  1. that pic of him and the birds.... oh my.... digress time cool update blog thing he concocted. always describes in detail of whats going on at the moment and paints a nice picture. no doubt a great writer. i rather hear a new album and no tour than a 41 year anniversary tour with some fan favorites. i love their new stuff.... sort of. anyhow great update. RUSH ON!
  2. I'm so effing stoked for this new DVD!!!! i watched luna park the other day and it still gets me all goose bumpy. the last two albums have been amazing efforts! amazing writing skills and chops to pull off the shit. this band has taken the reins from RUSH
  3. This is awesome news! Love the last two DT albums. Mangini is awesome. What a fantastic song also. Sounds great. When is it coming out? Like two years from now i bet.
  4. Hope Tim gets better soon Dennis chambers is another drummer that is in serious trouble. He was found in his hotel room unresponsive. He's on life support now.
  5. how can this band suck?! 30+ years. amazing musicianship and amazing crafted songs. Jeff freaking Pocaro! Simon Phillips! Luke! Come on folks. This band live is freaking amazing! vocals are always on. being a musician i can understand and get into the music. Seventh One, Kingdom of Desire and falling in between are favs. tambu also. monster song writers. they are huge in Europe but not in the states. it's cool they are playing in the US this year. gonna see them at the greek theater in LA. I will see them just don't know about hearing them. Sound blows ass there.
  6. throw in some caress of steel and fly by night. just one tune from each of those albums. that's all. i rather not hear a song from those two albums but since this is kind of like a farewell tour throw one in. it would be a crowd pleaser and make folks happy. a farewell to kings should have a few tunes thrown in the mix. get some old crap in there. they can leave out power windows cause last tour was a power windows tour. thrown in a song from each album. be nice to hear dark powerful tunes. not so many happy happy tunes. rush has had some cool dark tours with deep tunes and rich chocolate stages. cool lighting. last tour had amazing lighting. it's always a fun show no mater what they play. just play jacobs ladder and the entire crowd will go ape shit. that's a dark tune. bass sounds awesome. time signatures all over the place. such a cool tune. would love to hear that freaking song live. play hemispheres for petes sake. edit down and play it. come on. available light would be a cool tune live also. uplifting song. i could go on and on.
  7. Had a few listens of the new album. It's just ok. They sure love the crescendo theme for most of their music. Some tunes are annoying. Some a fun crescendo tunes. Gonna give it more spins for sure.
  8. Awesome news. So glad Marco will be on the record. He brings so much to the music. He is also very interesting to listen to. He's got great chops to pull off some nice ideas for the music. He's quite the pro. I bet the music will sound like the raven. I heard a teaser of his new solo album. He plays all the instruments.
  9. Three drummers live. No freakin thanks.
  10. Every song off the new Chromeo album
  11. I Believe by Robert Plant Don't Cry by Seal When You Come Around by Richard Page Middletown Dreams Lessons Learned by Carrie Underwood
  12. Dream theater is in town (Los Angeles) this Saturday and it's sold out. I so wanted to see them. Sold out is bad ass news. I should have gotten tickets months ago. I wasn't sure if I would be living in LA a few months ago. Anyone know if there are tix still out there!!!? Dam you moving schedule.
  13. That was a good blog entry. Enjoyed it. Touching about life and death. I like the bird talk. I'm a bird admire also. I also don't like blue jays. Have been dived bombed by them when I am near their nest with their young. Ballsy birds.
  14. Winter is going to get better really soon. Going from East Coast (Massachusetts) to Santa Monica California. Relocating for work. Cant wait to get back to Cally life and the nice weather!!!!
  15. Yeah man. Gwar gigs are fun. Mosh pits are solid. I always leave shirtless and sweaty wet. My body steams when I leave Gwar gigs. Always see them in the winter. So you hit the 40 degree air and you steam off fog. Their shows are workouts.
  16. Lists shmists. Who gives a flying F. Should have said in no particular order. All great players. Ringo and Charlie shouldn't be on that list. No Carlos Vega. So many drummers belong on that list. Why not top 300. Vinnie Colaiuta should be number 1. He has more chops than buddy. And a trillion more unique ideas and a lot more vocabulary. Weckl in top 5. Simon Phillips should be be way ahead of Peart. I would put Neil around the 40 and below part of that list. Who's Tony Allen. Peter Erskin at 40? What!? Who voted on this list?
  17. They should just retire from making albums. Didn't care for CA. Only tune I dug was the Anarchist. Neil's playing ain't what it used to be. Geddy's vocal phrasing is the same thing for every song. Has been for the last 3 albums. Just being critical here. I still love the band. Shame we have to get older. Such great song writers. Back in their day they wrote some amazing music. They created something new, refreshing, intriguing and with lots of substance. They logged in plenty of touring hours through 40 years. It's time for them to do what ever the heck they want. If they called it quits today I'm fine with that. If they keep the machine going that's freaking great. The one thing I would like to see is an interview of them talking music theory. Talking about their chops and how they aproch writing and playing. How they came about being really good at playing their instrument. How much practice they put in and what age they put in the most practice time and became really good. I'm sure it was all in their late teens and early twenties when all they cared about was playing and practicing. That's what all musicians go through. You have nothing but time to practice. Has anyone asked Neil how he comes up with his bizarre quirky fills like on Natural Science. So unexpected some of his ideas. It's what makes him unique and mr cool.
  18. Best concert. Porcupine Tree 2007 at the Avalon in Hollywood. Holy smokes that was amazing. Worst concert. Can't recall.
  19. Embarrassed!? What? Who gives a shit. 12 year old must have started this topic. It's music. I could give a flying f**k peoples opinon of the music I or anyone enjoys listening to. I mean what are you suppose to do with this information. Oh my god. Jimmy listens to Duran Duran! Hire an airplane to write jimmy likes Duran Duran in the sky with smoke. Get the news involved. Twitter that so and so likes this or that and it's embarrassing! This forum is just sad at times. If an artist or band is successful there you go. No one cares what music you play. It's like saying I don't like the tone of your voice. Your hair is to dark. Your mommy is hot. Your cars tires are not wide enough. Pot holes on the road need to be repaired. Embarrassed by music? WTF!
  20. Sweet. Will catch the upper Darby show. My first DT concert.
  21. Most good drummers who have been around a while and have played lots of different drums will tell you DW's are just flat. Some have good tone. No punch and attack. Yamahas sound amazing. He should play those PHX kits. He would still sound the same I bet.
  22. Have the blue ray. It looks good sounds like poop. Muddy. What happened to the drum sound. More poop. Read some of the comments in this thread and how people are saying these guys are at the top of their game performance wise. Heck no. For me their musicianship was at it peak around the P Waves through Power Windows. They were younger then. Presto and Roll up there also. It's been a slow decline since then. Especially Neil's chops. His time is still stellar. Drum parts and ochistractions are stale on Clockwork. Not fun. His solos are in the vain of wipe out! He can't execute the fills from some of the older stuff. Still think he's the man. Great rock drummer and comes up with the goods every single show. To bad the cymbals are lost on this new release. Alex is way to freaking loud. Teddy's vox could be louder. Neil needs to play better sounding drums. DW drums are some of the worst in the drum market. Why any pro plays them is beyond me. Guess they pay them some good scratch. I'm sure Neil gets stellar support from. DW and Sabian. He's a drum god. To bad the quirky off the wall fills like the one in Natural Science are a thing of the past. I do like his performance on the one track he plays on Vertical Horizons newest album. Also how about some plane looking drums. Enough of the artwork. Even the cymbals have art work. Jesus. One color and some silver or gold hardware. It would look sharp as heck. Go white or red.
  23. Snaked you must not like anything in life what so ever. Way to critical. Almost to the point nothing will be good enough for you. Sad way to live life. You poor soul
  24. Live from luna park! Wow wow wow and more wow. Watched it last night at a very loud volume. This band is amazing. One of the best rock bands out there. Performances A+ across the board. Mike M. Is just amazing. Band is so tight in all of those crazy music sections. So impressed by this band. Gonna watch this over and over. Very entertaining. Can't wait to catch them live next year. Have never seen them live. Kinda have with this new DVD release. This is a must purchase for all fans.
