Stephen King

My favorites are The Stand, The Dead Zone, Misery, and Pet Sematary.

When I first got into Stephen King back in 1987, everyone (even strangers on the bus) kept telling me The Stand was his best. I hadn't even heard of it, because it hadn't been made into a movie yet.

I began reading it, but stopped because I lost interest. Began again another time, and stopped again. The third time I picked it up and tried to read it... I couldn't put it down! How could I have ever put it down those first two tries?? It's epic! it's awesome! Read The Stand!

I recently saw a preview of an up-coming series title "Stephen King's Nightmares & Dreamscapes".

Anyone heard more of this? Short stories, mini series?

It's already begun. I think it's an ongoing series of shorter stories - kind of like the separate vignettes in "Cat's Eye" - each based on a King short story.

Yes it is a short story collection that came out in the early '90's...It's not as good as his other short story collections but not too bad....

It appears TNT will have this as a summer series... 8 one hour episodes on the short stories in this collection...

There seems to be a lot of King talk lately, so I'm just bumping the "official" thread. Because it's... official... n stuff...

I forgot there was a King thread already when I made mine. Sorry. We can use both though, right?

I need to start reading his books  ph34r.gif I have seen 3 of the King novels made into movies: The Shining (my favorite movie), Pet Cemetary, and IT. I actually had a lot of laughs watching IT.

IT the movie was ridiculous. z7shysterical.gif

Don't remind me of that!!

The book is about eight hundred zillion times better...

John Boy should have been kidnapped to prevent his participation!!

i used to be big into Stephen King.

i'd love to see a Dark Tower movie one day. but done right.

It'd have to be a mini-series, or a series of about 7 films...

I doubt it'll happen any time soon...

o yea.......i think a miniseries would do it better justice than films, for some reason.

no.gif Not a miniseries. That would ruin it I think.

They should make one of the books into a big production movie.

the story of Roland and Alain and Cuthbert would go good for a movie.

obviously some things would be changed for it to stand on its own, but only minor details.

Wizard and Glass? Without the begining. I don't know about the end since I haven't finished it.
