A quick comment and then this thread can sink deep into the icy waters of no return just like Dream Theater, I mean the Titanic. The first song on the record is alright musically but who the hell is that moron trying to sing with a deep throated voice? Pathetic. It sure as hell isn't James and if it really is Mike Portnoy, then this guy just needs to just give it up. Take the fukkking microphone away from the drummer! He was born to play the drums. NOT SING. Hopefully he will actually show some class on this tour and not spit on current band mates either. Mike Portnoy is a TOOL. DREAM THEATER = PROGRESSIVE AC/DC. Every song is melodic and heavy but it's all the same!! At least RUSH evolves as the clock ticks even though "TIME STANDS STILL" for these other poser bands. I'm guilty as charged because I just made fun of TEST FOR ECHO on here. Big deal. At least RUSH tries to be different with each new release. No wonder Portnoy wants to sit on Neil's "Angry Inch." HAHAHA! Great movie by the way. Portannoy can't even strap on Neil's jockstrap around his GIANT EGOTESTICLE HEAD!!! Hypocritally and ironically I still give Dream Theater my money. First off, I glad that you can see through my Dream Theater bashing as I only do it to tease you Dream Theaterheads. Hey at least I have the knowledge and the experience of being a diehard DT fan even though I seriously thing this band has been going downhill. JMO The Progressive AC/DC comment was just to get a "stir" out of you and others. It's all in fun as you know. Everyone on here loves to either praise a band or rip them. I personally don't think "trolling" has anything to do with making fun of another band. Heck some of us Rushheads even like to bash a Rush album or Rush song sometimes. Life on here would be stale if we all agreed on the same music. So now let's talk about you very interesting question. How can we define "Soul" in music? I would use Stevie Ray Vaughan as an example. "SOUL TO SOUL!" When that cat played the guitar you could just "feel" the emotion pouring out of his fingertips. I seriously don't get that with Petrucci. I think that John is an amazing guitar wizard but to my ears he lacks that "magic" or that "soulful" feeling per se. Jimi Hendrix is another one who played with "soul."
