treeduck
Black Sabbath 'six tracks' into recording new album - without Bill Ward The metal legends will release their comeback album in April next year Black Sabbath have revealed that they are six tracks into recording their new album. Tony Iommi has said that the final album will consist of 15 tracks. The Guardian quotes the guitarist as saying: "We've written the 15 songs and we've played them all, but now at the moment we're recording them. We're about six tracks in at the moment." Iommi also confirmed that the legendary metal band are working on the new album, which is due for release in April of next year, without original drummer Bill Ward. "We'll always have a heart for Bill, but I think it's gone past that now, because it's gone on so long I don't see that happening at the moment," he said. Last month, Ward said to Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes in On The Road - Black Sabbath and the Birth of Heavy Metal - which you can view at Vice.com - that he hoped to make amends with the band. Ward said: "If there is some longevity with Black Sabbath, then I'd like to be part of it." He added: "I wanna play hard rock music. I wanna play loud drums. I love playing with Terry [Geezer Butler, bass]. I love playing with Oz [Osbourne, vocals]. And I love playing with Tony [iommi, guitar]." http://www.nme.com/news/black-sabbath/67059

Are they talking about Dio? :sundog: :haz: :guitar: :smoke: Could be. Geezer is writing the lyrics and Dio is Italian for "God", so it would be cool if it was written in tribute to him. It's also possible that Geezer is just speaking the truth with the title to. As far as Bill not being with them all I gotta say is f**k Bill. The other three agreed to do this and there's no reason he shouldn't have either. He's the one letting the fans down here and I have no sympathy for him because of that. As I understand it, Sharon and Ozzy wanted Bill to take less money than the others. Why should he agree to that? Ozzy sued Iommi over the rights to use the name Black Sabbath when they reunited with Ronnie and suggested he did so because he thinks only he, Geezer, Tony and Bill are Black Sabbath (although Iommi bought all three of the other original members out between 1980 and 1985 or so). Now, of course, Ozzy's "singing a different tune."
adace1
I'm not bothered that Ward won't be a part of it. As long as the music's good (which it most likely will be), I'm set.

My jaw dropped when I read that particular section. if Ozzy signed away his contract, then legally he can't take it back. I think. Anyway, it's not like he really needs the money, is it..? Or am I missing the point? Iommi settled with Ozzy though. Ozzy's argument was that when he returned in 1997 he revitalized the brand (intentional, not band), and people were buying more Black Sabbath stuff (not albums, that's subject to different contracts). He also said that Sharon and he were basically "running" Black Sabbath between 1997 and 2006 (when they reunited with Ronnie). Legally I think it's BS, a deal's a deal, but Iommi and he ultimately resolved it, terms undisclosed of course. In the context of this thread it's what bugs me about this reunion. If Ozzy was so gung ho about all four of them being Black Sabbath, how come it's OK for Tommy Clufetos (I suspect, I don't know) to be in the band now? I will be leaving after Priest How do you know Priest are not headlining? Hey are Priest releasing a new album? :oNo way they headline over Sabbath . New album ? No idea Judas Priest plans to be screaming again soon -- not necessarily for vengeance, but with some new music to follow up its 2008 concept album "Nostradamus."Frontman Rob Halford tells Billboard.com that the group, which recently wrapped its Epitaph World Tour, is "ramping things up to get back into full writing and recording mode" back in England. He and guitarist Glenn Tipton have "a tremendous amount of material in the vaults already, and they expect new guitarist Richie Faulkner, who replaced co-founder KK Downing in 2011, to make a contribution as well."As we were proceeding on this world tour he was taking this little mini-studio into his dressing room and we could hear him riffing away," Halford recalls. "It's going to be really thrilling moment to get together in a new writing dimension, Glenn and myself and Richie, putting all of these ideas together. We'll see what we can do over the next couple of months, look at everything, lay it all out and then start the hard work of picking out the best material."http://billboard.com/photos/stylus//2469459-judas-priest-screaming-200.jpgHalford adds that his "gut feeling tells me we'll see something next year" but doesn't want to commit to a firm timetable. "I'm of the attitude it'll be ready when it's ready," he explains. "I don't think we're going to slack off. We're determined to do a lot of work and be just as dedicated as we've always been and take a lot of care and attention with all the songs. We're not going to just bang this one out, so to speak."To tide fans over, meanwhile, Priest has set a Sept. 4 release date for "Screaming For Vengeance -- Special 30th Anniversary Edition." The set will feature the two bonus tracks from the 20th anniversary edition -- a live version of "Devil's Child" and the "Turbo" outtake "Prisoner of Your Eyes" -- as well as four previously unreleased live tracks from a 1982 show in San Antonio. A bonus DVD sports Priest's performance at the 1983 US Festival in San Bernadino, Calif. Halford recalls it as "an interesting record, because of its variety," and he says Priest had a good time recording it with producer Tom Allom in Ibiza, Spain."It came together a little slowly because Ibiza is a party island and Priest was in full-on party mode," Halford says. "Ian (Hill, Priest's bassist) went through about six rental cars; he put one in the pool outside of the studio one morning. It was the crazy 80s, and we were living them, totally. Each day was like, 'Let's get rid of these hangovers first and wee what we can come up with next."

I haven't seen Priest since the World Vengeance tour. I haven't seen Ozzy since the Bark at the Moon tour. I saw "Sabbath" in 2009 with Ronnie (his second to last show ever, in fact :( ). This is Sabbath's farewell, so I'm going.
