Primus drummer Tim Alexander has heart attack (survived, will have surgery next week)

Recommended Posts

Longtime Primus drummer Tim Alexander has suffered a heart attack, and will have open-heart surgery at the beginning of next week, according to bandmates.

Alexander, now in his third stint with Primus, has also appeared on two studio efforts and an EP with Puscifer, who confirmed the news via Facebook:

Alexander was also with Primus from 1988-96 and again from 2003-09, contributing to a total of seven albums — including their best-known early ’90s projects, ‘Sailing the Seas of Cheese’ and ‘Pork Soda.’ He rejoined the Les Claypool-fronted group in 2013, and appeared on the hit ‘The Hollow’ by A Perfect Circle, a group also fronted by Maynard James Keenan of Puscifer and Tool.

Ultimate Classic Rock sends our best wishes to Alexander, both for a successful operation and a speedy recovery

Best wishes to the amazing tim alexander and his loved ones

He was always such a health conscious person

One hell of an amazing drummer and IMO the best drummer to prosper in the nineties other than Danny Carey

Always soft spoken

A good person

Hope all goes well

Again just a fantastic drummer

Was listening to primus today

The hallucino genetics soundtrack and was still blown away by his drumming and great drum sound and his creativity

Wishing him the best

Hope Tim gets better soon

Dennis chambers is another drummer that is in serious trouble. He was found in his hotel room unresponsive. He's on life support now.

Just found this thread in Drummerworld about Dennis.. Hes receiving care in Spain.. Very sad.. Hope he pulls through .. Monster drummer and by all accounts a great guy

I heard about this yesterday and I'm so bummed out. I am a huge Primus fan and Herb's playing in particular. It sucks to see your favorites growing up showing signs that we're all mortals afterall and are getting older.

Les' post about this was really heartfelt, it's great to see they're still so close after everything they've been through over the years.
