  1. Snakes, but early in the tour as mentioned above. Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet with other deep cuts, but the Mission on steroids was great. If only they had played Presto in this set list somewhere.........
  2. Madison Square Garden. Before the renovation that ruined it. The seats are tiny now.
  3. Ah yes. The Red Star album. That won a Darwin award.....or it should have.
  4. HEY NOW!! This thread is for bashing Countdown only!! Leave The Weapon alone or start your own thread. That song is awesome and the guitar work on it is so underrated it's not funny. I'd love to stop underlining everything, but the site won't cooperate........
  5. It's the only song on Signals I skip. The keyboard sounds are so dated, they sound like those clunky old video game sounds. The lyrics are clunky with the music. It would've made a nice story in Neil's diary, but never should have been put to music. Maybe if it was a good bit shorter I'd listen to it.
  6. I enjoy Presto, almost all of it. The only songs I skip are The Pass and Anagram. All 3 of them play very well and energetically on this album. And Rupert did and excellent job mixing the sounds he was given. That being said, it's the thinnest sounding album of the entire catalog, and that is the band's fault. Lerxst was entrenched in Signature guitars going through solid state Gallien Kruger amps. Geddy was going direct with the Wal basses which had no balls, no amps involved. Neil had changed some tom sizes and brought a tightness and lack of bottom end to his kit. None of this was Rupert's doing. Whoever mastered it helped the jazzy thin sound stand out by compressing the whole thing a bit and making it even 'sparklier' if you know what I mean..........
  7. I'd like to see the Hentor Sportscaster for any Signals or GUP tunes, and the Wal would be fine for a HYF tune. Just keep the Signature guitars and the Steinberger FAR away from those guys!
  8. I was going to tweak my ideas from last month, but it still looks realistic to me............. 2112 Overture Head Long Flight Driven Distant Early Warning Time Stand Still/Bravado Cut To The Chase Dreamline/Subdivisions Malignant Narcissism w/ short drum solo Jacob's Ladder (slightly shortened) Tom Sawyer Vital Signs New World Man Marathon/Force-10 Roll The Bones/Animate Show, Don't Tell Limelight YYZ/Drum Solo Natural Science Xanadu By-Tor & The Snowdog (shortened)---> The Necromancer (instrumental section w/Alex Solo)---> Working Man The Spirit Of Radio La Villa Strangiato
  9. Green isn't my color? WTF does that mean? Am I supposed to be envious of that tripe? Give me the Working Men CD over this any day of the week.
  10. Don't do it, Narp! You'll never get those 5 minutes back............save yourself.
  11. I wonder how much goo was all over the guitar when he was done. Jeez, talk about guitar masturbation. And this is from a guitar player that likes George Lynch. Can you add HORRID to the poll choices. I could produce it better in my project studio outside.
  12. Just wait until the show gets closer. You'll get the seat you want at a price you can accept. Last tour, I got 2nd row right in front of Geddy 2 days before the Jones Beach show. The price drop was worth the wait.
  13. Signals. Not because it came after MP or that it has too many keyboards. Because it sounds like it was recorded under water to me. The 2 albums on either side of it sound so good, I still can't understand how Signals sounded so weak from the same studio. My guesses range from Terry was not fully into the music and it reflected in the production, all the way to some other band had all the good recording mics in another room.
  14. Tai Shan. 'And the bathroom sang to me'.................
  15. The bottom line for me is, as long as it's NOT One Little Victory or Far Cry I'm okay with it. Those 2 songs just don't do much for me..........ever.
  16. We all know the likely suspects. Which song do you feel will kick off the tour on opening night? I'm going with Dreamline this go 'round. No scientific calculation, just a gut feeling. I'm hoping for a Dreamline, DEW b2b punch. They both work well early in the set.
  17. Narps(ki)berg and I obviously have great minds. We think alike on many areas of Rush preferences. I'd guess we are around the same age, sir....... In The End would be awesome, BUT Alex HAS to use that old echoplex pedal on the clean sound & Geddy HAS to '1,2, buckle my shoe'!!
  18. Good work poet. This is what I was talking in the older post about songs played throughout their career. Now, if we add in songs from VT or S&A that were played after their representative album tour, we'll get a great list for potential sets.
  19. The Spirit Of Radio was missing for some shows on one of the late 80s tours. I was at one of those shows.
  20. Narpski said all I would have with his first post..........though a couple off S&A took a bit for me to warm up to, mainly Spindrift & Faithless.
