  1. I've never been to Consol, but I've seen a bunch of Pirates games in downtown Pittsburgh.........good luck getting out of the city.
  2. I really like this band. I didn't know The Tangent was a side project of Flower Kings, I've heard one Tangent song and I thought it was amazing.
  3. I don't give a damn about their bad reputation.
  4. Shinedown (I was just starting to listen to music, give me a break) Pink Floyd Rush I have recently been obsessing over other artists as I dig deeper into their catalogues (King Crimson, Yes, Dream Theater, and currently Frank Zappa/Mothers), but Rush will always be my one true love.
  5. Nevermind. I'm selling them on StubHub, I guess. Thanks to all who even took the time to read my post.
  6. Is anybody willing to trade tickets with me, I have two tickets to the Columbus show on Sept.20 (Floor, 24 rows from the stage on Geddy's side) and am looking for 2 tickets to the Cleveland concert on Oct.28. Something just came up and Cleveland would be much more convenient for me. I am not asking for any money, just a straight-up trade of tickets. I am looking for Floor3 or section 109 at the Q. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Floor1(Geddy's side), Row X, seats 1&2
  7. QUOTE (DistantEarlyRushFan @ Aug 26 2012, 02:57 PM) Also, this, Geddy Lee featuring Zakk Wylde "Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary " great show. I was born in 1995, so Test For Echo is my birthday album. I'll go with Half The World. It sure is hard to pick a favorite song from that album. My parents think I'm weird for liking Rush, but they don't hate the band.
  8. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Aug 25 2012, 08:50 PM) I can't even remember +1
  9. I hadn't heard of this band until I read this thread just now, I think I need to buy both albums...
  10. I only have 5 King Crimson albums (debut, In the Wake of Poseidon, Starless and Bible Black, Larks' Tongues in Aspic, and Discipline). Out of these, my favorites are Larks' Tongues (which got my vote) and Discipline. In the Court of the Crimson King is by far my least favorite of the five, although I like it a lot. They are definitely one of my favorite bands.
  11. QUOTE (sb2112 @ Aug 21 2012, 02:25 PM) I'm going to the Pittsburgh show, so it's exactly three weeks from today! First time I will not look at the setlist ahead of time. same here
  12. I don't hang out with 'the geeks' in my high school, but I would fit right in with them... When I get into something, I REALLY get into it and become totally obsessed (Monty Python, Rush, The Twilight Zone, Bill Hicks, etc.)... I don't play D&D or watch Star Trek or read comic books or study math/science outside of school... I have an attractive significant other, but I call her my 'significant other' (I am NOT good with girls, I just got extremely lucky)... I have absolutely NO interest in cars, girls, parties, drugs (but I have friends who are)... I'm not computer savvy... I make references to things that people don't understand... When I text, I don't abbreviate anything... I almost exclusively listen to prog and jazz/fusion, which is very uncommon/geeky amongst highschoolers... I enjoy music theory, not just 'cool tunes' like everyone else my age... 6 or 7, I'll go with 6 because I would never go out of my way to attend a Sci-Fi convention.
  13. QUOTE (OGr8imL84AD8inF8sBlackSedan @ Aug 21 2012, 03:01 PM) My stereo only goes to 10!!!! Nigel's goes to 11.
  14. It is very rare for me to go a day without listening to them.
  15. A couple years ago I listened to a lot of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and other famous rock and metal music. During this time I heard Rush (Tom Sayer and Limelight) and thought they were just another pretty good classic rock band, but I didn't have any of their albums. I went to my local Best Buy and picked up the two albums they had (2112 and Moving Pictures). I listened to those two albums and got hooked. I couldn't stop listening to them over and over. I had no idea music like this existed; it was rock, but it was incredible. I thought it was far superior to the other music I was listening to at the time. Then I started picking up all their albums one at a time in no particular order and on any format I could get my hands on. Then from Pink Floyd and Rush, I discovered progressive rock and haven't looked back. Now I almost never listen to Zeppelin, Sabbath, and those guys. I love Rush.
  16. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Aug 13 2012, 06:33 PM) Nice! A couple of months ago I found I bunch of Yes, ELP, Tull (including TAAB with newspaper in great condition), Weather Report, Return To Forever, and Renaissance albums at a flea market. They were all in perfect condition and were around $1 each. Tales and Works were the only Yes/ELP albums I was missing, so I was excited. They also had Weather Report's "Heavy Weather", but I already have the cd and vinyl (I've become a huge Jaco fan ever since I started to play bass). I'm also jealous of your TAAB, haha mine doesn't have the newspaper. And I've been looking all over for Return to Forever recently and can't find their music anywhere other than the internet. ps. I really like your taste in music
  17. Yesterday I decided to go to a nearby flea market. I think I need to start going more often, because I scored the following for a grand total of $12: Power Windows cassette The Wall cassette Genesis - A Trick of the Tail cd VINYL ELP - Works vol.2 Mike Oldfield- Tubular Bells Mike Oldfield - Hergest Ridge Rick Wakeman - The Six Wives of Henry VIII Rush - Archives U.K. - U.K. Al di Meola - Elegant Gypsy Genesis - Wind & Wuthering Yes - Tales from Topographic Oceans George Carlin - Occupation: Foole Has anyone else here hit the jackpot recently?
  18. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Aug 11 2012, 12:39 PM) QUOTE (Nate2112 @ Aug 11 2012, 10:50 AM) I've never bothered to check out ELP Most people here would tell you not to bother, but check out Tarkus and the self-titled debut. A lot of people here seem to dislike them, but I really like them. They are about as prog as it gets. Listen to Karn Evil 9 and Tarkus.
  19. Buy both and give me one I thank you in advance.
  20. Emerson, Lake & Palmer Genesis Jethro Tull King Crimson Pink Floyd Yes very hard to decide... *FOR ME* definitely not Pink Floyd or Genesis. Floyd lacks the crazy musicianship and Genesis got real poppy real fast. Ian Anderson didn't even like the label 'progressive rock' and Greg Lake claims that ELP isn't prog (I disagree with him). I enjoy Yes more than Crimson, but I like Crimson more than Yes (if that makes sense). That being said, I went with Emerson, Lake & Palmer (but I really voted King Crimson) F I can't decide
