deadwing2112
Power Metal isn't really my cup of tea. But, if I had to pick one band, it would be Rhapsody. Edited January 9, 2012 by deadwing2112

Mr. Not
QUOTE (Nate2112 @ Jan 9 2012, 11:24 AM) Rhapsody...are you fkking mad?? That band is THE power metal band...If you know what I mean...wink..wink you're a pretty smart kid though they're not founders of power, they have extreme talent and have taken the genre to the next level. much like blind guardian in concept and symphonic addition, but rhapsody has more rounded talented members. they are irreplaceable. what songs of theirs are your favorites? frozen tears of angels only showed that the band was only improving, it's outstanding: (but, for the record, i did vote blind guardian)
USB Connector
Stratovarius. Dragonforce gets a close second. Speaking of which, why aren't they on this poll?

Mr. Not
Helloween Considered the official founders. Made the mark just a step away from Heavy Metal, and set a great foundation for the genre to grow on. German. Blind Guardian Introduced a mythological spin. They formed at the birth of Power, and grew to add orchestra and further developments. German. Stratovarius Introduced keyboards to the genre. With the recruit of Jens Johansson, Yngwie Malmsteen's keyboardist, Stratovarius popularized use of keyboards in Power. Stratovarius formed and released their first record shortly after Helloween and Blind Guardian. Finnish. Rhapsody A band with a strong enthusiasm on mythical themes, technical talent, and neo-classical effort in power. A late band to join in (the 90's), but they continue to evolve and bring the genre to new heights. Italian. Mr. Not
QUOTE (USB Connector @ Jan 9 2012, 12:49 PM) Stratovarius. Dragonforce gets a close second. Speaking of which, why aren't they on this poll? 21st century, recorded solos they could never pull of live, and added no crucial developments to the genre (unless you consider a slight video-game twist in the keys one). this isn't picking favorites, exactly. If "Melodic Heavy Metal with Keys" is your favorite development of PM, then Stratovarius was a good choice. They heavily influenced Dragonforce.
