Justin Timberlake

I meant that in good jest of course.

It's one of those amusing characteristics of any forum where the formula goes like this.

Post 1: *noun* is AWESOME! (example: Menudo is awesome!)

Post 2: NO WAY! *noun* is GAY! (example: NO WAY! Menudo is GAY!)

Rest of the thread: Argument who is right, lengthly discussions why do people come into my thread about Menudo being awesome just to come bash them etcetera...

I think this will be a very common thread formula for so long as the Internet exists. *shrugs*.

It'd be a fun experiment to try the opposite formula and start a thread about something being CRAP and seeing if people come running to that things defense - and then the person who thinks it's crap could say the topic is about it being CRAP why do people wreck it by coming in a saying its GOOD.

Hahaha!

Funny I was on those forums yesterday reading up on track lists for Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band.

Same thing - everyone scrapping, no two people agree, people calling each other stupid and NOOBS and stuff. Even for example Radio Head fans arguing that Radio Head is the best but they should have picked a song OTHER than Creep because that songs sucks. etcetera etcetera...

BY those standards we do pretty well for ourselves here - plus most of us can speak at least a lick of engrish.

can we delete this thread? This is so pointless. as we've argued this a billion times. new_thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

or can we all be mature people and start talking about JT again? confused13.gif

I'd be down for the second option, personally.

Have you guys noticed how "LoveStoned/I Think She Knows" was absolutely butchered in the radio edit? They hacked off like 3 minutes, most of which came during the part in the middle where they slowly fade out everything and then slowly bring the strings back in, only to suddenly completely change the song. The first half of the song sounds like something off Thriller, and the second half sounds like something off Interpol's last album, but whenever I hear it on the radio it goes from the ;ast chorus right into the second part, with none of the stuff in between, which is the best part of the song pretty much.

My kids always listen to his stuff and it grew on me. I think he's great. Good actor too. I just saw Alpha Dog last weekend and thought he did a very good job at portraying part of a mid-level drug lord's posse. Great movie.

Wow, Necro admitting to liking JT?

Cool.

Again, if you don't like it, try not to let the door hit you on the way out...

I think I have a solution for you folks that are head over heels with Timberlake or Jessica Simpson or whatever.

Maybe the Mods can make a new section of the forum where you have to apply to have access - sorta like the Sense o'clock News forum, except this one would be called "We heart.gif Justin" or something like that.

This way the mods can screen to make sure only people who agree with you are allowed to post there, and we can avoid people's feelings being crushed when someone thinks pop music nowadays sucks, or are surprised that there is a thread supporting Justin Timberlake in a Rush forum.

I think that could work.

biggrin.gif

Alternatively, maybe the mods could create a sub-forum that only people like yourself, who seem to be negative towards certain genres of music, can wallow in your negativity about certain bands, or artists, and become miserable farts, yet confined to your own space, so as not to spread your negativity across the forum. Perhaps this idea would lead to others being able to discuss the music they like freely, without fear of their views being looked-down upon, or without being seen as lesser human beings, for liking an artist/band that is against the majority. (Funnily enough, i've seen many people on this forum telling stories about how they have this with Rush. Hypocritical, wouldn't you say?)

However, another option would be to set-up a completely different sub-forum, teaching others to read before they post, which could help alot. This way, people would be taught to see the name 'Justin Timberlake' and come to the conclusion that the said person does not, infact, like Jessica Simpson, or whatever. This would lead to an overall friendler atmosphere within the thread, leading to others not becoming aggravated. This 'learning' sub-forum, as I have now called it, would also help the reader to banish the thoughts of certain people 'loving' an artist/band, when in reality, they only appreciate the music, which is a compltely different meaning.

Hopefully, the inclusion of the latter forum, would allow others to assess situations before they come to them, i.e. conisdering whether to actually enter a thread, where their opinion isn't valued or needed.

Maybe these two ideas, could actually work

If you read the posts in this thread you'd see the only thing I said at all about Justin Timberlake was that for me it was one of the highlights of SARS STOCK when people threw empty water bottles at him on the stage.

Rush is almost the opposite of mainstream and commercialism whereas those same characteristics are very much associated with pop music.

So if you are really that surprised some people here would be quick to bash Top 40 pop radio, then maybe you'd also be surprised that someone wearing a "I heart.gif Madonna" shirt to a heavy metal festival is likely to get harassed.

I don't agree with people being ignorant towards others opinion here - but man.. a thread like this in a rock forum has getting teased by other people written all over it.

Rush is the opposite of the mainstream in pop communitites, whereas JT is the opposite of the mainstream in rock communities. There's no difference...

Ahem, read your post I quoted, your suggestions, evidently that's what i was referring to...

I wouldn't be suprised in the least that a Madonna T-shirt wearer would be harrased...

"I don't agree with people being ignorant towards others opinion here - but man.. a thread like this in a rock forum has getting teased by other people written all over it." Nice contradiction there trink39.gif

I see huge difference between being ignorant and teasing someone...

Anyways. D-13 sorry to be part of this distraction in your thread I won't post here any more.

Yeah, I'm with you. Exactly like Necro and Tick in the DT threads. No harm done.

FYI, on Labor Day HBO is broadcasting JT's Madison Square Garden concert from last week.

I wish I had HBO. sad.gif

The only guilty person in this thread was PFF, and he only made ONE post.

Here we are, arguing about something he said. I dont know whether to cry or laugh.

Maybe a healthy mix of both?

But on topic... I finally heard that "Lovestoned" single on the radio. And while I've never heard the full version, it really did feel like it was... missing something. I didn't really dig it that much, definitely not as much as My Love.

If only I had high speed internet...

I think ur missing the point. No problems with opinions, we all got them. It's when people start trolling (ie, talking shit just for the sake of it).

But whatever, some people on here don't understand that.

As Ray Davies once said it best and I quote "everybody's got a right to speak their mind so don't shoot me for saying mine" end quote. Seems to me I was metaphorically shot for expressing my opinion on the ex-male Mousketeer/Outta Sync defect.

If you understood about the disorder I have then you will all understand why I am the way I am. I'm not set in ways nor am I stubborn and a snob but trying new things and changing is MUCH more difficult for me than it is the average normal dude. Resistance to change and so on and limits on topics are symptoms of Aspergers/Autism (nothing I can do about it, wish there was but I accept who I am unlike certain celebs who I will leave nameless and have mental issues yet they won't accept that they have anything wrong). For the record, I don't like Stinkercake nor the rest of those boy-band teen queen pieces of sh*t.

I understand completely.

My only issue was with the fact that you said JT lip syncs when, in fact, he does not.
