Presto-digitation
Bleeding Christ! I hate that movies now cost more than my first concert experiences. And those now cost what a weekend trip to Disneyland used to run.

Mara
QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Mar 26 2010, 04:30 PM) Bleeding Christ! I hate that movies now cost more than my first concert experiences. And those now cost what a weekend trip to Disneyland used to run. No kidding. I haven't seen a theater release in forever. And for that kind of money I will pass on the possibility of having the entire experience wrecked by screaming babies or by people who will. Not. Shut. Up. Oh, and a one-day Disney pass is $89. Just in case you are looking for a vacation that will necessitate a second mortgage on your home.

circumstantial tree
I guess I'm lucky that the prices are rising for movies that suck. I didn't have the intention of going anyway, now the prices give me even more of a reason to not go.
WCFIELDS
Paying $2 - $3 more for a 3D movie is not a big deal to me.....if my family wants to go and see it, we go....
nobodys hero
I just got an e-mail from my local movie theater saying they had not increased fees for the latest 3-D movies Alice in Wonderland or How to Train Your Dragon. They are already charging $3 bucks more for a 3D movie. I only go to matinees and now those aren't even bargain prices with the added premium. Sonatine
The market will soon find the right price: you can only push family budgets so far before people say "enough is enough". But until box office revenues start to fall the cinema chains will keep on hiking prices.

Usually these are movies I hadn't planned to see in the first place.

PLUS I am waiting for their to be more than JUST ONE MOVIE to watch in 3D. The 3D sports networks sound cool but, here in Canada apparently our TV receivers are a looong ways away from being 3D capable, like maybe another year. I can't wait for the Star Wars trilogy in 3D where it is highly likely Lucas will snatch the chance to "fix" the Return of the Jedi so Darth and Luke *hug* at the end and nobuddy dies, not even that one pancaked Ewok at about the 1:14:32 mark. Everything from popcorn to the movie cost less, and you can pause when you have to take a piss! That's all well and good, but sometimes you just want to get the hell out of the house and a movie is a nice way to do it. I do believe the movie makers will be sorry if they think they can keep raising prices just because people enjoy these 3D movies, Some will continue to pay for it but they will definitely loose a lot of folks as well. I like going but if prices get much higher my movies will be few and far between. I do have a nice home setup and I enjoy it.
