Interesting watching him work around the missing drum. The fill at 1:35 failed badly, but he adjusted pretty well after that.

Really? I thought it was pretty good. I loved that fill. Maybe it's just my ears.

That happens when you're missing a Tom and you're forced to skip it.

Not 100% sure, just a guess. I mean it's not like I play drums or anything. I play the Vulcan Lyre, what would I know? tongue.gif

Well really you can always reorchestrate the fill on the fly. I have had to do this a number of times.

Remember drummers are not robots programmed to play the same thing on the same drum...you adjust.

The fill is a triplet that goes into 4 duples or something like that...for some reason it got a bit off.

And yep heads do break from time to time.

Wonder what happened?

Drum heads break. Its not the first, and won't be the last time that they have to change a head on the go.

Thankyou Sir Lerxst

What I've always thought was fascinating is that Neil doesn't change heads EVERY show (or every few shows) like a lot of people! He likes his heads to wear in, and stay on the drums for several shows?!?!

(not to say that you can't break a brand new head...I've done it a few times, as well as broken a brand new stick within the context of the first song of the night)

I haven't broken a tom head in YEARS..I just changed heads after a few years on my set (not playing out much anymore, but I play at least 3-5 times every week) Snare heads...we won't go there!
