  1. LEMMY! Okay, no, but in all seriousness, I did vote for him simply because, blah, all of the Ged crap is really throwing off my Rush vibes (and I do think Ged is reasonably attractive, don't get me wrong). But I wouldn't do Lemmy for fear of his pandemic of STD's, which I can only assume he is ridden with. Didn't he sleep with over a thousand women? But yeah, this thread is pretty class A+. I approve.
  2. QUOTE (Mara @ Dec 14 2010, 11:11 AM) QUOTE (garbo @ Dec 14 2010, 11:07 AM) I want to geld my boy roommate, and not because he's necessarily breeding (that's an impossibility), but because he is dumb and I've noticed that geldings are easier to handle once they're, you know, gelded. I have Ace and clamps and I've done it on a horse. I can help; I assisted on my dog's neuter surgery. Held the balls and stretched the spermatic cords tight while the vet clamped and snipped. No muss, no fuss. There is a reason that gelding/neutering is often referred to as "brain surgery". Ace can do bad things to people, though. I once took a handful of the tablets (they have the same shape and feel as generic Advil in the dark). I seriously thought I was going insane. I've done horses before and my BFF does cats and dogs (cut, pull, get vas, clamp), but I shall certainly call you for assistance because I think women should do gelding and neutering. We only have liquid Ace at the barn and I'm pretty certain you can't give that to humans. Murder is illegal right? I'm just kidding! I think... no, really, I am.
  3. QUOTE (tkdryan @ Dec 12 2010, 02:30 AM) i saw A Bur-less-q Nutcracker ,,, hilarious stage show by Mark Sonna Im slowly getting my swagger back, being newly single is kinda fun You need to get Burlesque out of your head, either the movie or a stage version or whatever. The dog likes to sleep on my feet to keep them warm. I like this most splendidly.

  5. On a whim I bought tickets for Rush at the O2 in Dublin. Well, lots of things have changed and I even considered selling the tickets (I may still). That being said, in case I don't, I was thinking about taking my mom to Ireland. For those who don't know, I was posting about it elsewhere and basically her health has gone down hill. However, if it gets up to parr in time for the Rush concert, I thought maybe taking her to Ireland and to see Rush would be an awesome trip. That being said, she uses a walker (it's like the Cadillac of walkers. It is awesome). I have tickets for section L, row 41 and I'm not sure how I could change things around if I bring my mom with her Cadillac walker. Could I? Would I need to contact the venue and have proof that my mom is, indeed, in need of assistance? Or is it too late?
  6. I'm still having simple and partial complex seizures, which are both freakishly interesting types of seizures. Simple can manifest themselves, like, I was volunteering and I thought someone was making tomato soup and someone was obviously not. So, smells, sounds, etc. Partial complex are not as cool. I have about a hundred of those a day, which are not as frequent since I'm medicated. They last about thirty seconds and they can be a feeling of dread, deja vu, extreme anguish, religious anxiety, you name it. Bizarre. And I usually space out while I'm having them. I didn't know those were seizures until my neurologist asked and I told him and then he said, "Bingo. Seizures." With my meds, though, they've stopped beyond anything worse (since seizures spread across the brain and can go from something like a complex into a tonic clonic). So! My friend, who also has epilepsy, calls me and tells me that his medication is making him suicidal. He hasn't told anyone, but he knows I'll understand since I was in a similar situation with one of my meds. However, he doesn't want to tell his doctor because a. his doctor will call his parents (they're friends) and b. threats of suicide usually put you in the psyche ward. He's in grad school and I think the stress mixed with the medication are all contributing factors, but it worries me. He did tell me he is going to get his meds changed, so at least he is being proactive because he knows I would kick his ass if he didn't.
  7. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Dec 9 2010, 07:31 AM)QUOTE (garbo @ Nov 30 2010, 10:33 PM) New dog!! He technically belongs to my roommate, but we kind of share pets. His name is Jack and he is a 90 pound Black Lab/German Shepherd/Wolf cross, rescued from extermination. He is terrified of the cats and will climb in your lap because he is convinced he is the size of my two pound guinea pig. Here he is proving he has super awesome manners (he is only a year old). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/155699_473367990736_517040736_6202106_5784828_n.jpg And here is Clara, the cat, mothering Suzie, who does not want to be mothered. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/76300_474283490736_517040736_6212248_6660267_n.jpg that's a nice mix. i love labs and german shepards. Yep, he's an awesome boy. Rotten and myself today (notice the beads and Reffy's glittery hooves). I was tired (I had been up since five) so that's why I look semi-angry. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/CIMG2270.jpg
  8. Parade went well and my horse did exceptionally well. The only thing she freaked at was a sewer entrance. She's so weird.
  9. QUOTE (BeOhBe Bob @ Dec 11 2010, 12:25 AM) QUOTE (Mara @ Dec 11 2010, 01:17 AM) QUOTE (CMWriter @ Dec 11 2010, 12:56 AM) This girl I have classes with at my school (and have actually gotten to know somewhat well the past four years) is getting national recognition... and I find it terribly annoying. She's a great person, yes. She started a beauty pageant for disabled and mentally ill girls, yes. That's all wonderful. But she gets to go to L.A. and New York and wins about a thousand awards? And then comes back to school and brags to me about getting Chris Pine's arm around her shoulder? (And this girl knows I love Star Trek more than life.) I'm sorry, she's a nice girl and all, but she got to be on freaking national television tonight. There are a lot, lot, LOT of amazing volunteers and people our age working for great causes. And what do they get? Induction in National Honors Society? Maybe a piece of paper and a cord at graduation? I guess I'm not really mad with her (aside from the Chris Pine part, lol) as I am with society in general. Where's the recognition for the people that go off and make a difference, but maybe don't get it out there and make a big deal about it? What she's doing is wonderful, but is it really all that more special that what other people have done day in and day out, too? I guess it's just my jealousy speaking... Edit: Oh, oh, and it gets worse! I heard a rumour that (A) NU's quarterback, the redshirted freshman Taylor Martinez, might be transferring to a Cali school. I know he had a bad night at the Big XII championship but that's no excuse for cowardice! And (, also heard a rumour that Coach Bo Pelini has been "in talks" with the Florida recruiting people. He can't leave us!!! We need him!!!! Been there on the jealousy thing - both in high school and professionally. I think everyone has. If nothinng else, being aware of the fact that you're jealous can be a reminder/motivator to refocus on your own performance. (I'm not saying you don't work hard - what little I know of you indicates exactly the opposite). Everyone's talents are different. Somewhere there's probably someone who wishes they had your writing skills. Oh - and the girl I was always jealous of in high school, who always seemed to have everything land in her favor? Saw her recently. Let's just say things have evened out considerably. (Plus she hasn't aged well AT ALL. Yeah, call me catty. I admit it). you're catty Another reason I am friends with dudes. Well, they think my Mom has tumors on her pituitary gland. It's been a rough twenty-four hours.
  10. My mom called me to inform me her doctor sent her to the ER thinking she was having mini-heart attacks (since she is in congestive heart failure). Thankfully, she wasn't, but she's spending the night in the hospital with further tests. They think it's an electrical misfiring or a blockage. I also think I need a brain transplant. Like. Now.
  11. I'd add Stagecoach as well as some new ones, especially because Westerns have taken a new turn. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford The Proposition (especially for the philosophical implications) Legends of the Fall No Country for Old Men Paris, TX (I actually studied this in a Western film/literature course) Dances With Wolves (not exactly a Western, but still) My favorite film though, so much love for this film. Casey Affleck should have won the Oscar Damn. Maybe I should go watch this...
  12. At the Christmas parade, I got Bacchus beads. It's like Mardi Gras! YAY! I also got the Grim Reaper, but I don't want to talk about that.
  13. Avatar? What is this Avatar you speak of? Do not you folks mean Dances with Smurfs In Space? http://adamthinks.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/dances-with-wolves-avatar.jpg Yeah... that's right... I went there.

  16. OPERA I don't know. I just can't see Ged singing the role of Cavaradossi in Tosca, but you just never know. ETA: And lately this BADASS. Beware of nightmares and
  17. Hiking through the woods Pony time AND IT'S HANUKKAH!!! Rosh Hashanah is my favorite of the Jewish holidays, but I do have a special soft spot for Hanukkah. But I'm not lighting my Menorah this year.
  18. My state needs to make up its mind. My horse has no winter coat and then it dropped into the thirties the other night and she nearly froze. Then it got hot, now it's in the thirties again. Today it was sunny and in the fifties. Gorgeous day.

    Cats!

WTF!!! We need one dedicated to horses now. If you look just right you can see Clara beside Suzie (she's hiding beside the bookcase). She's convinced Suzie is her baby. Suzie does not concur with this sentiment and bites her. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/76300_474283490736_517040736_6212248_6660267_n.jpg Tiki, post lady surgery. She can longer produce kittens. Aw. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/71648_459931195736_517040736_6001602_2674859_n.jpg My miniature self (and that is a totally a little boys' Lego shirt) and the Bitch. She has no other name (okay, she does, but I call her Bitch Cat, because she is!). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/Garbo/Photo3-1-1.jpg And I am going to be fostering a cat this winter, maybe taking the cat on permanently. We'll see. I'd rather have a dog.
  21. QUOTE (CMWriter @ Nov 29 2010, 07:27 PM) ...Hey, now, those kimonos weren't that bad. Everyone got to gaze at his pasty white chest and be blinded by the lights reflecting off of it. LMFAO!!! They should bring the kimonos back for shits and giggles. http://gi255.photobucket.com/groups/hh144/4T0IUBT2L4/RushKimonos.jpg
  22. I thought the fourth film was hilarious, especially Harrison Ford trying to run around and be a badass. But like the recent bad Star Wars films, no... no... no. There should be no fifth film. I like the old ones, even Temple of Doom, as bad as it is.
  23. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Nov 29 2010, 04:03 PM) But... Wormtail dies in the cellar right then in the book. Harry tells him he owes him for saving his life in PoA and Wormtail's metal hand turns on him and chokes him, allowing Harry and the others to escape the dungeon I'm such a dunce. I totally misread what you wrote initially. I think it was one of those "What should we leave in?" moments. As I said, I initially thought he died, which aggravated me since, like you said I thought it was a poor way for him to end, but then a friend pointed out to him that he was simply stunned. I'm wondering if they'll give him a grander death, however, that's really veering away from the books. I keep reminding myself there is a second part and things are going to be different.

    Beauty, eh!

Bump. I was watching a special on SNL, and although I loved SNL (not really the new stuff), but sometimes I'm amazed at how similar SNL and SCTV are. And I'm pretty certain that some things were ripped from SCTV. I'm not complaining because I watch both, but it's just amusing. That being said, Rick Moranis in pretty much anything is brilliance.
