The Notorious B.S.G.
Everything is going the Tigers' way. Solid pitching, they're getting the offense when they need it, and they're playing great defense. They've already proven that solid pitching, teamwork and fundamentals trump "checkbook baseball", by eliminating the focus of evil in the baseball world, the Yankees. Now, on the verge of their first World Series trip since '84, they have to avoid getting ahead of themselves and looking too far down the road, but I, on the other hand, am bound by no such constraints...... I'll proudly proclaim my hope and belief that not only will the Tigers win their first Series in more than 20 years, but that they have the singular pleasure of eliminating not one but TWO teams from New York. Bring on the Mets! (Or the Cards............ whatever.)

The Notorious B.S.G.
I remember the old radio jingle: GO GET 'EM TIGERS!! World Series Bound! It just goes to show, you can take the boy out of Detroit, but you can't take Detroit out of the boy (that would be me).

Well, you started it! I don't think you can afford the types of bets I make. But if your feeling that confident we can discuss something. I will say that back in '04 when the Cards got stompted by the Sox, I almost had to take out a second mortgage on the house! Ouch, that really sucked!! My wife was super pissed for months. anagramking
QUOTE (Raider917 @ Oct 22 2006, 08:29 PM) how many teams in baseball history, with fewer than 85 regular season wins, have ever won a World Series? I don't know if that's ever been done. If it was, it likely would have happened when there were only 154 games in a season. Even then, it would be harder because there were no divisions. The pennant winner had to have the best record in the league.

They were also outscored by the opposition over the course of the regular season. The Twins went on to finish last in their division in 1988, by the way.
