daveyt Posted May 12, 2008 Author Share Posted May 12, 2008 as far as the show went: i just love seeing rush outdoors. you can feel the elements and it's just more jovial. the venue helps in that the seats rise up pretty quick unlike COORS AMPH. i just love the setting at irvine and i love checking out the different vantage points. i could see edgyspice rocking out all night including jill and man i wanted to be down there too! but i really couldn't complain becuase my seats were sweet and i ran into my buddies so... crowd seemed subdued or maybe they were just really high! i think they were just watching the show going OMG and WOW all night. i went back to my original seat during the last song to do what i originally intended to do: listen to the SOUNDS through the speakers. & it was loud! I was in a big crowd of people leaving the venue and there was some drunk guy running his mouth loud enough for EVERYONE to hear. At one point he said, "I don't know about you all, but I think Neil Peart [he pronounced it "pert," LOL] had the flu, because his drum solo was really off!" I was thinking about that damned pick and was kinda crabby, so I yelled out, "So go ask for your money back!" and everyone around me laughed. daveyt Posted May 12, 2008 Author Share Posted May 12, 2008 oh yeah, rush were great! 10/10 very enjoyable show and they were not tired at all seeing as though they just played vegas. i hope they come back to irvine. on my way out i wanted to say BYE to howard. he told me b4 the show he was feeling like total shit and now i watched him make a B-line during the last song to go barf i guess. poor howard! i never seen him run so fast! OK so i get to my car after rush get rushed out behind us with their escorts (i thought it was them) and i want to get out of there early. no dice. car won't start! and i only played a couple songs on the sound system so i don't think the battery was THAT drained. i guess having my power switch on the previous night DID have something to do with it. who knows. so jen gave me a jump and i asked her to follow me just in case. the car seemed fine and so i bid farewell and went out into the night (cutting off everyone waiting to get out). i got into it with some biotch from THE HILLS. i was just chilling waiting for the line to move so i could get in and she was all like "excuse me buddy, bla blah blah" and i was looking at her like "relax" and she was like "blah blah blah" so i gave her the daveyt treatment and i even gave her one of these which she really hated. then i got on the freeway and it's not looking good. to get home i gotta turn the headlights off and that's what i did for 12 miles or so, turning them on only when it seemed i would die or something... daveyt Posted May 12, 2008 Author Share Posted May 12, 2008 i was gonna make it home! then i turned on the lights 1 too many times AND THAT WAS IT. stuck on the freeway where the 605 and the 405 meet and so i walked. NEXT EXIT 3/4 MILE. f**k that! so i walked down studebacker road. and walked and walked. no civilization in sight. the longest night ever, again. reliving similar experiences when i was a teenager. no cell phone. no change. calling card! forgot the camera in the car. got to a golf course & a payphone! my GF doesn't pick up my towing company people i know can't come out. others don't pick up. no address at the golf course. i keep walking and walking with little hope to find a gas station or something. i come to some other establishment near the golf course. another payphone!!! yes! repeat previous attempts. not even a pen to write down numbers, even. trying to remember phone numbers i'm given by buddies in the towing biziness with some luck. too bad when i got the call through no one is working. thank god i could renew the calling card as i thought that was my only chance to get out of this mess at the time. "why don't you just get a cell phone daveyt?" and miss all this fun? finally, i do spot a gas station (heaven) and the employee says, no you can't use the phone because it's THE COMPANY PHONE. looks like a regular phone to me. after a little to and fro i'm like "look mr. scardiepants do you know what a f***ing EMERGENCY IS?" so he lets me use the phone. THANK YOU i need to use it a couple times after it still isn't looking good. "last time for the phone" boy, the company would be so proud of this worker. i finally get a hold of a towing company. freedom. relief! i sit down and...WAIT. he arrives and i am saved. he is super nice and gets me & the little car home. i see the gas station guy sleeping in his little office on the way out. i get home and wake up the GF: she's glad to hear i'm OK. i tell her she has some interesting messages waiting for her. :crybaby: i drink a gatorade andhit the sack. not working tomorrow so it can't be that bad. daveyt goes to irvine.
