  3. Saw Riverside at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth last night, and WOW, cracking gig Gromit!!!!!! Better than Rush in Dublin. Think I'd swap my front row Rush ticket in Sheffield tonight for a Riverside ticket in London. Can't remember what they played - as I haven't got round to learning all the song titles - but it was all very good, the crowd were captivated by it. If I do have a gripe, it's that the bass was a bit low in the mix. Picked up a copy of the Memories in my Head EP and it's, errr, very relaxing. Hints of awkwind in places. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u55/Nickslikk2112/Riverside/P1030383.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u55/Nickslikk2112/Riverside/P1030375.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u55/Nickslikk2112/Riverside/P1030369.jpg
  4. QUOTE (Passage2 @ May 16 2011, 01:26 AM) @Cosy Toes You must have been tripping your a$$ off on wrong juice. The Dublin show was extraordinary, or so everyone in the crowd except you thought. So, you know the views of everybody in the crowd do you? Can I Just tell you something then, I was talking to a bloke who has a ticket for the Manchester show, and he was so disappointed in the Dublin show he may not now go to the Manchester show, that's a man with 30 years of Rush concert experience. How's about this: QUOTE Hugely disappointing. The first set just doesn't work for me - the sequencing of tracks is strange, and lacks any kind of dynamic or momentum. The snakes and arrows tracks are pretty excruciating, particularly faithless. The 2 new tracks just sound like noise. Geddy's singing was just alarming, not sure if he was having an off night, although I've read lots of reports from the US leg saying similar things. I don't remember his voice being poor in either 2004 or 2007. The actual production is also not as impressive as the last few tours. No lasers, no pyro and a lighting rig that doesn't actually do much. Alex, I thought was pretty erratic as well. The moving pictures section which I was looking forward to wasn't great, the camera eye in particular just sounded a mess. la villa was played far too fast, I think. and this: QUOTE sat dead centre in the o2 and all i can say so far is what a shower of shite! Better pull their fingers out in the second half
  5. QUOTE (The Main Monkey Business @ May 16 2011, 09:30 AM) Rush is now arguably bigger than ever and if the first 2 songs are anything to go by, I see no reason why CA can't got platinum and be ranked as one of their best albums. Rush bigger than ever? Absolute Piffle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. QUOTE (Terrapin @ May 15 2011, 11:03 PM) [quote=Cosy Toes,May 13 2011, 11:33 PM On the positive side, Alex looked well into it - even if his guitar work is very Milli Vanilli Milli Vanilli? Are you suggesting that Alex is miming his guitar parts? Given your musical expertise and guitar playing prowess, I would be most interested to read your detailed assessment of the "mimed" bits? Please enlighten me Ms Toes... Oh, Alex is playing guitar, but he isn't playing all the guitars, if you get my drift.

Perhaps it's NOT their first priority. After all, they've got nearly 40 years of making music and touring behind them. In their earlier days, it consumed their lives. Neil has a young daughter. Alex has grandchildren, and Geddy has a teen daughter still living at home. Maybe, just maybe, now that they are closing in on 60, they want to enjoy some of the fruits of their labors and spend time with their families and non-music-related hobbies. They've earned it. Sure, I'd like to see new releases more often, but I'll gladly take what they care to offer at this point. We are VERY lucky as Rush fans that they've lasted this long AND that they still feel the urge to record and tour at all. +1 +2 I'm lucky to be seeing them in two days! From what I saw on Thursday, I wouldn't bother getting excited...
  9. QUOTE (presto123 @ May 13 2011, 03:28 AM) There is a misconception by most people that classic bands cannot put out records at the end of their careers that rival their best work. No misconception, it's truth. FWIW everything Duran Duran released was SHIT. My daddy was at University in Birmingham when Durran Durran broke through, so he knows. My mummy was a big Moody Blues fan, but she says all their late albums are SHIT. SO, there you are, conclusive proof. EPIC FAIL on your part.

QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ May 7 2011, 03:24 AM) QUOTE (tick @ Feb 7 2011, 12:16 PM) Here ya go ladies! http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii324/jawkjaw/double%20s%20pro/4750067838_abcd13429b_z1.jpg commence your drooling! Now u know what he looks like when taking a dump, or giving you a facial. He looked like that all night in Dublin. Face like a Bulldog licking piss off nettle.

  13. QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ May 14 2011, 03:11 AM) QUOTE (Cosy Toes @ May 13 2011, 06:33 PM) Wel, that gig was average at best. Easily the worst setlist since the resumed touring Yurp again. Set 1 took a hell of a nosedive after TSoR, only picking up with the last three songs. Then, wow they play all of MP, BFD, so we get The Camera Eye, but do we need Vital Signs? Neil had a face like a Bulldog licking piss off a nettle all night, and the lighting rig delivered less than it promised. The intro videos were shite. On the positive side, Alex looked well into it - even if his guitar work is very Milli Vanilli - and I thought taht Geddy's vocals held up very well (even if others differ in their opinion - and they do) So you went to the concert...why?? Because as a young 17 year old girl it was my first chance to see Rush live. Why shouldn't I go to the concert? It's not madatory to like it when you're there, it's called "Freeom of choice". Jeez Louise, you speak yur mind round here, and say it as you see it and people criticise you. If you want to know, I went to meet up with old friends (some have been grooming me on the internet for years) and visit Dublin for the first time.

  18. It's better than anything they've done since. It's better than the three they did before it. It's nowhere near as good as the first nine. I do occasionally choose to listen to it.

I'm hoping to get him with my slingshot The word is catapult, slingshot is the American slang word for it. You're not going all American on us all of a sudden are you mate?? Sir, have you not read the bible? Did not David kill Goliath with a slingshot? http://www.westfortbaptist.org/children/super-heroes/david-slingshot1.jpg I cannot be held responsible for the Merkins misappropriating a perfectly good word in bad faith, like they have done with some tasty teatime comestibles.
