  1. I love AFTK! It's always been one of my favourite Rush albums, but I've never really analyzed it the way you have.
  2. My favourite is "The Main Monkey Business" especially the live version on the Snakes and Arrows DVD. After that, YYZ, Leave that Thing Alone, La Villa, Hope... Oh forget it - how can I even pick a favourite - I love them all!
  3. QUOTE (Babycat @ Aug 13 2012, 06:29 AM) His voice. ! I call him "The man with the golden voice." I echo your sigh...
  4. I really couldn't care less if they extend their goodbye and take a bow. I'm there for a show, and when it's done, that's it. What I would want more than a group bow is a chance to meet them and shake their hands. Now THAT would be special! But I recognize their limitations - they perform a great show and obviously can't meet every one of their fans personally.
  5. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jul 12 2012, 07:26 PM) No, but I would have liked an instrumental. My thoughts exactly. I love Geddy's voice, so there can never be too much singing. But I do love their instrumentals, and I wish there was one on this album.
  6. Mine is taken from Dreamline, which is one of my favourite RUSH songs. Since I live a long ways from any venues where RUSH plays, every concert means a road trip. RUSH concerts are always adventures, so there you have it: I'm On the Road to Adventure!
  7. QUOTE (They Bow Defeated @ Jul 9 2012, 11:18 AM) Wow, all the Seven Cities complainers need to go back and listen to the debut and COS. Seven Cities is Rush's 70s blues rock interpreted through their "modern" approach. Seriously, Alex's blues rock riffing and leadwork, Geddy belting out the high notes, trippy fantasy lyrics: what's not to love? I can see complaining about Good News First or Bravest Face, but Seven Cities? Seriously? My only compaint is that there's definitely something "off" in the mixing or mastering. I'm still not sure, but I think CA is simply far too compressed, so the music feels "squeezed" and doesn't have much room to breathe. Even the vinyl suffers from this, though not nearly as bad as the CD. Oh well, at least this should be fixable some time down the road. I really like Seven Cities! I agree with all your other points too.
  8. QUOTE (H82LUZ @ Jul 10 2012, 12:40 PM) So will this become collectors item in time like RUSH One ??? If yes damn i have to buy it 3 times to get one i can open..... Doubt it. I'm sure there are thousands out there. I have one too. Thought it was another one of our trio's little jokes.
  9. Geddy said in an interview recently that they expect the CA tour to go on for 2 years. Since they've already announced that they are doing Europe in Spring 2013, I hope they do some Pacific Northwest dates in the summer of 2013. Vancouver, BC; the Gorge, Portland, would all be nice. There's a sad lack of NW dates on this first leg. Seattle on a Tuesday is impossible for a West Coast Canadian like me!
  10. If I had to choose a favourite from Presto, it would probably be War Paint. I'm generally not a fan of this album, but I also like Available Light and The Pass.
  11. QUOTE (Priest of Syrinx @ Jun 30 2012, 10:01 PM) I think it's one of the better tracks on CA. Me too.
  12. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 12 2012, 05:08 PM) Headlong Flight, The Wreckers, The Garden, Caravan Exactly the same as mine!
  13. QUOTE (ShlappinDahBass @ Jun 13 2012, 07:41 PM) QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 13 2012, 09:32 PM) QUOTE (ShlappinDahBass @ Jun 13 2012, 10:27 PM) QUOTE (xredsectorx @ Jun 13 2012, 09:27 PM) On a somewhat related note, anyone else's CD copy only have "0:00" listed beside all the tracks instead of the actual length of the songs? I think it's a glitch in the albums that were made in Canada. Go-figure. Maybe it was a special joke made for us up here?! You know..."CLOCKwork Angels". Maybe the boys caught all of the ridiculous threads on here about the time on the front cover's clock that they thought...'watch what we do to really mess with them'?! Brilliant. That is probably EXACTLY what they were thinking. Disappointed. I thought mine was the only one, and my CD might actually be valuable! Lol.
  14. Always first person, although I often walk around describing the action, like a reporter. Would that be considered second person? I'm still myself in the dream, and I don't see myself walking around.
  15. I'm waiting until I get the one I ordered through the Rush Backstage Club. I'll probably be away visiting my mother when it arrives, so it looks like my husband will get to listen before me! But I still refuse to listen to a pirated version. I'm too busy lately to spend much time listening to music anyhow. When I get the album, I want to sit and listen carefully, and celebrate the moment!
  16. Welcome to TRF! I am probably one of the oldest women on this forum. (I'm just a few years younger than the guys), but I didn't get into Rush until 1995. I fell in love with Geddy's voice, and later came to love the musicianship of all three guys. I'm not a musical person at all; in fact I'm not sure what you mean by a 5/4 person in a 4/4 world. I'm assuming that has something to do with beat? That's something I just don't have! lol I've seen Rush in concert only 3 times, and I've really been looking forward to the Clockwork Angels tour. Hope to see them at least once, but the schedule is not looking too good for me. Hope they add some western North American dates in summer 2013, or I will be missing the entire tour. Oh well, I'm still excited about the upcoming album!
  17. My favorite is the one I had a while ago where I saw Geddy and Alex on the street. Geddy was handing out his stage clothing from past tours. He didn't pay any attention to me, but I forgave him because he was so busy with other fans. Anyhow, Alex made up for it by giving me a big hug. He was wearing a black leather biker jacket. What a sweet dream!
  18. Off on your way Hit the open road, There is magic at your fingers
  19. CD's all the way. They're meant to be played in order, and sound better that way. I don't own an Ipod or mp3 player, so the choice is easy. I do have I-tunes on my computer, but the speakers are terrible, so I stick with my stereo. As for my car, I just have a radio. I'm quite happy to keep things this way. "Now it's come to this, it's like we're back in the dark ages..."
  20. I don't see ampitheaters on your list of choices. I like them cuz they're sloped, which is good for short people like me. I've gone to 2 of these of these concerts now, and was able to get seats in the covered part. The sound was great too.
  21. Heartfelt tribute. Well-written, as always.
