The Rocinante
It wasn't really that good...Tom Hanks could have done better. But it's okay
Slime
The Davinci Code fails as literature. I'm not seeing the movie.
goose
QUOTE (Slime @ Dec 1 2006, 11:49 PM) The Davinci Code fails as literature. I'm not seeing the movie. Although most people I talk to seemed to love this, I thought it was pretty lame. The history was nothing new to me, so that didn't keep me interested. side from the history, the story is poorly constructed - very lacking in"verisimilitude" (AKA, believability). lerxt1990
I thought the book was good, but had a questionable ending. I thought Angels & Demons was better by DB. Never saw the movie...

Ru5h F@n
Wow. I loved this movie. It was the best movie I've seen in a long time. I found it to be a much better movie than Casino Royale was hands down.
blonde77th
I also have this movie & i think it was very good .
thestand
The book was horrible, and the film was an abortion. What, too strong? I hated both. I can't believe the American public latched onto such a horrible writer.
Slime
I concur. I may have been biased because of the whole "the history presented in DVC is bollocks", but I stand by my previous statement: the book fails as literature. I don't even wanna start on just how bad it was
madra sneachta
Loved the book, expected the film to be pure shite, and was pleasantly surprised by it. Why do people insist on investing the Da Vinci Code with some form of esoteric meaning and then get all disappointed and let down because they don't believe in it?. I don't believe in Magreatha, but that doesn't change the fact that I love h2g2. Book Vs Film? The ending has changed a bit, it's not as good as the book, conversely, it's not as crap as you think it's going to be. Room 34
I enjoyed the book, despite its problems. I do think Angels and Demons was far superior. I just saw the movie last weekend on DVD. I'm glad I just rented it. The book is so cinematic anyway that I thought it would translate well to a movie. The problem was time. The story's too long for a feature film. It should've been an HBO miniseries or something. *SPOILER ALERT* Anyway... the first two hours of the movie feel like the book in fast-forward. But the last half hour of the movie is simply inexcusable. Why the plot changes? In the book, Sophie plays a major role in solving the mystery whereas in the movie she's completely passive. Why change the stuff about her brother and grandparents? It just undermines the story. Lame. I hope they do better with A&D... perhaps with a different Langdon. (I always thought William Hurt would be good for the role.)
