sullysue
Serj Tankian's voice makes my skin crawl. blah... Not at all hip on James LaBrie's voice. (sorry...) Axl Rose's voice became really annoying after the first GnR album. Someone here once compared his voice to Ethel Merman's, which is right on target. Totally cringe-worthy. Seriously? He's one of the best of all time +1 Sting is great! Dring the Police years, he was a little hard to take but by the time Synchronicity came out, he developed a great voice. Hes great tenor Yea. That's why I mentioned Outlandos D'Amour. It sounds like he's trying to sound like Jon Anderson but by the time Synchronicity came out, his voice was fine. And Billie Joe Armstrong sounds like he's trying to be a tool Outlandos is some of his best IMO of course But some of the notes and emotion in Roxanne and So Lonely is incredible. Billie is a TOOL! Maynard's voice is awesome though! LOL! I know a lot of people hate Les Claypool's voice but to me he is GOLDEN! STING rules bottom line. I love his voice with the acoustic guitar on the solo song "Fragile." Brilliant. I was thinking about putting Les Claypool but his voice fits so perfectly with his music and I love Primus . And I love The Police and Outlandos D'Amour, just the vocals are sometimes cringe-worthy. No different from what some guys on here think of Geddy. Another one to add to the list. thelocator
All that Creed/Staind singing fills me with the urge to move my bowels...Oh, I think I might have said all of this already...The sleaze/glam style of singing from bands like LA Guns gets me awfully nauseous...The POP Punk vocalists give me anxiety...But, other than that, I've discovered that I'm much more open minded and embracing of non-conventional singer types than most folks are. I can listen to most Thrash, Doom and Progressive Rock singers...Like plenty of the blues-based dudes, and plenty of the female singer-songwriter vocalists too... fledgehog
okay, here are the ones i disagree with. ready? James LaBrie "all rappers" No, not all of them. Colin Meloy Autotune (mainly because of Daft Punk's existence) Billy Joe Armstrong Eddie Vedder (listen to Once. Or hell, ANYTHING off Ten. if you don't think those vocals are intense you are useless.) Chris Martin Louis Armstrong (i have no words...) Liam Gallagher (acquired taste, yes, but he fits the music well) Dave Matthews (again, not an incredibly skilled vocalist but he emotes very well in relation with the music) Dennis DeYoung (but I can see why someone might not like him) Jon Bon Jovi Sting (really?) Adam Duritz (again, acquired taste. And I think this song is a good example of how everything is in delivery, rather than true vocal ability. It also has some nice harmonies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izeDRfkyMAQ) Claudio Sanchez (though again, I can understand the hate) here are some I'd add: Aaron Weiss (mewithoutYou) Taylor Swift (she's hot but dammit all she can't sing for crap) Ringo Starr Kevin Moore Dido (the whole breathy thing is okay, but she really overdoes it) Robby Takac (the shitty Goo Goo Dolls vocalist, not the good one) Jimi Hendrix (amazing guitar playing, but i just dont feel the vox) Owl City (...) Regina Spektor (i'm pretty tolerent of whiny female vocals, i like vanessa carlton, michelle branch and conor oberst xD but seriously i can't take too much of Spektor's singing at one time) Alex Lifeson (lol) Neal Morse (prepared for flames) Tyson Ritter (All American Rejects) Mick Jagger (yes, you read that right)
