This is just what you'd expect from the Van Halen brothers, they bring back Roth and then ditch Anthony..............go figure......

I'd love to see the original 4 tour. Just to hear some of the classics off of "Fair Warning" would be worth the price alone.

From wikipedia...

Recent News

Anthony's future in Van Halen is uncertain as he recently revealed he only played on 3 tracks on the Van Halen III album and didn't play on any of the new songs for the The Best of Both Worlds compilation. Anthony also revealed he was only allowed to participate in the 2004 reunion tour if he signed a reduced royalties contract.

Mike spent the summer of 2006 touring as a member of "The Other Half" along with Sammy Hagar. They performed songs from both the Hagar and Roth eras of Van Halen. At the June 4th, 2006 show in Phoenix, AZ, for example, Mike sang Roth's vocal parts on Running with the Devil and Hagar sang Mike's backup harmonies.

On September 8th 2006, Eddie Van Halen announced that his son Wolfgang is now Van Halen's official bass player shortly afterwards stating he had no more hard feelings towards David Lee Roth and would be happy to 'play a few gigs' with him. There are now rumors of a Van Halen US tour with Roth in 2007. There was not mention as to Mike's status in the band. Fan support, and Roth's opinion may lead to Mike's return to the band though it is uncertain. Van Halen's publicist confirmed that Wolfgang Van Halen will be the band's bass player for the 2007 reunion tour with Roth.

I'm as big a fan of the original Van Halen as anybody here, and I even liked some of Van Hagar. I'm reiterating a lot of what's already been said here, but as far as this supposed 2007 reunion with DLR goes...

Roth will look like a moron trying to sing those old VH songs. And he'll sound even worse. He sucked in that 2002 "Mean Street" clip and he won't be any better now. In the old days, especially when drunk onstage, he wouldn't sing half the lyrics. But he jumped around so much that it was still cool. His attitude and showmanship were more important than him singing every word. He's too old to get away with that now, and he can't sing too well anymore, so...he'll look like a moron.

Eddie can't play anymore. He'll look pathetic trying to do a ten-minute "Eruption" solo, but you know he'll do it anyway. His ego is blocking all those little voices that are SCREAMING at him to hang it up. It's a shame he's messing up his legacy like this.

Real VH fans love Michael Anthony to death. Without his vocals and stage presence it just isn't Van Halen. Eddie is stupid for not realizing that. Wolfgang may bear the Van Halen name, but he's not as Van Halen as Michael Anthony was.

And throwing the 15-year-old Wolfgang into this mess is just bad parenting. tongue.gif Eddie wants to be able to say "It's all in the family now!" but it's a stupid thing to do no matter how good the kid can play. Exposing young Wolfie to the rock star life and throwing him in front of all those screaming fans every night will just- ...wait, nobody will actually be buying tickets to these shows, right? Half the dates will probably be canceled because of poor sales. Before this tour is over they'll be the opening act for puppet shows at Six Flags theme parks...yeah, maybe Wolfie will be okay after all.

But Van Halen won't be okay. Like PuppetKing said, this will border on self-parody. They're jumping the shark with this tour. And they'll fall short and the shark will tear them to shreds. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/violent/sterb038.gif

More clips from when Van Halen were cool:

Ice Cream Man

Hear About It Later Great clip!

!!! Bad video quality but cool nonetheless.

And for a Hagar-era song, this one's pretty good:

A little bit of reality:

If VH does go out on tour with DLR in 2007, they could call it the "Two Egotistical Bastards and Two Sidemen tour"! I have absolutely no respect for either one of them!

Anyways, it has not been widely publicized, but Michael Anthony was fired from the band in either Feb or March of this year and replaced with Eddie's son, Wolfgang. Eddie was pissed off w/ Michael because he apparently hung around Sammy Hagar too much, even going out on tour with him and playing in Sammy's band in a few shows. Eddie should never have stopped drinking, he was a much better person then!

Woah woah woah, where did the "border on" part come from? Could this tour really end up any other way?

True. Didn't mean to misquote you. tongue.gif

More weirdness from Crazy Eddie?

This is from the Boston Globe

"Right now Van Halen is contemplating going on tour in 2007.

And in an interesting twist it is neither Sammy Hagar nor David Lee Roth that's got fans buzzing about the potential outing but Eddie Van Halen's 15-year-old son Wolfgang.

It seems that Michael Anthony is out on bass and Wolfgang is in, according to VH's spokesperson. The band is also reportedly passing on Sammy, Dave, and presumably homeboy Gary Cherone, and considering using another family member, a nephew, in the lead vocal spot.

(It's unclear if the nephew is drummer Alex Van Halen's son, but if he is, then it would truly be Van Halen, no?)

One way or another the original VH will undoubtedly be back in the news soon when the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are announced. The seminal Cali metallers should be shoo-in. "

Here's an interesting Van Halen story...

http://www.thewhite.net/articles/david_lee_roth.jpg

"I am from Los Angeles and you might say I kind of grew up in the same musical neighborhood as Dave Roth and company. This picture was taken by my then girlfriend, Mary Garson. She was an up and coming photographer on the L.A. scene at the time. For a while her sister, Maggie, was dating Eddie Van Halen and we used to 'double date' now and then with Dave in tow. This was one of those occasions. Queen was touring for their 'Day At The Races' album. Eddie was with us although he is not pictured here. This was prior to Van Halen signing a record deal with Warner Bros. A little known fact is that my band inadvertantly played a role in helping them get that deal. Here's the story...

"At that time, I was singing in a band called 'The Boyz' with guitarist George Lynch and drummer Mick Brown, who would eventually form 'Dokken'. In 1976 we played a Halloween show at 'Gazzarris on the Sunset Strip'. The club was packed and most of the kids who came to the show that night were dressed up in 'KISS' makeup. We played mostly our own tunes, but in order to get gigs we played some 'ZZ Top', 'KISS', etc. We ended our first set with "Firehouse', a KISS song. As we were walking off the stage, I noticed an extremely tall guy approaching me. To make a long story short, the man was Gene Simmons. He was at the club partying with Paul Stanley. They weren't wearing any makeup and really enjoyed seeing all these kids dressed up like them. They really liked our version of their song. Gene said that their label 'Casablanca' was looking to sign some new bands. He asked where we were playing next so he could bring the record company out to see us. I told him that we were playing the following week at the'Starwood', another infamous club in Hollywood.

"Van Halen had the good fortune to be on the bill with us (we shared billing with Van Halen at several shows in the mid 70's). Gene showed up with the record company, but our show was really off that night. On the other hand, Van Halen had a great set. They impressed Gene so much that he flew them to NY to record some demos. Casablanca didn't sign Van Halen, but after returning to LA with those tapes, Van Halen shopped them to WB and the rest is history. "The Boyz' would never get another chance like that. I parted company with the band about six months later."

If I want to see live VH, I go see these guys: http://www.theatomicpunks.com/

Watch the videos!!!

This guy is a shoein for DLR!

I saw the Dave and Sammy show, too, when they rolled through town. I was DYING to see DLR live again as I'd seen him before in a small venue and he ROCKED!! Ended up Sammy put on the better show angry.gif . DLR started to sing the VH tunes in a jazzy sort of way and people started leaving. He got back on track, but still Sammy was better.

Really though, how long would a tour last? Everybody knows DLR & Eddie hate each other's guts. I bet the tour would last all of three shows before one of them tried to strangle the other. And without Michael Anthony?.....no way! Might as well get Gary Charone back in there too then. They should have have called it quits and went out on top years ago, rather than see this pathetic charade. They all must be hurtin' in the wallet.
