  1. :codger: I say we throw our support behind men without hats now! Whose with me?! :madra:
  2. I don't care if Gabrial or Hackett or Chester Thomson or Strummer(?) are out there on stage. Just as long as the guy who did "Calling All Stations" isn't on stage
  3. Summer of '69 is a great song, and I assume more people going to the site know of that song than know of Rush at all, nonetheless TSOR. Well Guess I'm gonna vote Men withou Hats!
  4. Hey there Hobo23, Any time I need a little musical refreshment, I throw on some yacht rock. http://www.helloloser.com/2013/08/05/top-100-yacht-rock-songs-91-100/
  5. 1) RUSH 2) Genesis (Both Peter and Phill eras...Pill slightly more) 3) Pink Floyd 4) Queen 5) Styx, Donnie Iris, ELP, Jethro Tull, Kansas, GWAR, YES (Really hard to decide between these juggernaughts of rock)
  6. I always thought it was an indian head. I never had the actual album cover, just the CD booklet. And only glanced at it and assumed it was an indian head. Wasn't until last year that I saw an image on this very site, that I realized it was guy standing there. The indian head makes much more 'cents' ;) to me than that dude
  7. The Body Electric. The drums and bass are just awesome in the begining, but the part I love is when the song is in full force, and theres like this big volume of music that hits ya. I just love that. Same thing with The Main monkey Business and headlong flight Figured I'd also add my least favorite sound in the entire Rush Catalog is the high pitched "squealing synth noise" during The Garden solo. I hear it every time, it drives me nuts. Such a beautiful guitar solo ruined by some stupid squealling noise. At first I thought it was my speakers were broken, but alas its the rcording.
  8. For me it's a question on how the album is wrapped up in the end, not just how awesome the last song is. More like a climax at the end of an awesome adventure. So here's my favorites: Kansas - The Pinnacle - Masque (This is my absolute favorite epic) Pink Floyd - Brain Damage/Eclipse - Dark side of the moon Genesis - Supper's Ready (Apocalypse in 9/8 and As sure as an egg) - Foxtrot Rush - The Garden - Clockwork Angels Rush - Between the Wheels - p/g Genesis - The Duke's Travels - The Duke There's plenty more that have already been stated
  9. If you join and post to therushforum.com...then you might be a hardcore fan
  10. It's not all die hards going to the shows, it simply is not logical to NOT play those tunes you named right there Like I told my husband (who's seen Rush countless times before)- this was my very first Rush show ever. Yeah, i hear Tom Sawyer as much as everyone else. But it wouldn't be a Rush concert WITHOUT it. And TSOR kicked so much ass live it blew me away lol If the song kicks ass live, I don't care how many times they play it. :)
  11. I agree. It's kind of a shame for all of us mega-fans that they have to play "the hits" all the time but there are just too few of us to fill every arena in a tour. It's more than likely that a good chunk of the audience at a show has seen Rush at least once, but the majority have not and that's why you get "lame crowds who just stand around while we go crazy for every song". They gotta play the hits for the unfamiliar who shelled out their hard earned cash for the show just like us...who don't want to ALWAYS hear the hits. I've never seen The Rolling Stones live but if I did, I wanna hear the hits. I wouldn't care how much Mick and Keith wanted to puke 'cuz they've played Satisfaction, Brown Sugar, and Sympathy For The Devil a million times. That's what I'm paying to see...so play it. The same goes for a Rush show. I guess it's just the curse of being long time fans. We got to see Cut To The Chase, Driven, Jacobs Ladder and the dozens of other deep cuts we'd like to see now on past tours. Oh... for all you young whipper snappers out there who didn't get to see them on previous tours...HAHA...Being old does have at least one advantage. I've seen the last 2 tours, and loved every song. Wish I could have seen some of those past shows. Especially to hear the whole Cygnus-X1 and Hemispheres in its entirty. How's come they can't release a live album from back then with those songs on it. Come on man!
  12. Black Ice - ACDC - some great tunes on that one like "Rock in Roll Train", "War Machine", "Big Jack" and "Anything goes"
  13. I found the best way to listen to these masterpeices is to start off listening to Countdown and then Cygnus x-1 and Hemispheres. When I here those three songs together, its like a trip man! Countdown builds up the tension and drama and excitment of a rockect launch. Then Cygnus X-1 just seemlessly picks up were countdown left off. The ship starts off its journy accross the milky way. Then Hemishpere takes this simple space story and transforms it into a might science-fiction epic. Complete with though provoking philosphy, battles, and gods and etc. I read a thread a while back where someone mentioned that when they heard the "I have no memory or form" part of Hemispheres, that they though it was the acutal blcak hole. I say it paints an awesome picture and changes the story a lot when you envision the black hole. Great songs all around
  14. I love that bee wearing a crown. Now that's comedy there :7up:
  15. Grace Under Pressure. He seems to be able to convey the stress and hysteria that seems to be the central theme of that album. Like Part 1 of the Fear Series and Red sector A
  16. I'd say Power Windows is Geddy at his best bass and keyboards. Also his vocals are incredible on this album as well. Permanent Waves is Alex's best showing. His guitarwork is just amaizng all the way through Moving Pictures I guess is Niel's Best stuff, though I think Colckwork Angles has me playing lots of air drums!
  17. Also this was pretty funny. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/neil-peart-tom-hanks-celeb-look-alikes/
  18. Favorite Heavy Metal Albums. GWAR - Live from Mt. Fuji GWAR - Scumdogs of the Universe GWAR - War Party Metalica - Black Album Slipknowt - subliminal verses part 3
  19. Great video. I remember when I was at an indoor track meet at Robert Morris University. My parents came to watch me throw the shot, and they told me the bad news.
  20. I can't really rank them but here they are: Permanent Waves Hemispheres Power Windows Moving Pictures Clockwerk Angels. Though before CA came out Carress of Steel would have been in there
