1-0-0-1-0-0-1
Interesting watching him work around the missing drum. The fill at 1:35 failed badly, but he adjusted pretty well after that.

Sir Lerxst
QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Sep 29 2011, 05:19 PM) Wonder what happened? Drum heads break. Its not the first, and won't be the last time that they have to change a head on the go.

I mean it's not like I play drums or anything. I play the Vulcan Lyre, what would I know?
druid13
Well really you can always reorchestrate the fill on the fly. I have had to do this a number of times. Remember drummers are not robots programmed to play the same thing on the same drum...you adjust. The fill is a triplet that goes into 4 duples or something like that...for some reason it got a bit off. And yep heads do break from time to time. fledgehog
^^ Yeah exactly, part of being a good musician is having to compensate for hardware malfunctions without losing flow and smoothness. Its not the first, and won't be the last time that they have to change a head on the go. What I've always thought was fascinating is that Neil doesn't change heads EVERY show (or every few shows) like a lot of people! He likes his heads to wear in, and stay on the drums for several shows?!?! (not to say that you can't break a brand new head...I've done it a few times, as well as broken a brand new stick within the context of the first song of the night) I haven't broken a tom head in YEARS..I just changed heads after a few years on my set (not playing out much anymore, but I play at least 3-5 times every week) Snare heads...we won't go there!
