  1. I'd have to say LaVilla and Xanadu off of ESL - too easy. As someones else said, you could choose this whole album.
  2. During the odd times I listen to a Rush channel on Pandora and Styx or Yes comes on, my 8 year old can even tell who they are. She loves Come Sail Away and Lift Me Up.
  3. I don't know if I am a hard core fan, but I love Rush and am obsessed with them. I have been a fan since the mid 80's when I grew up enough to get out of pop music as a young tween. I pretty much only listen to Rush on a daily basis. I watch their videos nightly while working out at the house. I have passed their music down to my 11 year old and 8 year old daughters and they prefer Rush to any of the pop music that the "normal" kids are into. I would put my Rush knowledge up against anyone... Although I don't play a musical instrument, I have this strange feeling that if I picked up a guitar, something that sounded like Rush would come out magically. Does this qualify me?
  4. I have started imagining it saying Who Knew?...It's a far cry....
  5. What is the background vocal lyric at this point in the song? It's a far cry from the world we thought we'd inherit It's a far cry from the way we thought we'd share it I thought Geddy was just singing ooooooo, oooooooo, but I noticed during the CA DVD that Alex was lyp synching some words it looked like. BTW - love this song. Just a kick ass tune.
  6. I got annoyed with so many shots if the string players. I want to see the three guys. One shot once a song if the strings would have been fine.
  7. It is tough for me to chose between Headlong Flight and The Anarchist. I really like BU2B - something just gets me about it. Not sure why others don't like it as much. Headlong Flight The Anarchist BU2B Clockwork Angels Carnies Caravan The Wreckers Seven Cities of Gold Wish Them Well The Garden Halo Effect BU2B2
  8. So far I love it. I did notice a couple of bad goofs by Alex. He butchers the 2112 finale guitar part. Not to crazy about his Wreckers solo at the end, either. He nailed several other solos, though, so I can cut him some slack.
  9. As far as better: The Analog Kid can't get much more awesome, but it did. Dreamline just kicks ass live. I like Where's My Thing better live. Wasn't crazy about this version with the crunchier guitar, but still way better live. I have to say that Headlong Flight is an instant live classic. If that isn't played on every show from here on out (which hopefuly will be several), I would be surprised.
  10. I agree about the Garden - booooooooring live. A really neat song, but just not one to play live. I could have passed on Halo Effect, too. I like the song, but just not live. I would rather have been blasted by BU2B. I am not so sure about Middletown Dreams live, either. I love the song, but live there just wasn't enough umph to it. Too many sequencers and not enough Alex.
  11. I am not much of an audiophile, so I loved my copy of the DVD. I can't nit pick the sound, but I thought the show was unbelievable to watch again. The Analog Kid, The Anarchist and Headlong Flight were the hi-lights for me - heck all the songs were. I was pleasantly surprised by Geddy's voice. Interstingly, I thought the bonus clips from the other show were a little iffy, but he sounded great on the main show. Just an FYI - don't watch the bonus clip of The Family Guy with children in the room...
  12. I am not sure how you do it, but I like it? I get the general concept. I am just wondering if all these new "sounds" were in the original mix, just not up in the mix or if they were parts that were recorded and not included in the original mix, etc. I really like the new mix! There is the crazy reverb in secret touch that for some reason gave me super intense chills.
  13. I think I miss not having overdubs/backing tracks, etc. I like just keys and the guys. I sometimes wonder if they are any better than Ashley Simpson now... There was a minor trainwreck at the Buffalo show this tour during Far Cry where the 1000 Geddy's came in too early. Painful.
  14. I have not read them, so I am not an authority, but I think the info online and even the doc would give you all the info you need to know.
  15. I still think it was brilliant, but you really have to watch it a second time to get it all. I can see how it would not go over well in the here and now.
  16. I just saw it, too. crazy train was pretty cool too.
  17. How could anyone criticize the lyrics? They paint an incredible picture of a neat story. I can visualize everything happening with each word.
  18. Subdivisions, The Analog Kid, New World Man and Countdown are my favorites. Hearing new World Man on the top 40 countdown is what got me into Rush all those years ago...
  19. That is funny. I just was blasting this on my iPod today and thinking the exact same thing.
  20. I really like Double Agent, too. Not sure why there is so much hate.
  21. I don't pull this album out very often - I don't know why. When I do, I am just blown away.
  22. Dreamline is just an unreal song. I remember hearing it for the first time and being blown away - that powerful bah buh baah - like lover's and heroes... Dreamline, RtB and Where's My Thing are 3 of my favorites.
  23. This was my first Rush album as an "adult". I had been out of college a year or so and went to the local record store the night before it came out at midnight to get it. I called in sick the next day at work... I remember being amazed at how "heavy" it was after some really "light" albums prior. Animate, Cut to the Chase, Between Sun and Moon, Double Agent, Leave that thing Alone, Cold Fire and Everyday Glory are just amazing.
  24. I just got in. Just an announcement about the DVD. The headline made it seem like there was a TOUR. I was frantic! 11/19 release I think.
