  12. QUOTE (av450 @ Aug 11 2012, 11:05 AM) QUOTE (bluefox4000 @ Aug 11 2012, 10:51 AM) Song Writing-6/10. They are some really REALLY good songs in here.....bogged down with a bunch of crap. Lyrics-7/10. Neil Throws his anti-Religion thing in...which is now typical and I don't mind. But here it's mixed with some great stuff. Love The garden, Headlong Flight. Not crazy about it musically, but Wish them well is great lyrically. Concept/story-5/10. Didn't really need it. Again.....it's heavy on belief/religion. Don't really care Neil....give me music. Artwork 8/10. Love it. Sets the tone nicely. Vocals- 5/10. I don't care what everybody says. Ged is showing his age. I wish he'd stop overlaying or double tracking his vocals. STOP!!!!! in spots it's painful. but hey...it's age. Guitar- 6/10. Not enough solos. Al does texturing and power chords. But they're are some really good solos here. Just....I need more. Actually it's better then it has been...I don't know. lol. Bass-8/10 Ged Rocks here....best he's been in a while. Drums 4/10. Can't really tell. He's too far back in the damn mix. Nick screwed you Neil. He recorded you....shitty. That's why i need to hear this stuff live. Musicianship 9/10. It's Rush. they always play great. Sound Quality-1/10. It...blows. Dump this nick guy. You are not the Foo Fighters. ya sound muddled and everything is tooooooo LOUD. When I get through with CA.....My ears are tired. It shouldn't feel like that. I Just am tired of this stuff. I'm begging you....please use someone else. I want to hear the music. not sift through a sonic mush.....sigh. Mick This Exactly. Are you a wizard? lol. Just call like i hear it. Mick

  14. Out of this list.....Floyd. I would have said Genesis. But i really don't enjoy Progressive Gabriel led Genesis. I know....shock. Even though the first few Collins led albums were semi-progressive. Mick
  15. Thomas Dolby Tom Waits QUEEN Radiohead Imogen Heap Mick
  16. CA. was not wild about it. Now i think it's one of the best tracks from them in a while. Mick
  17. GUP.....Too bad the content didn't measure up. Mick
  18. Exit is first.....followed by Time Machine. Exit has Ged in prime voice and the boys are firing on all Cylinders. Time machine has a better setlist....but, sorry, some of the vocals are Painful. Still enjoy it though. but it'll always be Exit for me Mick
  19. QUOTE (patjnev @ Aug 4 2012, 03:27 AM) I wish I could say I do like the last three studio cd's but I don't .Basically what I like in a Rush song has dissapeared . Looking back I guess It was kinda silly of me to expect a band that doesn't repeat itself to repeat itself. Isn't the definition of crazy something to effect of doing the same thing over again and expecting different results? I have been pondering my position since the release and still can't fiigure out why I hate the new Rush and everyone else loves them . Was I even a Rush fan to begin with? Maybe I liked Rush for reasons everyone else didn't. I became a fan in 83 or so right at the pinnacle of their popularity . I remember "Cool" kids in school wearing their concert jerseys. Tom Sawyer was the first Rush song I ever heard and I was a fan since. Being a fan of Synthesizers since I first seen Michael Iceberg in Disney as a kid ,I loved the way Rush used them to texture their sound. Not knowing who they were I was elated to see they had such a rich recording history. Then it happened. I heard Circumstances . With the synthesizer middle 8 and solo I was hooked. Then Signals came out and I loved playing allong to the record on my Poly61 and guitar. Rush just doesn't excite me anymore. I wish they did . But I have moved on . Like Geddy says " We have no control over losing fans at different stages of our career" Its been a wild ride and I will always love Rush . But I will be damned if I think this stuff is good . Its not . It's quite ok. I don't like new Rush anywhere near as I love other periods. I Like certain songs of course. If i'm being honest the last album to really hit me right off was Power Windows. New is not as innovative and at times Sounds Cookie-cutter. But that's what makes Rush fans great. We all like different albums, periods, and sounds Mick
