  1. The family tree filled in a few holes that I didn't know about. I also like the depiction of the master tape cover and the historical record that it shows with all of the catalog numbers and dates and such. Haven't listened to it yet, but I can't help but continue to feel this was a missed opportunity. Missed opportunity? How so? I haven't bought this yet. On a completely unrelated note, I did get ABC 1974 and The Garden picture disc album. It's so pretty! :)
  2. My cat's breath smells like cat food.
  3. LOOK HOW LOUD I HAVE TO YELL!
  4. This sort of thing happens to me way too frequently with GnR's "Sweet Child of Mine." o_O I avoid that song like the plague, but got-d*mn do I wake up with that crappy tune way too often. It makes me want to commit a bit of the ol' ultraviolence upon my own skull. (Now cranking up Deep Purple's "In Rock" to ensure it doesn't get stuck now.) I liked your post because you have good taste in music. That's too freaky...I've had Heaven and Hell in my head too...I cranked it at work today because I couldn't get it out of my head and that just made it louder when it wasn't playing. :haz:
  5. I was at that show. One of my greatest memories of that night (aside from 2112 and Geddy's bass solo in Driven) was the sunset. I remember watching it when Resist was playing (the only tour I've seen it performed as a three piece) and it was magical. That was the first time I'd seen Rush twice on one tour since finances finally allowed for such an indulgence. George, WA and two days later Boise, ID. Great memories.
  6. It's true, it doesn't work well live at all. I do like the studio track though. It's quite quirky and I use the "where would you rather be" call with the "anywhere, anywhere but here" response when I find myself in an uncomfortable situation.
  7. Isn't that kind of oversharing? ;) I thought it was quite generous. ASCII and Unicode get all of the glory but EBCDIC is where the rubber meets the road. Wait, EBCDIC...rubber...this is going in the wrong direction... ;)
  8. oooo....ASCII... (although I'm partial to EBCDIC) It's true. Decimal 73 (73) = hexadecimal 49 (x'49') = binary 1001001 (b'01001001'). ((16 x 4) + 9) = 73. In the ASCII code chart x'49' = capital I. In EBCDIC, capital I is the glamourous x'C9'. I have been known to refer to 73 as x'49' /geek mode
  9. I've listened to Lorraine and used the pigeon. Spacious. The gerbil was upset that she didn't get her $50 and has refused to work with me again. The pigeon will work for scratch and I think I'm less likely to get scuppered, although I have no idea what that means. Thank goodness you made it out of the Thistle Dew intact and I hope Lorraine survived her jog to Neverland. This Larry Flynt guy is pretty nice. He has cameras everywhere. For the past few hours I've been watching a black and white feed from a small cafe. I have to say the host is very hospitable and the girl he keeps talking with is so beautiful - I wonder if she dances? - but she seems pretty upset. Maybe it is all of the Nazis running around. The piano player is very good too. But everytime he plays this one song, the host gets really mad and tells him to stop. It must be hard to run an American cafe in a foreign land when it is filled with Nazis and the girl you love shows up with a mysterious fellow that she claims is her husband and then has to act like that crazy weekend in Paris was ... oh, wait...this isn't closed circuit TV?...uh, oh... More details arise regarding the VIKINGS plans. Goober keeps them in NORWAY (Neverland Owned Repository of Wee Actor Youths). The VIKINGS will be coming from NORWAY on their BOATS (Bicycles Only Available To Small people). As near as I can tell, the plan is to LOOT (Leave Observers Openly Talking) and to PILLAGE (Play Increasingly Loud and Long Anthems against Gnome Etiquette) the villages around the courthouse. They would also like to see a football game in Minnesota. I'm still unsure about how this will impact the SCOG Dancers and the BRAWLRs. Goober is a clever leader. I saw a very strange address on Sunday by the Pope in Rome. Apparently, I can be captain and he will draw the charts as we sail into destiny. Truly, the most inspirational message that I have heard from the Holy See. The YIKES training was invaluable, but it would all be for naught had I not received the early start provided by the International Anne Murray Acclaimed School for Needed Outdoor Wiles and Building Ice Reinforced Domes (IAMASNOWBIRD).
  10. I'm far more taken with the strings and the old material than I though that I'd be. I can not stop listening to Dreamline. The strings are incredible! At 4:38 there is an ascending run up to the main riff that gives me chills. There's also a nice decent around 4:19, but it is farther back in the mix. I wish the strings on Manhattan Project were more forward in the mix. The Clockwork Angels String Ensemble makes this album a true gem. Rush has transcended the music with these performances and this album rivals ATWAS as my favourite live Rush album. First, CA displaces MP as my favourite studio album and now the live version is threatening ATWAS. I did not see that coming.
  11. Don't sell yourself short, Lorraine. You write very well. Fantastic job, ThatLightInYourEyes! http://www.thescifiworld.net/img/smilies/galactica/cylon/cylon_newanime006.gif And, that is the worst photoshop I've ever seen.
  12. Penance! I must pay penance for my truancy! :madra:
  13. I am writing this letter on a gerbil and smuggling it out of Larry Flynt's safe house with the hope that it finds you in time. I told the gerbil that you'd give her $50. Please see she is well compensated. I have been watching the events in the motel room on closed-circuit TV - I have been provided with a monitor to view the Emperor's conquest of the pathetic rebel band attacking the second Death Star and...oops, wrong channel...the Thistle Dew motel. The Thistle Dew is a trap! Get out while you can! The pez dispenser, the Milk Duds, the little finger bells, the bar of soap in the dish in the bathroom; they are all ruses to entice you into complacency and distract you from Rushgoober's true goal! I have it on good authority that Rushgoober and his legion of VIKINGS (Vapor trails Immensely Knowledgable and Irritatingly Nice Gnome Squad) have been secretly planning a clever takeover of the small persons acting industry. The VIKINGS are to replace the BRAWLRs! In a terrible tactical blunder, Rushgoober wrote his plans on a cocktail napkin in the form of a torch song which were then mistakenly used as lyrics on the latest Taylor Swift song. Attentive listeners will not be able to distinguish it from any other Taylor Swift song. The motivation to displace the BRAWLRs with the VIKINGS is murky and surely Rushgoober will fail. As I am blessed with a sophisticated palate for wee person acting, I can definitively say that the quality of the VIKINGS does not approach the sheer perfection that we all associate with the BRAWLRs. Rushgoober's plan is to destroy both the SCOG Dancers and the BRAWLRs at the trial and replace them with the hegemony of the VIKINGS. He must be stopped. For the record, the issue that the SCOG Dancers had with the BRAWLRs looking up our skirts was that they were breathing on our kneecaps. Very annoying. I have to go as I've run out of gerbil to write on... RR
  14. Great link, Lyndsey! And a great website name too. IFL Science :o I always hoped space sounded like this: http://youtu.be/WDN4ZBTU7MQ

  18. Me too! It was the first Rush album I bought on the day of release. I was disappointed in the album when I first heard it (too synthy), but I loved Digital Man - Alex just melts during the solo :haz: Over time, the album has increased it's standing.
  19. It isn’t often that Star Wars, Star Trek, Warhammer, or Battlespace Galactica ... Battlespace? A very cool chart though. Thanks for sharing, H.P.L. :)
  20. I thought that it sounded great - one of their best live recordings. I'm really looking forward to the CD and seeing the movie on Monday. :haz: Now I want to see them again. Holy cow the CA material is strong! :o
  21. I heard that Spaceman is a radio personality in the Boston area....still speaking in his wonderful, unfiltered way. Does he have a moment in time that is considered signature, classic Spaceman? He's not a regular radio personality that I'm aware of, although he does pop up in the media from time to time. When I think about Lee, I think of his "Leephus" pitch, and the fight at Yankee stadium in 1976. He calls in to Loren and Wally on ROR at 7:45am Mondays during baseball season. He is a mad man and he's funny as hell. He also sounds like a pretty nice guy and he loves teaching people about baseball.
  22. :hi: Rick! Happy Birthday, my friend! :yay: :cheerleader: I hope you're staying warm (chilly lately) and that you have a wonderful day! :rush:
  23. Happy Anni, Tick! :cheerleader: :yay: :bacon: 8 years a lurker and still going strong! :madra:
  24. Happy Birthday, ThatLightInYourEyes! I hope that you have a wonderful day! :cheerleader: :yay:  :rush:
