Not changing mine either... "Go to work at 9" from the RUSH song " Working man" is one of my all time favorite Rush lyric's and song's. It's also one of the 1st song's I heard from RUSH, back in 1974.
  3. Well Janie let's see..I voted for the top 3 of your choices: 1) Astronaut/alien 2) Mad scientist/monster 3) Referee/football player Pretty cool thread! Halloween's always fun.. especially for the young kids!! Who doesn't like candy?!??!? Hope your kids have a great time and get a TON of candy !!!! ..Just make sure they brush their teeth 3 times a day!
  4. RIP---The truly gifted, die way too soon..even at 71.
  5. I got a 6 month plan, at about $170.00, if I recall correctly. It's not cheap, but it's not an arm and a leg either. I think you get your money's worth on it.Finding out who your ancestor's were, and their lives, and where they lived is worth it.... As for anyone who does not like the sight or the subject matter..nobody's forcing you to look at this thread. Leave us Ancestry.com nerd's alone!! let us all search in peace!!

You end up with a bunch of random names that mean nothing at all. EXCUSE ME!!? No, family names are very important, especially when there is a tradition involved. Family, and family names (for those individuals who passed long before you were born) is very important. For me, I feel a sense of belonging, tradition, honor, pride.... I thoroughly enjoy perusing the names in my family tree and often find myself wanting to travel to the many European cities they once called home to see the things they saw and walk the ground they once walked. No not to me, they're just names that mean nothing. They may not mean anything to you, treeduck, but they mean a lot to others. And, to be honest, this thread is for those who like researching their family histories. It's not for debating its value..... Well you've quoted me out of context, where I was merely giving my personal opinion. And who says the thread is for this or that? Better quit while your behind, duck.... didn't you learn this one in grade school???? " There's no greater fury..Then a woman's scorn " Janie will tare you up, and eat you for lunch!!
  7. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Jul 17 2012, 01:58 PM) For those who are members of ancestry.com, is it a free service? No, its not free ( what is free really?) it costs about $ 100-150 depending on which membership plan you get..its not cheap.
  8. Congradulations, man! Those kids will probably give you a tough time of it, but they'll eventually learn who's in charge...hopefully!

  11. QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Jul 15 2012, 09:32 PM) Any Safeway shoppers here? It's not uncommon stuff like this happens... Today, someone thought it was reasonable of him to hold up the line by refusing to pay for his items until he was given a discount. He didn't have a Safeway club card with him and didn't know his number, so the clerk couldn't give him the discount, store regulations. The solution of course was to complain until someone let him borrow the card or someone else solved the problem for him. If you're a Safeway shopper who expects discounts, yet is not responsible enough to remember your card or the phone number associated with it, then you're not getting a discount... Or you shouldn't get one anyway. I find it strange how rude customers are much more likely to get service than polite ones today. My grandmother used to say to my dad and then us kids: " The squeeky wheel gets the oil " (She was definitely old school.) That seems to be true most of the time. Good or bad?? Depends on the situation.
  12. Yep...and it's gonna be bitchin' too. I'm definitely goin' to a few. This album reminds me of the good ol days (mid-70's to 83 or so.)
  13. To each his own. My mom had 10 generation's of all of my dad's family professionally traced back to 1668 in London Eng...and all the other branches 4 generation's back to the 1750's..so it's VERY accurate. I have no doubt about that..and that was way before Ancestry.com came along. This was back in the late 1970's she had it done. So all the famous relation's stuff is 1000% accurate.
  14. Humility...key word.Exactly....Now it's the narcissistic dis-order of dancing with the stars and all that kind'a crap.Makes me want'a puke Full of A-holes..yep.no doubt. And it's only gettin' worse..not better, unfortunately.
  15. I voted 12. Any younger and they wont not get the meaning of the lyrics. It would be a total waste of time..but then again, they would definitely dig the tunes, for sure!
  16. There's really no reason to doubt Ancestry.com. The site is the best one around, and they're accurate 85-90 % of the time...I trust the site completely. It's been on the net for years..if it wasn't trustworthy, it wouldn't be there, that's for sure.
  17. Yeah, I want to do that again also. Thanksgiving and Christmas Is always a great time to volunteer at Homeless shelters. did that one year...felt really good to help. The homeless are seriously desperate and hurting big time.
  18. This world is completely nuts. (( Think people..use the grey matter between the ears..that's what it's there for.)) ....Sometimes I wish had a time-machine I'd go back to about 1885-90 or so. When people had brains, decency, and integrity......
  19. "HEY ANNNNNNDDDDYYYY!! ......WHERE'S GOMER?!??!!" RIP to the sheriff... That was the " GOLDEN AGE " of T.V.
  20. I had an AWESOME day today!! ..Made 80 bucks cash, for 3 1/2 hrs work, and was given 4 free brewski's, in the process !!!! I was stoked, needless to say!
  21. QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Jul 16 2012, 01:00 PM) Stay strong and move on. Excellent advice...You'll get thru it. It's tough, but you'll survive. I went thru the same situation. Keep close to family and friends. Me and my ex-wife divorced after 12 yrs...After I found out she was cheating on me. Bad situation, but life goes on. It gets better as time goes on...It took me about 2-3 years to get over her.The pain will subside. 100% guaranteed.

  23. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Jul 14 2012, 08:55 PM) QUOTE (Janie @ Jul 15 2012, 12:03 PM) A maternal great, great aunt was on ancestry.com with a picture. Wasn't her picture though. It was a picture of her younger sister. I have the family's collection of photo albums (since I'm so gung-ho on ancestry) so I knew right away the photo was wrong. Anyway, turns out there is a whole society involved around preserving the history of my great, great aunt (they were the ones who posted the wrong pic, not knowing the mistake they had made). I contacted this society and filled in about 85% of their gaps of info on her! (As a child, her beauty was such that a town had named themselves after her. The city name has since changed but there is a huge following of her and this old city and images of her - they even have a yearly gathering of everyone who is interested in her! No one in my family had ever contacted this society so I think they are happy that I could answer a lot of their questions and supply them with many photos of her.) Sounds like the famous Hilda of TRF. Anyone with relevant info on Hilda should contact Tick, historian and Hilda following cult leader Ok....Well, which one is it???? Hick the tic? or... Tic the hick?!?!??! J/k.. Sorry, tic..couldn't pass that joke up!
  24. QUOTE (cygnusthecat @ Jul 13 2012, 07:24 PM) QUOTE (Todem @ Jun 18 2012, 11:56 AM) 3/17/83 & 3/18/83 Went to back to back nights in Hollywood Florida for the Signals tour. I was 13 and just in awe of it all. I had the crappiest seats all the way in the rear of the arena....but it did not matter. This was my first rock concerts ever to boot. I will never forget it. I don't remember some of it....but I do remember certain things. Like the ho hum crowd reaction to all the stuff off Signals and anytime Geddy would say here is a new one off Signals and the groaning from some people around me...I was like WTF are you crazy??? This is amazing stuff!!! And TCE being played at an insane pace....like they were on cocaine! Anyway great times. Ahhhh The Hollywood Sportatorium. These were my first two shows and I was 17 at the time. They probably were on cocaine..Everyone was on coke, back then. almost everyone,anyways...I know I was!! Those were some wild crazy times back then.
