  1. Past hour
  2. Same. I might have picked Promises In the Dark if it were included.
  3. Interesting ranking. A lot of Sab fans put Sabotage way up there. Symptoms of the Universe and Hole In The Sky are among their greatest songs but the rest of the album IMO isn't as good. I do appreciate they branched out their sound on the other songs, but they still don't quite stand up to the bulk of the songs on The FIrst Five albums.
  4. Pearl Jam- Ten I've mostly listened to Redux for the past few months. But the magic of the original mix is unsurpassed. This is how I fell in love with the band, it doesn't need changing (though...I do love Redux)
  5. One of the ugliest losses ever! Up 2-1 in the 9th, a Brewers insurance run gets denied because the ball got lodged in the outfield wall padding. Ground rule double. Runner goes back to 3rd. Bottom of the 9th, Miami ties it on a 2-out cheap ass bloop single to right.
  6. I listened to these guys a bit back in the late 2010s. I've been meaning to play the new album
  7. Slash - Orgy of the Damned I usually dislike big ensemble albums but I'm also a sucker for long blues wankery. It was a fun album
  8. . . . and then they lost, jes? to Meeami?
  9. Today
  10. I work in systems, should have chosen propane.
  11. Nightwish- Endless Forms Most Beautiful If I have issues with Human Nature, I have none with this one. Every song is perfectly formed, the entire album works as a concept and as an experience. The Greatest Show On Earth is my favourite song ever written that's over 20 minutes (and I don't give a f**k if its not proggy enough, or if other bands write more complex pieces, or if it's this or that. It's a f***ing brilliant Nightwish song that's grandiose and does everything I want Nightwish to do, and they do it perfectly). I must admit the new single has me fired up and ready to go.
  12. If Art Carney was in it, I hope it wasn't a sewage of a movie.
  13. One out of four. I will not be picking the semi-final winners because it would be unfair to the teams I would have selected.
  14. So I replayed Human Nature. These are my thoughts: Let me list the songs I absolutely love: Music Noise Shoemaker Tribal Endlessness I would go as far as to say Shoemaker is one of the bands finest moments to date. Music is actually an incredible song, especially when the lyrics and themes are taken into account. Noise has a lot to say and I've come to love it. Tribal is a breath of fresh air after a few meandering tracks, and Endlessness ends the album, and Marko's time with Nightwish, on a sombre, haunting note. The songs I don't love, but really like: Harvest Pan Procession Closest to filler: How's The Heart This is the rest of the album. Grouped together as they are, they seem to merge and the album becomes quite meandering. I used to love Pan but I didn't today. How's The Heart is the only song off this album that feels basic. I'm starting to really appreciate this album, and Floor has a rhythmic, lyrical bent to her voice that I have never heard before. I didn't like it much at the time, but when I listened to this album with the lyrics and the art in front of me, I realised how incredibly challenging this was for her and actually, it was delightful to listen too. It's not a flawless album, the middle section does run together and those songs I do not love do feel aimless. But I've always quietly defended this album without ever quite feeling fully satisfied. But yes, the songs I love, I truly love. As for the instrumental disc, I am playing it now and I still love it. As someone who listens to film scores and classical music, I have a great time with this. All in all, not my favourite Nightwish album, not their worst. I don't do number ratings anymore, but of I did, this is a 7. I'd rank it in the bottom three with Angels Fall First, and a fan fave which is the wonderful, but not perfect, Oceanborn. However the best moments on this album rank with their masterpieces. Best song: Shoemaker Worst song: How's The Heart
  15. The new single is incredible. Floor sounds FANTASTIC, the song takes twists and turns that feel so exciting (especially considering this is a song from the middle of the album, it's giving Scaretale vibes). This could have been an Annette era song, and I live for it.
  16. Nightwish- Perfume Of The Timeless Guys. My band is back. I cried listening to this, Nightwish was a band I shared with my mum. This would have really pleased her. It's giving Imaginaerum meets Endless Forms vibes and I'm so in love with it.
  17. Avenged Sevenfold- Nightmare Fantastic band and album. So Gar Away is one of the best metal ballads.
  18. Pearl Jam- Lightning Bolt Pearl Jam- Vs I recently said that I think Lughtning Bolt is a personal favourite, maybe not actually one of their best. f**k that, I think it's absolutely one of their best. End of discussion.
  19. My favourite Benatar hit is Shadows Of The Night. Of this list: We Belong Love seeing some Pat love here!
  20. Pat Benatar is one of the greats. We still celebrate Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, ABBA, Stevie Nicks...how on earth have we allowed Pat Benatar to fade into the background? Big fan of the vast majority of her catalogue.
  21. Oilers advance with a clutch save there at the end. Congrats!
