JohnnyBlaze
'SLICE OF GRANDMA' cuts into SE Asia JB's fictional rock band's tour of Cambodia and Vietnam 10 days, 10 gigs. What's a rock band to do in their spare time in Cambodia and Vietnam other than check the local sights and party? Unfortunately our tour photographer deleted EVERY picture he had of our shows so there's no evidence of our stupendence performance or our screaming fans. You'll just have to take my word for it that the audience was clawing it's way to the stage to get closer to their heroes. In any case, our tour photographer did manage to get pics of what we did in our free time. Here you have SLICE OF GRANDMA on a boat of extremely questionable sea worthiness (the water was gradually seaping through): Yours truly on lead guitar (front left), our volatile Irish drummer (front right), the quirky English bassist (back left), and our young introspective vocalist from Chi-town (back right) http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/andrewq2112/Cambodia/karaokeandnam201.jpg Angkor Wat (Siem Reap, Cambodia) http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/andrewq2112/Cambodia/karaokeandnam036.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/andrewq2112/Cambodia/karaokeandnam040.jpg

I see that your band didn't need a drummer but at least I was on standby.Maybe RUSH'S 40 th anniversary album release could be called SLICE OF GRANDPA as a gesture to your band It looks like a great place you went to JB and I am looking forward to seeing more of these awesome pics

Besides, you're Necro's death metal group's manager. It'd be partially your fault for not having any gigs lined up thereby forcing me to find work elsewhere. Anyways, here's a temple called Ta Prohm in the same area as Angkor Wat. This one's particularly interesting since the jungle is virtually swallowing the site itself. I do believe that this one's nearly a thousand years old and was used in Tomb Raider (haven't seen it, just heard about that info). Although there have been some walkways & support beams constructed throughout the temple, little to nothing has been done to preserve the actual structure. This is intentional. The jungle and trees in particular are growing around and through EVERYTHING. JohnnyBlaze
Thanks to all for the photo compliments. Cambodia isn't the usual site for Western tourists and actually I don't know many that have even been to Angkor Wat. However, I'd highly recommend it. The flight may be expensive but once you're there it's damn cheap.... JohnnyBlaze
QUOTE (sundog @ Jun 5 2007, 10:15 AM) I'm confused. Is there, or is there not a rock band? The pictures are Amazing. Thanks for sharing JB. I thought it was pretty clear in the title and the original post. But it's all good. Let me explain...after Necro's death metal band (of which I was one of the guitarists) went into Limbo, I returned to my rock roots. It was during this time that Alex Lifeson approached me to become The Boyz' 4th member. As great as that would have been, I declined because I didn't want to possibly ruin the chemistry among the them. Shortly after that, "Jimbo" (who would later become SLICE OF GRANDMA'S bassist) approached me with the the idea of an international rock quartet (and also the group name). I agreed and soon "AngryDaveIrish" and "StonerSteve" were added to become our respective drummer and vocalist. So back to the pics.... Sorry I can't remember the name of this temple offhand (and even I did I probably wouldn't be able to spell it).... (once again, look at the dude for scale) http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/andrewq2112/Cambodia/karaokeandnam162.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/andrewq2112/Cambodia/karaokeandnam163.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c107/andrewq2112/Cambodia/karaokeandnam165.jpg
