Jen Sawyer Posted January 30, 2008 Share Posted January 30, 2008 (edited) When I was younger we had a couple of box turtles named Shelley and Myrtle... my sister and I adopted the turtle as our favorite animal. If I can get some pics on the computer I will share them! For the past two or three years we've had pet rats. My sister wants to pursue a career working with animals... and once she went to college she decided she wanted to get another pet... and rats were the first animals she thought of. Needless to say, my parents were not pleased right off of the bat, but the little guys really started to grow on them, especially my dad. He becomes BFFs with them very quickly! Rats are really great animals to have as pets... they are really affectionate and intelligent. The only downside is they only live a couple of years if you are lucky, so my family has gone through some tough heartbreaks over the last couple of years.
