I love the Overtures and Syrinx. They are the greatest parts of that piece, but after that, as many others have pointed out, it kinda drags and is just strung together by mediocre filler. Although, at one point I really did love this song in its entirety, but after the 1st two parts nowadays, its kinda boring... Tom Sawyer - Do I really need to say anything? And finally, tied for 5th, Limelight and Closer To The Heart - They both are staples to RUSH, but being overplayed and constantly being called their "best song" by casual fans really tends me to dislike these songs... sometimes. I really do like both of these songs, but when they start being overplayed (concert and radio) and recycled again and again, it gets boring.... Overall though, I find all of their work vastly exciting. Every week it seems I start to drift to different tangents of their career whether it be the early years, gilded age, or the synthy stages...
  4. Freeze, Kid Gloves, Turn The Page, Grand Designs, Cut To The Chase, Beneath, Between, Behind, and Bravado... I still can't get into half of HYF (Mission, Open Secrets Second Nature, Prime Mover), most of Test For Echo, and the shorter songs on AFTK (AFTK, Madrigal, Cinderella Man)... Maybe one day I'll come around...
  5. I mean, you can find the R30 Blu-Ray on ebay for like $10- $15... At least I found it that way...It has no bonus features, but includes all of the missing songs from the DVD from the frankfurt performance. (Bravado, YYZ, The Trees, Secret Touch, Red Sector A, La Villa, and By-tor). Its a jampacked full 3 hour blu ray. And when I mean 3 hours, I mean up to and past three hours, so it is an incredible BluRay and has an excellent mix on it. In my opinon, the best out of all. But, if you already have the DVD, you could simply just get(if you don't already have) Beyond The Lighted Stage which has YYZ and Bravado from R30 and a couple others if I'm not mistaken. Its up to you, but if you're like me, you'll get them all :D
  6. I personally didn't notice a difference until taking a closer look and comparing S&A with the R30 bluray. In terms of video and audio, there are slight difference. S&A is a little higher quality(not much, but noticeable). However, in my opinion, R30 has the better mix. The guitar is more distinguishable and set in the mix, and I think it has a better sound to it overall. I mean, it's ten of one and ten of the other.... If you are contemplating getting the S&A BluRay, DO IT!!! There is such great stuff on the blu ray... The authorized bootlegs of the extra songs from the tour makes it well worth it (Ghost of A Chance, Red Barchetta, The Trees, 2112). And the concert is quite good as well...
  7. Now, I understand it was played last tour and they had to make room for newer songs, but why did they have to cut BU2B. This was my first tour seeing the guys live, so before the set was released, I was really excited to see this one live. I mean it is a kick-ass track, and in my opinion one of the (many) strong tracks on the album. They could've easily switched it out with a song like WTW since there isn't as big of a popularity that follows that one. I mean, I don't know. It was an OUTSTANDING tour and set regardless!!! The absence of the song was not noticeable at the time, but I think it would've been sweeter with BU2B's inclusion. Now Losing It is a whole other issue... Don't even get me started... ;)
  8. Whatever happened to my Transylvania Twist? :D
  9. I find that "The Anarchist" has one of the greatest last chorus/rideouts starting with "Ohh ohh, they tried to get me, ohh ohh they'll never forget me..." But the line that takes it home for that one is "The missing part of me that grows around me like a cage..." This song resonated with me in a completely different way then it probably was originally intended, and even Neil said that when Geddy first sang that part, it took on a completely different meaning then he had intended... But, in terms of classic early stuff, my absolute favorite chorus/rideout which I don't think anyone has mentioned is from The Analog Kid " When I leave I don't know What I'm hoping to find When I leave I don't know What I'm leaving behind..." That is my most favorite chorus ever, period...
  10. 1. Ghost of A Chance 2. Limbo 3. Where's My Thing? 4. New World Man 5. The Enemy Within 6. Different Strings 7. Turn The Page 8. Natural Science 9. Middletown Dreams 10. Afterimage Honorable Mentions: Kid Gloves, Twilight Zone, Superconductor, Scars, War Paint
  11. Neither set had limelight in it, so I'm assuming that song will not be included on the Blu-Ray/DVD... The "main" set that will be on the Blu-Ray/DVD will be from Dallas, and it went as so: FROM RIAB (http://www.rushisaba...php?tour_id=228) NIGHT A version 5* Set 1: Video Intro (Gearing Up) Subdivisions The Big Money Force 10 Grand Designs The Body Electric Territories Analog Kid Bravado Where's My Thing (with drum solo) Far Cry Intermission (Clockwork Angels String Ensemble enters) Set 2: Video Intro (The Appointment) Caravan Clockwork Angels The Anarchist Carnies The Wreckers Headlong Flight (with drum solo) Halo Effect (with guitar solo intro) Seven Cities Of Gold Wish Them Well The Garden Dreamline The Percussor (drum solo) Red Sector A YYZ (Clockwork Angels String Ensemble exits) The Spirit of Radio Encore: Tom Sawyer 2112 Overture/Temples of Syrinx/Grand Finale Video Outro (Office Of The Watchmaker) I don't know how they are going to integrate Manhattan Project, The Pass, and Middletown Dreams into the Blu-Ray/DVD, most likely they'll be in a bonus features section like Oh Atlanta! was on S&A...
  12. This tour has been a blast! Originally, I was disappointed with opening night's setlist, but as it evolved I fell in love with it. I was lucky enough to get to see all but 2 songs they played on this tour (working man and TBE). For my first RUSH concert it was absolutely incredible and then for AC it was so much better. These guys truly gain momentum as they go through the tour. I remember disputing whether it was worth it to go see these guys live before I became a huge fan. It's awesome to see an older band create awesome music in this day and age, in my generation, and then go out and perform it every other night. Once I heard CA, they had me sold. But I'm getting off into a tangent (I do that a lot), so I digress. Although it is disappointing that the tour is ending, this just builds the excitement for the next tour to come around. I personally am extremely excited since nobody knows what is next for the group. They deserve at least 2 years off, and at that time, I'll be a sophomore in college, at another stage in my life. I'm interested to see how much of a difference there really is between now and then. All for the best? Or some bizarre test? I think from now on, I'm a die hard RUSH fan, and I'm not going anywhere and neither are the guys!
  13. You guys all forgot my all time favorite RUSH song... Where's My Nose? But on a serious note, why do we all care about Neil's nose?
  14. I sung so loudly when all of my favs came through the set in AC. When I saw we got Limelight, I went ape shit crazy since it had only been my second time seeing the guys, and it was my first time seeing that song... I went crazy aswell when Bravado came around, because that told me we were going to get SET A and I had seen Set B in Philly. This one guy that was in the row in front of me and like 7 seats down turned around during Bravado and had a question of what album it was from. He didn't go to anyone else, just the ecstatic young rush fan. I was so loud and the father and so in front of me were jamming out just as hard. I think it enhances the experience, especially when you see others sing along like yourself. I mean, occasionally I feel I got a dead stare from some people behind me because of my enthusiasm, but I wished them well in the end :D During intermission, I apologized to everyone around me, and they were all cool with it... You're supposed to be at a rock concert to sing, dance, and have a good time.
  15. Was it similar to this one available on the RUSH Backstage Club? http://www.rushbackstage.com/rushbackstage/mens-apparel/vintage-star-1976-t-.html That one seems to be similar to your description. They even went as far as to give a vintage look I guess... As for my oldest/wearable RUSH shirt, it has to be my 2012 CA Black w/ Symbols from my first concert in Philly. I'm a newbie on the block, so I need to start adding older shirts to my collection!
  16. Ok... I think that part is lip synced, but in the end, everything else is LIVE (besides the triggered samples)!!! That is amazing to comprehend and never once did it take away from the performance when I saw them in Philly and then AC. It's not like they are like Roger Waters who lip synced/performed exact choreography for 80% of The Wall
  17. Subdivisions, CA 2013 Tour October 12th, Wells Fargo Center OMG, the whole building shook when Geddy played the first F#... The energy was so palpable and scintillating...
  18. The only song that I have not seen live on the tour was TBE... I can wait for the CA DVD/Blu-Ray for that! Seeing set A in AC and B in Philly was the best thing that could have happened... :sundog: Limelight was definitely a crowd energizer when they played it in AC. A lot of the casual/non-die hard fans really don't know songs like TBE and MD (They don't know what they're missing!) But since the guys have been rotating those three songs in and out randomly, who knows what they'll play next...
  19. I was so surprised that my seats were so awesome!!! Even though I was off to the far left in section 105, row 15 at the end of the row, I had an amazing view! It wasn't really all that far as I'd thought it would be. That was my first time ever on the floor level of a rush concert, and I don't think I'm ever going back to the bleachers! The energy down there was so awesome! That was my second time seeing the guys and it still is not enough! The venue was awesome, the only small, minor complaint I had was with parking... It took us nearly 15 mins to find a spot in the garage, but I guess that is what you get when you get there an hour before showtime. We would have been there earlier if a friggin' monsoon hadn't hit us on the Parkway lol... Force Ten was really appropriate at that point :D Oh and I want to say thank you to all those awesome people that I had the privilege of meeting all around me who put up with my singing throughout the entire concert. I was so excited last night, especially when they played the alternate set to the Philly show back in October with a few extra surprises. :) It was one of the greatest nights of my life...
  20. Tonight will be show #2 for me!!! I got hooked last October back in Philly!! These guys are so awesome... My goal is to see them at least 10 times before they call it quits, which will probably be never :7up: :D
