Thanks to Sully's cool poll I started thinking to myself that there are a lot of guitar players who have covered Jimi Hendrix over the decades.

I am sure I forgot a few but as you can see the obvious picks are above.

Those guitar players listed above are some of the most elite players in the world.

Which guitarist do you think can play Jimi's stuff the best?

Randy Hanson is probably the most underrated guitar player on the list but I have a few of his cds and the man is dead on.

Saying that though I must stay consistent within these polls.

Stevie Ray Vaughan is easily my pick.

Thanks bud! I thought of Clapton but didn't list him. I have heard his "Little Wing" cover, but I'm not a big Clapton solo fan. No balls.

Love the Cream stuff though!

Right on,dude...Clapton,imo, is in the top 10 maybe top 5

guitar player's of all time. His stuff with Cream was

completely cream-of-the-crop!

Those guy's were the original 3-man band setup ,

along with JHE, obviously.

JB should also should be mentioned. The guy seriously wailed

with the YB's.

Absolutely love the SRV Little Wing.

In the others category: Rose Hill Drive (at of Boulder) does a great job covering Band Of Gypsys.

Voted for SRV.

They all worship at the alter that is Jimi.

That's when you know someone's the best.......when so many others incorporate so much of his style and/or do his songs.

SRV.

No one has the chops AND plays with the feeling SRV can put into the blues as JH played it. All the above mentioned players are mentioned just because I think they are favs of the poster, not because the player exemplifies Jimi's style and presence.

Bettencourt, Bonomassa, Vai and who ever the BucketHead dude is are all great players but JH and SRV (and EC) are in a class by themselves.

BTW, nice inclusion of Frank Marino in there! Guy is awesome...

Kenny Wayne Shepard is pretty damn good too...

Hendrix would've loved this man.

Not so sure and I say that cuz he loved Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) and Billy's style is much different from Jimi's. Thinking maybe he'd have gone for guys who's sound was quite a number of degrees away from his.

Stevie Ray's general sound WAS degrees away from Hendrix. When you hear Jimi, you know it's him. When you hear Stevie, you know it's him. I voted for Vaughan because he never really tried to copy Hendrix, while at the same time he credited the man for being the biggest influence for him to play. When he played Hendrix, it was in admiration, not with the motivation to be an reincarnation of him. Just like the others in this poll. He just did it the best.

Wow Sully! You sound just like my wife and I totally agree!!

Wendy has to tolerate my stereo blasting every night. She reads closed captioning on the TV so I can have my music. That is true love.

I'm kind of bumming right now because she is going to Rome on Wednesday for a week with her mom and sister. I am sure they will have a great time but I will be staying home with the girls. Mr. Mom I will become. UGH.

Anyway, Wendy loves SRV and thinks that Jimi is simply out in left field. Chaotic guitar playing V. Stevie's polished shredding.

She has a point even though I love both guitarists.

Wendy is six years younger than me. She puts up with my music obsession and I take her to hundreds of shows.

At the end of the day she loves Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Black Eyed Peas, and other modern shit.

At least I try to brainwash her with real music.

Cheers!
