lerxt1990
A-HA! I will be trying a La Aroma de Cuba today - it has gotten high marks; but I looked at an ad in Aficinado, and it said go to AshtonCigars.com for information - so its an Ashton product, which would explain its high marks... I have thought I might get into a pipe even more. And CeeJ was saying they might be more my thing as well. I've only smoked a pipe once, and that was twenty years ago. It was okay, but I never took it up. I remember that the tobacco I smoked was called Cavendish, and it was quite nice. Very mellow. I like pipes, but I always think Im lookin' like Fred MacMurray ... Spirit_of_2112
I'm fairly new to cigars, having tried only a few Dominican kinds. I really enjoy a cigar with a good bourbon during the summer (I currently have a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle 12yo Special Reserve), but I'm really not sure what to look for. Does anyone have any bourbon pairing suggestions without being incredibly pricey? Also, what does everyone like to smoke with a glass of Syrah/Shiraz? lerxt1990
For me, a good cigar is a good cigar and will be so with anything (within reason). Try: Ashton Padron Romeo Y Julietta Macanudo of various sizes or flavors
Spirit_of_2112
Thanks. I've always thought darker cigars would be best with bourbon to compliment the smokey flavor and to contrast the sweetness of the bourbon.

Yes looks can be deceiving. If you even want a little help go to cigaraficinado.com and sign up for a free registration which gives you access to a lot of reviews. Or ask the folks at your local smoke shop - if its a decent shop, they will help you...like wine, cost doesnt always equate to the best smoke for you... Cygnus
QUOTE !!! Urgent Request from Thompson Cigar !!! ******************************************************** The U.S. Senate will shortly vote on a proposal to expand the state children?s health insurance program by $35 billion. Funding is to be provided solely through higher tobacco taxes. The tax increases on cigars are particularly punitive, as all large cigars would be subject to a tax of 53.13% of the manufacturer?s selling price. This is an increase of 156.4% over the current rate! And, while the current tax on cigars is capped so no cigar pays more than $.05 in federal taxes, the proposed legislation would increase the cap by 20,413% (not a typo) to $10 per cigar! The combination of these two factors will result in a dramatic increase in cigar prices in the U.S. and many cigar companies are likely to go out of business. We urge you to phone the offices of your own U.S. Senators (see list below), give them your name and address and ask that they vote to oppose the punitively high cigar tax increases in the state children?s health insurance legislation. Please call only your own U.S. Senators because Senators respond to the concerns their constituents, not to those who live in other states. ---------------------------------------------------------------- List of United States Senators Office Phone Numbers: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Alabama Sen. AWESOME!!! http://urubu.files.wordpress.com/2006/04/Fuentes_Hemingway_Cigar.jpg I had three of those last year. A most excellent smoke! I also want to commend a site to my fellow cigar smokers. It's Cigarbid. It is an auction site, but you can find some real good deals if you click around. I've found it's best to bid on 5 or 10 packs rather than whole boxes. They always have some Gurkhas and Sherpas which I recommend highly and would even go so far as to say that your humidor is incomplete without some in it, but if you ever see that DH from Summerville, SC is bidding on a lot I'd appreciate it if you didn't outbid me. They also frequently have cigar-related items, so if you're looking for a Cohiba sign for your den or a good Colibri lighter, they probably have one or two. Its really (IMO) the only way to enjoy tobacco at its best. Its also a wholly relaxing activity, especially if enjoyed in one of your favorite passtimes (golfing, sitting/relaxing with your fav drink) ...
