Entre_Perpetuo
Which of these two classic but often ignored Rush love songs is superior in your opinion, and which is superior with the addition of Different Strings, which generally receives more praise but is in approximately the same category as the former two? Entre_Perpetuo
A dramatic turn of events! Please don't fire me from my ambassadorship, but I have to go with Tears here. It's just so perfectly heartfelt where Madrigal seems a little playful at times (probably the synth). Plus, by the time I had gotten to Different Strings, I had already heard the rest of Permanent Waves, had been told it was the least great song on the album by my dad, and had already grown to love and cherish Tears and Madrigal...so DS was in a bad position to make a great impression on me, though I still love it. Lucas
I love Tears .. There is something special about it - very visual for me Madrigal is good too, but nowhere near the same level as Tears I like Different Strings a lot, but I think that song is more about Geddy and Alex Tears is Top 15 for me

Narps
Tears easy but I would consider In The End a love song and better than any of these...

Entre_Perpetuo
I realize Rush had other early love-ish songs, but I've always felt these three are very similar and related songs which are fun to pit against each other so I picked them. I would take the live version over these three easy, though I'd still rank Tears over it studio wise.
