  1. First Class was the only X-Men movie that I thought was any good at all. Some of the others were ok, but silly in spots. The first Wolverine movie was better because they avoided a lot of the unbelievable Muties in rubber suits and bad make-up. Maybe they are figuring out how to do it right so I'm sure I will succumb yet again.
  2. This show has always been a bit of a slow burner. I just love watching Jessica Lange chew the scenery.
  3. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/MrNobody.jpg I watch a lot of movies and ya takes the gud uns with the bad uns, but what a reward this one was. I can't recommend it enough. My wife who will never watch a movie more than once has demanded to watch it again. I love it when a movie attempts to get the audience to think instead of spoon feeding you chick flick, formula driven excrement. Edit: It is in English, btw, I didn't read the poster before I posted it.
  4. I had a feeling that someone was causing the zombies to show up in greater numbers at the fence. Even after they hinted that the girls were feeding them rats I suspected we weren't done with the Governor. He should have just left and rebuilt his empire somewhere else because he will eventually get killed deader than dead by someone. He does some really nasty things in the comic book that he didn't do on TV, maybe that stuff is coming now.
  5. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/FrankBent.jpg A rare look at the CatYorkie in its native environment, lounging on the South Park blanket on the couch.
  6. That cat doesn't look sweet at all. I used to have a little black cat with gorgeous green eyes that would love up on me one minute and then get that exact look on her face and attempt to eat my soul. Sleep with one eye open.
  7. I gots me a REALLY big TV so I don't have to go to a theater for just a couple bucks less than it costs me to by a movie on Amazon or at Best Buy. (I'm gonna end up a lonely old survivalist with a huge collection of music and movies no one else wants... )
  8. Soon to be seen on the latest Motley Crue tour.
  9. Well, the number of people that actually read is going down all the time. :eyeroll: I wonder if people we consider rich are envious of the massively wealthy and bitch about how they spend their money. Would someone let me know how much money I can make before it becomes someone else's business?
  10. It looks like he took a photograph of himself and then distorted it in Photoshop or some similar program and then painted over it or used it as a guide. I don't recall Alex being mentioned as a painter before so who knows, maybe he asked Hugh Syme for some pointers.
  11. The blu ray is almost always going to sound better, but I guess it depends on how it was made. Is it just a transfer to blu ray from the DVD or was it mastered for BR? I don't know how they do that stuff. I only ever watch the BR and it is quite wonderful, but R30 is one of my favorites so you are getting my opinion with a lot of bias attached to it. It is nice to have both because the DVD comes with all the extras and the CDs and the BR comes with the entire concert. Check the track listing to be sure.
  12. I enjoy his travel and tourism writing. He often tells me about places in my own country I might have never known about. I've done my fair share of bitching about his religious and political views, but if you only read the writers you agree with 100% you are in the middle of a boring existence. Edit: Having just read the thing he does come across as quite dickish in a couple of spots. I have found over the years that the things that make me angry are things I have no control over or behavior in other people that I don't care for in myself. Anger is often based in fear. NP seems a bit unsure of himself and self-consious in this latest blog post. Not one of my favorite entries.
  13. If it follows the US release it is a no-frills slim case edition. Unlike the DVD it has the entire concert so that is why I have both.
  14. - Why do I keep thinking about "Pumpkin Squash"? - What is the ratio of a pumpkin's circumference to its diameter? Pumpkin Pi. - That's a gourd-gous sculpture.
  15. Pretty fun and it lead me to the Geddy interview. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/q-a-rushs-geddy-lee-on-finally-taking-a-break-from-the-road-20130923
  16. Hold Your Fire for sure. Like a lot of folks it has grown on me and like it now, but it still remains near the bottom with Caress Of Steel. During the eighties I was getting a bit let down each time with the shorter songs and the lead role taken by the keyboards and then Hold Your Fire came out sounding like a soft rock album made by my favorite heavy band. I thought it was over, but the slow return to a more rocking sound during the 1990s gave me hope that things might turn around. One of my problems at that time was that I saw no live shows between Signals and Counterparts. These days I can look back over the entire catalog and I enjoy it all. Even Caress Of Steel is fun to listen to these days and it does have several awesome bits on it. Still don't like Rivendell, but that was out long before I ever heard it.
  17. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/CADVD.jpg Ordered! Yesssssssss. Counting down the days. http://www.amazon.com/Clockwork-Angels-Tour-Blu-ray-Rush/dp/B00F878KFM/ref=pd_rhf_ee_s_cp_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1YCD4CC1BYZEXKG342Z7
  18. I think if enough people watch episode 423 Bride Of The Monster with Hired! Part 1 and immediately watch episode 424 Manos: The Hands Of Fate with Hired! Part 2 that one day man will travel in time.

  20. When the Sector sets came out the most noticeable changes were on Hold Your Fire. It was a bit jarring at first, but months later with comparisons to the the original have left me feeling like I have two versions to choose from. I listen to Rush on vinyl more than anything, but every time I listen to the LP now I have to hear the remastered CD again or these days the HD Tracks version. It will probably happen with Vapor Trails versus Vapor Trails Remixed now. It's all a conspiracy to get us to listen to more Rush.
  21. Remix the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame speech so that Alex actually says something. :eyeroll:
  22. After hearing the newest one a few times I'm still leaning toward the original. I like the punch of the original, but there is no denying the clarity on the remix. I the think the Retrospective III version is destined to become a lost stepchild at this point.
  23. I have the box set and haven't opened it yet, but I did get the HD Tracks and they are very nice, if a bit pricey. I agree that Presto and Roll The Bones are not very different, but these remasters probably beat most versions unless you are a vinyl junkie. I tend to put the vinyl versions above everything, but there is no mistaking the fact that 24bit/96khz, 3072kbps is a great way to represent this music digitally. These albums were the first ones mastered and released with CD in mind and sometimes volume and compression issues differ all over the place. And speaking of the compression issues some folks bitch about it with the HD Tracks, but man, they must have dog hearing or something. The sound on these is so clean you can eat off it.
