How many years of incompetence do you have to put up with before it's OK to switch teams? confused13.gif

Just kidding, I'll suffer the rest of my life without any of them winning anything. Better that than a bandwagoner.

Niners sign Brandon Jacobs for one year.

The Niners are desperate not to fall back to mediocrity. They won a lot of very close games last year that were low scoring defensive snoozefests mostly, where either side could have won.

They're not all that desperate, apparently...tongue.gif

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Quarterback Alex Smith has signed a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers that will pay him $8 million per season with $16.5 million guaranteed.

A person with knowledge of the contract details said Smith's deal can pay him up to $33 million. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because details weren't made public.

On Tuesday, Peyton Manning was formally introduced in Denver after the 49ers pursued the four-time NFL MVP. Coach Jim Harbaugh worked out Manning at Duke last week.

The 27-year-old Smith met with Miami on Sunday but ultimately decided to stay put with the storied franchise that drafted him first overall in 2005.
Smith had a breakthrough season last year, throwing for 3,150 yards and 17 touchdowns to help San Francisco reach the NFC title game

I think it'll be tougher for them next year, the Rams have to be better than last year, the Seahawks should be better with Flynn and they have a tough schedule overall including Giants, Packers, Lions, SAINTS, Patriots, New York Tebows and...the Dolphins!! ohmy.gif

So, what you're saying is, they probably won't win 13 again, but at least they won't be winless.

I see them going 9-7, maybe 10-6. They should win that division though...

Horrible news for the Eagles, Jason Peters ruptures Achilles, out for year.

QUOTE
The Eagles announced Friday that Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters ruptured his Achilles tendon this week while training in Texas.

He will undergo surgery on his right leg on April 2 for an injury which typically takes from 9-12 months to heal.

Peters, a Pro Bowler in each of the last five seasons, allowed one sack in 2011 and was instrumental in LeSean McCoy's 1,309-yard rushing season.

The announcement puts in perspective the Friday decision to retain OT King Dunlap, who has agreed to a one-year deal. Dunlap, a seventh-round pick in 2009, played in 12 games last season, starting twice.

In a statement released by the team, coach Andy Reid said the Eagles will test free agency for a replacement.

"Jason is one of the best, if not the best, offensive tackle in the NFL," Reid said. "We don't know when he will return to the field and we will not speculate on a timeline. We are just going to let the surgical process and the rehabilitation process play itself out.

"(General manager) Howie (Roseman) and I will sort out the roster situation for the offensive line. We are glad to have King back as a part of our offensive line and we will continue to scan the free agent market, also knowing the draft is less than a month away."
