  1. I feel threatened by this thread
  2. That's where I found it. My bait thread worked though: http://i.imgur.com/bJaNlKt.jpg
  3. I remember receiving a lot of flack for voting against this album once so I'll post some reasons as to why I did: 1. The music, while no doubt technically accomplished on all fronts (especially Neil Peart's drumming) feels sterile, formulaic, and with few compositional risks taken (and when they ARE taken, they're inevitably embarrassing). It almost feels like a combination of the worst possibilities of '70s arena rock (cheesily anthemic choruses, overwrought hooks, boring songwriting) and '70s prog rock (self-indulgent chops, overextended song lengths, goofy pseudointellectual lyrics). Rush tries to appeal to a middle ground between experimentation and accessibility; nothing wrong with that, but their music fails at both. 2. Neal Peart's lyrics are often embarrassingly overwrought and pretentious, often reading like they were written by an acne-afflicted teen whose access to literature is limited to a copy of Atlas Shrugged and a handful of bad fantasy/sci-fi novels. 3. The synths, when applied, almost always end up sounding dated and artificial. While not as bad as, say, Yes or ELP, they're annoying enough to be noticeable, especially on their '80s work.
  4. With no release in the US for another week, we may have to wait a lil while
  5. Now I want to see this film reshot with Neil
  6. I'm watching it right now. This is giving me serious anxiety
  7. As it should be (hides from x1yyz)... I won't argue with it. Though I enjoy it, I can see why others dislike it and won't fight them. To be frank I now have it on vinyl and have listened to it a couple of times. Its not nearly as bad as I have previously ranted about the past year or so. Not sure what the difference is on vinyl but I don't hear the sh*tty annoying sound I have heard before and don't need any Excedrin at all.... Go figure I still rank about 10+ albums before it, but given Rush's huge volume of good music over bad music, it really isn't a bad place to rank it. What's more surprising is the debut getting shit on. Test For Echo and Roll The Bones don't have anything near as good as Working Man

  9. Really? I'd consider "Dog Years...for every sad son of a bitch" to be worse.
  10. I choose Test For Echo, but I'm sure there are just enough people here that like that one to keep it around another round or two. Vapor Trails, one of my favorites may be f***ed though
  11. This is coming out next month and I'm excited for it. It's a collaboration between The Gathering's former singer, Anneke Van Giersbergen and Ayreon's mastermind, Arjen Anthony Lucassen. They wrote about 11 songs and have two versions of each. A folk version and a metal version Storm version: Gentle version:
  12. My pre-order just shipped...
  13. Pre-ordered this last night. Curse my expensive impulse buying The Gentle Storm - The Diary
  14. The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, the Grateful Dead, Marillion, Neil Young, Chilliwack, and Devin Townsend, are bands that haven't covered Tom Sawyer Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa... Hold on.... There's a Rush song Dream Theater hasn't covered? ;) From the quick google search, Dream Theater didn't cover Tom Sawyer And IT SHALL REMAIN THAT WAY. On a serious note, I never heard of Imagine Dragons until a few weeks ago when they kept popping onto my YouTube ads. Are these guys like the current big thing in "mainstream" rock at the moment? Yes, I find them rather unimpressive.
  15. So I heard the Aristocrats are recording their third album.... 2/3 of them are Steven Wilson's band
  16. It may be another 2 weeks till I get my copy. I'm going to have to work hard not to spoil myself too much :D

  18. Nor do I. Vinyl will be arriving soon so I can take a quick peek.
  19. I've gotta give them a lotta credit considering how close to the release they kept it. Usually their albums leaked a month before, but this is only less than a week
  20. You guys are done so soon?
  21. From what I've heard so far: http://i.4cdn.org/mu/1424550376002.jpg
  22. I'll watch it tonight and let you know
  23. Just listing some I haven't seen yet Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) Paul McCartney - Ram George Harrison - Brainwashed Ace Frehley - Ace Frehley Peter Gabriel - Car
  24. Season Five is going to be filmed this spring and will be released in two parts... one in the summer of 2015, then one in the summer of 2016. Then that will be it for Hell on Wheels. AMC really likes dividing its shows. It worked with Breaking Bad, it will likely work with Hell on Wheels, but Mad Men just makes me stop caring
