  1. Look - we all don't like to get burned. Dangling a bone like that is like doing the trick where you make your dog sit while placing the treat on his nose. However, that DOES NOT mean all rumors are false and all information lies. For now, I will be cautiously optimistic. If it doesn't materialize, I'll just what everyone else does and blame Obama. Lol. Personally, this would be awesome as I'm an hour outside the city. I've never even hoped to be able to be at a filmed concert so this would be the icing.
  2. I just rumor until verified. How about OP?
  3. L2k - I agree. My "first" exposure and tour was P/G. My first anticipated release was PoW. HYF and Presto we're my college years releases. I saw the current songs in the setlist back during those tours and never imagined they would do them again. Even though I knew what was coming, it was beyond words to actually see it live again.
  4. Dude, what the hell? Did you not see the part where I said I was 44? I've got more gray than black in my beard nowadays and I'm the the hair on head will soon follow. It was an observation, not a judgement. It surprised me - that's it. It surprised me to see kids as young as 9, 10, etc. Can you please point out where I said it was a bad thing? Yes, it surprised me to see what appeared to be a 70-something year old man walk down the aisle beside me. Never said it was bad. Lighten up. For the record, I believe in my heart of hearts that Rush being enjoyed by multiple generations is one of the most delightful notions I have ever had in my entire life. It's beyond wonderful. One of the highlights of the event happened well after the performance. It was in the parking garage. See, as my 17 year old and were getting into the car, we noticed a dad with his son getting to their car adjacent to us. The boy appeared about 8 or 9. They each had on identical Rush t-shirts; the boy's so big, it reached down past his knees. I looked at my son and he at me. Then we smiled at one another. Another bonding moment between a father and son; but this wasn't on a ball field or a school project or a wood pile or hay field. This bond was about music. Music that touches souls, young and old....
  5. Not having read all their bios, but I'm fairly certain the members of the string ensemble are quite respected musicians on their own right. I was wondering how the interaction was going to go between them and Ged & Al, but it was great. They certainly interact on occasion. I wouldnt be surprised if by next year, their not dragging obe of them to tbe middle of stage for some goofy stuff. YYZ with strings was so freakin awesome - the best version ever IMO. I said it in the OP but really want to stress it here - the strings make it so my h better than prerecorded sample. It's beyond better. SPOILER Pags - setlist A has The Body Electric for MD, Bravado for The Pass, Manhattan Project for Dreamline, and Seven Cities for Wish Them Well I am so happy they did WTW!!!! That was so rocking live!!!
  6. RushIslander - which row? Just Hopi g you weren't one the 2 guys I poked fun at! Lol.
  7. I've been a fan since I was 13. I'm 44. I've seen tours from P/G thru RTB - none since. I was "with" many of you on opening night, watching the setlist unfold and even playing the songs as it did. I've been excited about this day for several months, especially since I would be taking my 17 yr old to his first concert. My first pleasant surprise came when we got to our seats. Our seats were on the lower section, but since they were across the arena, I figured the guys would look like ants. Not so. Sweet. The start. I knew we were getting set B, which was fine. Our view was great. The sound wasn't as loud as I anticipated (no hearing plugs required). There was a hiccup during Big Money as I believe Neil's bass drum pedal broke! A tech frantically tried to fix it during the song. GED said it was the drum head, but it seem clear to me that tech was trying to get the pedal in place. I was hoping for an Alex joke, but the fix was made immediately after the song. Hmm, wonder if that will make the next book!? Lol. The rest of the first set was clean. Im a product of the "synth era" so 4 songs from PoW is just fine and dandy by me!! If there was any fault in the sound, I'd say it was not being able to hear Ged's high bass notes at all. Even the lower notes were lower in the mix then the guitars, drums, and keyboards. This was "fixed" for the 2nd set. The CA songs were fabulous!! Proplecwent nuts for both Anarchist & Carnies. I gotta say though - live - Wish Them Well was my favorite CA song. It had energy and pop and it flowed from beginning to end. Overall, I loved the strings!!! You can feel the difference between the live strings and triggered strings. Besides, they brought a rocking energy with their presence; grooving and swaying. They were awesome!! The arena becoming standing room only at the end with the classics. Most of the audience sat most if the time - BUT - I think that has more to do with the arena itself rather than anything with Rush. The seats are very compact. Even sitting, you were one good sneeze from elbowing the person next to you. Some observations; (1) I was amazed at how kids were there. I don't mean teenagers, folks. I mean kid-kids; 9, 10, etc. (2) grandpas. Not your user your usual I-had-kids-early-in-life old people. I mean, where's-my-cane old! (3) woman. The notion that chicks don't dig Rush is a myth in my book, my friends. They were everywhere. (4) confused by the 2 guys a section over who totally jammed out to CA but sat for YYZ, SOR, etc. I'll be baffled by them for awhile. My son pointed them out to me. (5) smartphones. I could see so many of them on in the floor section, I thought it was an added light sequence for the show. All in all, after not seeing them for over 20 years, I did not go away disappointed in the slightest. In fact, the experience will probably get better over time. Rush songs are great. Rush songs live are priceless. All I know is that sometimes - the moment can indeed meet the ecpectation of the dream....
  8. Is there a website for this somewhere?
  9. Emotion Detector is one of my favorite ballads. P/G was my first concert. PoW was my first album where the passion really took off.
  10. All for Middletown Dreams. Cant wait to hear it Saturday!!! This is my first show since RTB. I would have loved to have heard Bravado over The Pass. Oh well.
  11. Where are the suites located on the seating chart?
  12. Will be there Saturday as well. It was wrong. They played B last night. We get WTW, MD, DL, TP on Saturday.
  13. I think StubHub is fairly reliable. I know a lot of people who get tickets in my area (NYC) for sporting events and the like. I think you have to treat it like ebay - for the most part it's legit but I guess there can always be bad seeds. If you think about it, it is to StubHub's advantage to accredit their sellers otherwise their site because irrelevant.
  14. QUOTE (WavesandWindows @ Oct 7 2012, 01:12 AM) Pretty sure Jacob's Ladder on the Moving Pictures tour. Both Warm-Up and actual tour Nope - just PermWav
  15. "They just did it on the snakes and arrows tour and it was great. Don't think we will see it ever again though." From everything I read, they have not played Jacobs Ladder since the PwrmWaves Tour....
  16. QUOTE (Motorshooter @ Oct 3 2012, 06:37 AM) QUOTE (OGr8imL84AD8inF8sBlackSedan @ Oct 3 2012, 05:03 AM) I can't believe people are still creating threads about this. I can't believe I'm still burning toast And still eating the toast.....
  17. losingit2k - thought I'd beat you to it!! Lol! What was I thinking?
  18. I dont know for sure but can only speculate - (a) they know someone at the arena or main ticket company either personally or professionally, they purchase the VIPs and just sell the tickets Keep in mind, they may not be a real ticket agency but like to play one on eBay. I always wondered about this. For HYF, Presto, and RTB tours, I sat out all night on a real line in Ohio. Twice at a ticket agency and once at the old Richfield Coloseium. All night and Presto was in November - froze my butt off. Anyway, my seats were better than average but as good as I thought they be for having sat out all night for them. So yeah, I always wo feted how people got the best seats.
  19. I love the irony. At the same time the people who like the setlist are being told not to be down on the haters - the haters are trying to convince them that they are not real fans for liking the setlist. At the end of the day, does or should it really matter to you what the another's opinion is? Rush has always been about the individual, not the masses, not what your classmate thinks or your co-worker, not your friends or even your spouse thinks is good music. Who cares what rayrush thinks? Here's a thought - if no one responds to his rants, his rants are meaningless, void. Let him have his say and then simply - wish him well......
  20. Been following TRF for awhile now. Good stuff. First mini-break is less than 2 weeks away (sept. 30). There's a 10 day break period before the toukite summed on Oct. 10. Just wondering if anyone thinks there might be any setlist changes made other than what we have seen so far. I'm going to the 10-20 show in NJ. I haven't seen anyone's thoughts on this yet. Thanks in advance!
  21. I have sec. 1, row 16 seats for 10/20 in NJ. I keep reading how people are upgrading their tickets and would like to know how people are doing this so I can explore the possibility. I'm taking my 17 year old to his first concert and my current seats are across the arena from the stage. If I can get closer, I'd like to look into it. How do you upgrade? How much does it cost? Thanks in advance.
  22. Why is it so strange to people that WTW is well received? It's not a rocker of a rocker but it has a cool vibe and steady beat to it. The parts of the songs interchange very fluidly. Now that I think about it - it's much like many of the songs from the 80's that they are playing. No sudden blues segment or piano piece. No build up or interchanging between slow and faster paces. So yea, it doesn't surprise me that WTW and a similar song like SCOG are welled received by a live audience.
  23. QUOTE (FT Tracker @ Sep 14 2012, 04:16 PM) they do not cross eras Le me rephrase that - lol - they do not cross the era (singular) Couldn't resist.
  24. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 12 2012, 10:22 PM) QUOTE (Alchemical @ Sep 12 2012, 10:18 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 12 2012, 10:16 PM) QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Sep 12 2012, 09:44 PM) My point is I don't think Rush wants to continue that way...having to play 80's songs and soft stuff because it's easier. Maybe I'm wrong...you just never know. I want to soak up every second of the concert because I definitely feel like we won't get much more of this 80's songs and soft stuff? Come on. Now that we have Clockwork Angels, you can create a great setlist on their post Roll the Bones stuff alone . Set 1: Far Cry Caravan BU2B Cut to the Chase Working Them Angels Vapor Trails Way the Wind Blows Where's My Thing? Test For Echo Stick it Out Driven (With Bass Solo) Clockwork Angels Set 2: Animate Cold Fire Spindrift The Anarchist Carnies Main Monkey Business Seven Cities of Gold Secret Touch Mal-Nar/ Drum Solo Alex's Solo/ Halo Effect The Wreckers Double Agent Headlong Flight Encore: One Little Victory EarthShine The Garden How many fantasy setlists have you drafted in the past year? I don't know? They don't call me the Setlist Swami for nothing. Wait - you left out Losing It, losingit2k! Lol. JK.
  25. Oh boy, geminirising sounds like he is going to save us from ourselves. I'm so glad he is so smart and wise that I know realize the error of my ways for actually liking the setlist. Yea - I have found truth!!
