  1. gStrings - a tuning app SoundHound - helpful at letting me know what song is playing
  2. Wow, from the first two pictures, I thought it was pretty small...then the third picture...that's bigger than I thought That last picture really is the sh1t ;) Same here I thought it was gerbil sized, then... oh... Surprisingly cute, though. Wombat. Interesting. :ebert: Edit: stupid phone...
  3. Ostriches sure are funny looking. But, aw, all the little baby ostriches I love the first photo and the one with the babies. Awww...so cute!
  4. A lot of bands are products of their time. Kansas was cool in the 70's but kind of went MOR as the 80's came in. That's one thing that makes Rush the phenomenon that they are. For the most part, they were able to transcend each decades musical faux-pas and move on. I agree. I love 70s Kansas, but once Steve Walsh left, they went total 80s pop (similar to what Heart, Starship and Chicago did with their sound after personnel changes). All of them are monster musicians though. Edit: stupid phone...
  5. I call it a flash or zip drive. I like jump drive. Very Battlestar. :D
  6. "Nevermore" Too funny... :ebert: I wonder if its named Lenore, or if it sits above a chamber door
  7. Blue Jays win 8 in a row? Whaaa??? Yes, it is early (though we're about 1/3 of the season done) Yes, they had an 11-game winning streak last year (and fell apart rapidly after that) Yes, there is still plenty of time to fall apart (please don't) Still, I'm happy about this streak and they are performing really well. I'll take it while I can get it. :yay: Go Blue Jays! :cheerleader:
  8. I'm not certain of that. I can't recall a PC lover who has changed to love Mac OS, but I do know people who've changed religions. I can definitively state that people who fell or fall in love with z/OS (or it's predecessors, or z/VM - the true master OS) do not typically find the PC, UNIX/LINUX flavours or Mac palatable. PC/mid-range constructs are quite quaint by comparison. The finest PC operating system was the now defunct (and extremely poorly marketed by IBM) OS/2. Really? That's the exact opposite of how it is around me. And my point wasn't how easily people would be converted, yet how easily the converter will bring up his / her belief. I get considerably more friends convincing me to switch to Mac than Jehovah's Witnesses at my door. It is probably the crowd I spend time with...mostly, IT types. Except for graphic artists, everyone I know is PC/Unix/Linux flavoured and couldn't be made to change (and the artists want nothing to do with a PC either). To your point, both PC and Mac users tend to be quite dogmatic in their OS view and love to bring up the strengths of their OS as a compelling reason to change. The dogma pushes back the other way, too, as to why they can't change. Of course, the truth is to use which ever tool accomplishes the job and beyond that it is personal preference. Each OS has its place and each has its strength. :)
  9. Except Neil. What a rebel! :D
  10. Interesting. It makes me want to sing Men At Work. Traveling in a fried out comby On a heavy trail, head full of zombies I met a strange lady, she me nervous She took me in and gave me breakfast
  11. It's Memorial Day. Relax. Nice to see you back CG. As Rick Pitino would say, "Bobby V isn't walking through that door". I think you used up all your luck last year. I think the Sox must have borrowed the Cubs' too. Could be. Enjoy four months of meaningless baseball. It's OK. I went to a World Series victory parade 7 or 8 months ago. I went to one 6 years before that. And one three years before that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsCyC1dZiN8&feature=kp "What have you done for me lately" theory.
  12. Good link, USB. Thanks. Not surprising at all. Best rates and service to those who have the most money.
  13. So, I got bored with Skyrim...again (run around and stab something, run over here and stab something else, stab it with a sword, stab it with flame, stab it quietly, etc...). I like Europa Universalis 4, but I miss the personal character side of the game (Henry VII of England...but who's he married to? How are his children?) Crusader Kings II is a much more a game with a personal story of a family, so I'm back playing that again. Since the 2.1 patch, old saves are not compatible with the new code (there is a Steam utility to allow old saves to run) so I'm rebuilding my CK2 worlds post 2.1. I bought the CK2 to EU4 converter so I can carry my nations forward to the next game. A grand game is in the works (well a few grand games, actually) to span 1000 years history with an 867 ToG start and ending in EU4. I have three going now. Ua Niall has become King of Ireland (!) and now has an eye on England, Scotland and Wales and continental Europe; Alfred of Dorset is attempting to kill his worthless brother, eject the Viking hordes from Wessex and unite England under his banner; and in the Byzantine east, The Basileus from the House of Makedon is starting the quest to mend the Great Schism and restore the Roman Empire to it's rightful place of glory. Ahh, good times... :D

  15. It's Memorial Day. Relax. Nice to see you back CG. Hey Rick :) :hi: Yes, it's good to be back. Had a bit of a rough stretch, but things are looking up. :) It is early. Still, nice to see a some life in May. It's hard to live in RedSox nation as a Blue Jays fan... :sigh:
  16. When I said 10 game losing streak, I didn't think it'd be the RedSox... Wheels falling off wagon? :yay: :P Go Blue Jays! :cheerleader:
  17. 1.5 game lead over Baltimore. Keep the winning streak going, boys! :Alex: :Neil: :geddy: 8-2 in their last 10 :D :ebert:
  18. The fear is certainly falling...and the sudden stop. I'm fine in a plane or on a rollercoaster, but standing and looking at anything above 3 feet scares the crap out of me. Outdoor Christmas lights is always a challenge. Never look down.
  19. And the smaller, the more dangerous. I almost stepped bare foot onto a small one on a living room floor one evening, also in Arizona. A pretty dangerous place, in hindsight. To New England! Where fewer creatures want to poison me!
  20. That could never be me. Eeeek! Nerves far stronger than mine.
  21. :ebert: Absolutely wonderful! You are very talented. :)
  22. The Ministry of Guidance Invites You to Not Stay: An American Family in Iran by Hooman Majd. An interesting account of life in Iran. It has changed some of my perceptions of Iran. Next up: Kindred by Octavia E. Butler.
  23. At Fenway last night (a beautiful night) and the Blue Jays won! :dweez: RedSox lose 6 in a row! Buckholz looked terrible (4 runs on 9 hits in 4 and 2/3...ouch). The Blue Jays actually looked pretty good which is a welcome sight. :yay:
  24. Big tobacco starting off attacking the e-cigs and still try and make laws against them as they get into the market fully. That should be enough of a reason to support ecigs. A good point. Do you believe that big tobacco has a hand in e-cig? I'm asking out of genuine curiosity. I don't know the answer. I would think that RJR or PM would at least be testing the waters and thinking about how to make money in a new market segment (that market being people who like to inhale things). To your point, lawsuits against independent e-cig manufacturers slow them down while the giants come up to speed. Just my skeptical nature, I suppose...
  25. Happy Anni, Lyndsey! :) :yay:
