  1. Tough. On the one hand I missed an instrumental, cause I like them. But there was a story so I understand. But then Ged's voice is going, but can't blame him.....so i dunno. Tough question. Mick
  2. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 12 2012, 03:15 PM) 4 votes for S&A yet 1 person admits it Proudly Mick
  3. Everybody knows by now my stance on CA....So S&A for me. Mick
  4. I don't about this breakdown crap but......in no order 1. Permanent Waves 2. Power Windows 3. Moving Pictures 4. Caress of Steel 5. Hold your Fire 6. Presto 7. Signals 8. Snakes and Arrows 9. Roll the Bones 10. Hemispheres (Only on the strength of side 2) Mick
  5. One of 2 Rush albums i would give a 1. just un-listenable to me. I'm sure there are Good tunes in there. Can't make it though without a headache though. Mick
  6. I agree. I listened to both albums back to back and found myself enjoying S&A WAY more. I just found myself liking it's folky elements. While CA to my ear sounds like by the numbers brick walled rock......with greatness sprinkled throughout. Say what you will....just IMO. Mick

    Rate S&A

I gave an 8.....yes an 8. I enjoy it very much. Save for Bravest Face, Good News First, Malnar, and We Hold on. Yes it's very anti-religion.....but so what. I think to, that the main Monkey Business is one of the best instrumentals they've done The production is not the best. But it's WAY better then what followed. So 8....My fav latter day album. Mick
  8. .. those results made me laugh hard.....really based on it's rep here. Cannot WAIT to see what happens with CA down the road.....ya never know Mick
  9. Sing/The Police Dave Matthews Band Bruce Springsteen Bon Jovi Stevie Nicks solo Tom Petty/heartbreakers Madonna I'm sure there's more......can't think right now. Mick
  10. Well.... the Production The album length. The thing about me....is I hate long albums, from ANY artist. Say your piece and go. And they really could have trimmed a bit off this album. a lot of so-so stuff on here, IMO. This one is more shallow..but Ged's vocals. Normally I can understand lyrics even through the production. Here could not understand a word except some songs. He's sounding off...even on record.....but again that's just age, so no biggie. Mick
  11. Well you are in a small group. But I'm right with you. I was and am not blown away by this record. There are GREAT songs on their but....it's being sunk a bit by so-so material. Needs serious editing. Not only that I can hardly stand the production...it's a tired point, but it holds with me. it blows me away the reception CA is getting. Mick
  12. You are barking up the wrong tree with me....my cousins been trying for years.....i JUST can't Mick
  13. This was tough for me. Went with Presto.....Followed by CA 2112 I have to be in the mood for. Which for me is not often these days. But....it's Presto Mick
  14. I don't know if the OP was joking or not.......but making music a requirement....just no. My wife hates Tom Waits, yet i still think she's the most amazing woman i know. So i would never do that.....luckily she like Rush, but that's beside the point. Oh just saw he was more shocked then angry. Mick
  15. 6. It's been a 6 since release. It's got some great stuff. Wreckers, the title tracck, Anarchist, The Garden. But most is meh to ok to me. Nothing really special. 2 songs I never liked in Caravan snd BU2B. I was shocked to read this reception here. I'll be interested to see where opinions are in a year. 6 for me. Mick
  16. Power Windows by a TINY margin. I just love the melodies on POW. every song is a winner to me. It has one of my all time Fav tunes in Marathon. I love Signals too. It has some of Neil's best drumming. It also has one of my Fav tunes in Losing It. What tips the scales is Countdown on Signals.....awful song, IMHO. Both Wonderful records....but POW gets the nod from me. Mick
  17. QUOTE (liddybuck01 @ Jul 2 2012, 04:49 PM) QUOTE (Steevo @ Jul 2 2012, 04:35 PM) QUOTE (liddybuck01 @ Jul 3 2012, 09:33 AM)kind of unfair, since everyone is on a CA high right now. Not everyone is. right. i'm not. like, i'm enjoying it, but i'm not all "OMG ITS THE BEST EVRERRRRRRR!!1!!" it's good. not great. i dig about half of the tracks. definitely not better than VT, maybe about as equal as S&A. Nor I am.....good. Not the 2nd coming. Mick
  18. OK OK.....it's not ALL gone...but you CANNOT tell me CA is overly innovative, pretty by the numbers Just telling what I am hearing feel free to party on. Mick
  19. Uhhh the Wall. Great great stuff, buried in a self loathing muck. But I can't talk cause I preferred The final Cut Mick
  20. QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jul 3 2012, 11:55 AM) QUOTE (bluefox4000 @ Jul 2 2012, 10:18 PM) POW metal? HYF Metal? Presto Metal? Signals Metal? Really now? !Just sayin' Mick Pretty easy to list non-metal stuff. If you were arguing The Scorpions I'm sure you would have mentioned "Holiday". Now go listen to "Natural Science" and adjust that attitude mister! I was just pointing to the fact that to label Rush an all around metal band is.....kinda pushing it. Just my humble opinion. Mick
  21. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jul 3 2012, 07:54 PM) QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jul 3 2012, 04:37 PM) Rush has ALWAYS been a "been there, done that" kind of band Not anymore. They've "been there" for the last three albums. Pretty much this. At this point there's no creativity left in the tank.....no matter how much we want to believe it's there. Mick
  22. Still underwhelmed. but.....unlike most, I was Never ever expecting anything much. Not this late..... in their 20th damn album I mean that is a lot of information. I'm just happy to still have them active.....even if it produces ok to good albums. Mick
  23. POW metal? HYF Metal? Presto Metal? Signals Metal? Really now? !Just sayin' Mick
  24. D had The Garden.....So it won out Mick
