  1. QUOTE (invisible airwave @ Sep 27 2012, 05:54 PM) Let's hope at least one of these is better than 21st Century Letdown. 21st Century Letdown?! I was disappointed by it, not just because of the level of mainstream they have applied to their music on that album, but I believe it was just an attempt for another American Idiot. Uno! is another story. I've listened to it, and I enjoyed it. Not their best work since AI, but it surely beats 21CB! I anticipate Dos! and Tre! Green Day are back with this trilogy, and they're not screwing around now!
  2. Kudos Tombstone Mountain! You shall enjoy more to your time and postage here on TRF!
  3. 1. "Hand Over Fist" - A lovely song. Sure some of the lyrics may sound a bit out of place, but I can really relate to it. Take a walk outside myself in some exotic land/Greet a passing stranger/Feel the strength in his hand/Feel the world expand. Probably my favorite set of lyrics out of Presto. 2. "Middletown Dreams" - My favorite song from Power Windows. I just don't think it gets the love it deserves. 3. "Emotion Detector" - Again, I don't think it gets the love it deserves. 4. "Red Sector A" - Great lyrics. My favorite song from P/g. The imagery you get from the lyrics is just amazing, let alone the music it has to set the mood for whether or not there's hope. 5. "Cut to the Chase" - I feel I'm the only Rushian that listens to this song when I'm not playing Counterparts in whole. Just sayin'. (I still do listen to albums in full!) 6. "Turn the Page" - Do I really have to get started on this one?! My favorite Hold Your Fire song! I know the album may be under-looked at by some of us, including me, but this one is definitely among the handful of gems on the album. 7. "The Wreckers" - Most underrated song on the album, in my opinion. My favorite from Clockwork Angels? Too soon to tell, but I feel this is more underrated than "Wish Them Well". 8. "The Fountain of Lamneth" - 19 minutes of pure ambition that is underrated. Sure it may sound all over the place, but it kinda foreshadowed it's successor, 2112. 9. "Territories" - Another Power Windows gem that I feel isn't loved enough. You guys shoot at this song without shame, and you should feel ashamed! Okay, well, you don't really need to feel ashamed as long as your opinion is reasonable. 10. "Chain Lightning" - A great song from Presto. It lurks in everyone's collection and it really doesn't get noticed enough.
  4. The first day of my junior year, I was wearing my Rush shirt (from the Time Machine tour), and my then-English 3 teacher started to point out how he was a hard rock/metal head he was back then, and starting looking at my Rush shirt making all of these references, like "A working man flew by night on a passage to Bangkok." I was all like "WHHAAAAT?!"
  5. QUOTE (My_Shrimp_Cot @ Sep 20 2012, 05:09 PM) I almost forgot how beautiful the break going into the guitar solo is in this song. Holy crap. C I can't agree with you more on this one!
  6. I'll agree that it's a leap for Rush, but not their biggest. Caress of Steel - 2112 is their biggest leap, that is, for me, it is.
  7. QUOTE (snowdogged @ Sep 21 2012, 10:28 PM) The Beatles - Abbey Road Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell Rush - Caress of Steel Pink Floyd - The Wall The Who - Who's Next This list, I like!
  8. Now I'd like to see an Asian Kung-fu Generation song be played on American radio. Preferably "1.2.3.4.5.6. Baby".
  9. Will other people on the highway panic if they think I'm driving in the wrong direction?
  10. "Sore dewa, Mata Ashita" by Asian Kung-Fu Generation Since my copy of Landmark (the name of the album that the song is off of) came with the lyrics in Japanese (the language they are originally sung in), and the English translations. It translates to "Well Then, See You Again Tomorrow", and I can relate to these lyrics right now. "What he wanted What she lost" Yeah.....
  11. For now: Rush - Grace Under Pressure Asian Kung-Fu Generation - World World World Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head The Police - Ghost in the Machine Radiohead - Kid A
  12. I'm that kind of guy who actually uses the old-school method of brushing his teeth. Let the elbows do all the work!
  13. The setlist that contains "Middletown Dreams" when I see them MY LIFE WOULD BE COMPLETE well, partially complete...
  14. QUOTE (The Vigilante @ Sep 17 2012, 03:50 AM) Between the Wheels... Chemistry ... T4E Wow, I actually like this set of three songs.
  15. 1. Tai Shan 2. I Think I'm Going Bald 3. BU2B2 jk But in all seriousness... 1. Between the Wheels 2. Hand Over Fist 3. Kid Gloves
  16. QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Sep 14 2012, 11:25 PM) He's good. There's a lot of good drummers out there. So come one with the thread title Has Dylan played with a band? Drum solos mean nothing to me honestly, I like to see how drummers can play with a band and incorporate their style into songs in the studio. I don't see the purpose in drum solos unless it sounds well-constructed like the ones Neil does.
  17. The best four-piece band from Japan I've ever listened to. Their new album, 'Landmark' kicks serious arse. Where do I start with this?! Just Google their songs, dammit! It's like putting together Weezer and Foo Fighters together, basically. Now for the serious question... AM I THE ONLY RUSHIAN THAT IS A FAN OF AJIKAN?!
  18. QUOTE (wiped @ Sep 11 2012, 07:42 AM) QUOTE (vital signz @ Sep 11 2012, 06:37 AM) The Clockwork Angels-Power Windows Tour Clockwork Windows ? Power Angels ?* * actually - no , thats sound like a cartoon on Nickelodeon Clockwork Power, anyone?
  19. Clockwork Angels tour. They should've pulled more songs out of the vault for the Time Machine tour, though.
  20. When I was running/walking the mile today, I had "Headlong Flight" stuck in my head. IT MOTIVATED ME!
  21. Around April 2008, my dad came home from work one day, and had a nice chat with my neighbor. My neighbor apparently told him that he wouldn't make it to the Rush show, unfortunately, because he had a party to host at his house. My dad had been looking for someone to take his ticket to go for him, so he just asked all three of my brothers (1 younger, 2 older), and they all said "no", except for me. I was 13 around this time. I only had the slightest clue of who the hell Rush are. I only knew, about, two of their songs at the time, so I just told him that I'll go and take my neighbor's seat. Yes, at this time, I was just a "fill-in" who only knew "Tom Sawyer" and "The Spirit of Radio". Now the day of the show has arrived. April 19, 2008, to be exact. When I had took my seat in the Woodlands Pavilion, I only noticed Geddy's keyboard, because that was the only member of Rush I knew! "Amateur bandwagon-er" I proclaimed myself at the time. Then the lights were out. Show time. Alex plays the first notes of "Limelight". At the time, I never knew they did that song! Song by song, they sound more familiar... I noticed how concentrated Neil looked on the drums, too! "Why does he look so serious?", I ask myself. When the show was over, I never listened to Rush again until my freshman year of high school at around late-2009 when I made my first Rush purchase... a CD copy of Signals. Why would I make such a purchase? Something about them had me itching to listen to their music. Album by album, I slowly grew my Rush knowledge and love the underrated albums more than I love the overrated albums. When I first listened to Hemispheres, I now know why Neil looked so concentrated that night... WHAT A F*CKING DRUMMER HE IS! "La Villa Strangiato" works in such a "strangiato" way. Well, there you have it! And the fact that it's even Rush is what aspect won me over!
  22. This is one of those polls to where I just sit and think about it for minutes and gives in... I can't do it, dammit! They're all so great, I can't pick!
