Been reading some pretty bad press regarding our fave' indulgence.. seems bacon like the rest of those processed meats out there are high on the carciogenic list and should strictly be eaten in moderation or avoided completely. I think i've averaged a BLT mid-afternoon for eighteen out of the last twenty-one days.

Fifty Shades of Bacon is an erotic cookbook that delves into the full bacon experience. Ok, it is not erotic at all, but it is a tongue in cheek delivery of some great bacon recipes. Everything from basic bacon bits to bacon ice cream to bacon au gratin and alfredo. If you are into bacon, want an interesting conversation piece or are looking for a present for the meat lover in your life, this title is for you.

I want that bacon wrapped turkey leg in my belly! Everything looks so perfectly cooked and yummy.

I've wrapped meatloaf in bacon and chicken breasts in bacon but never an entire bird. I have got to try this.

I have four game hens thawing in the fridge and they may be the first bacon bird experiment.

All things in moderation. Meat is good for you. Iron, protein, etc... Just don't eat too much red meat and bacon, and try and stay lean. Veggies are great for you, but only veggies makes tick an unhappy boy. Life is short. Meat is part of a happy life for me. What am I supposed to do, reinvent the carrot to take the place of the Rib eye I having tonight? I think not.

Trader Joes has new bacon! :chickendance:

http://www.traderjoes.com/images/nw-image-black-forest-bacon.jpg

Sometimes you want the whole ham, sometimes just the bacon. When bacon it is, Trader Joe's Uncured Black Forest Bacon is it. We start with thick slices of the finest, freshest all natural bacon that has no nitrates or nitrites added. It's prepared with a dry rub a la Black Forest: raw sugar, sea salt, malted barley and a rich blend of spices. Then it is smoked slow and low over hickory wood coals. The luscious, smoky flavor intensifies as it cooks (nothing beats the frying pan) and the texture transforms to a crisp-edged hearty. Is your mouth watering yet?
